  1. You could use those and it would be fine. OR You could convert it back, but price of parts to do so wouldn't make sense. If you do want a correct dw056 you could possibly find a housing cone and anvil to switch it back on ebay for maybe $30. Or just buy another impact off there and sell that one you have. Inside motor/mechanics of the 056/057 are the same so there is no difference in power between them.
  2. Only the battery that comes in the kit. The C2 has the black top 1.5 Batteries, the D2 has the newer yellow top 2.0 batteries
  3. Yes they will work with all those. 1.5, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0 Amp all work in the XR line.
  4. What's next the ceramic hair dryer? I don't know how I feel about this one. I buy everything dewalt I can find, but it seems like they are starting to stretch things a bit too far.
  5. No. They are all the same as long as they are the same model number.
  6. Well I have created my own contraptions (usually by cutting the handle off a dewalt tool and hollowing out the battery of the off brand tool and linking them together) to make the dewalt batteries fit into some random tools that I have which are not dewalt. Ryobi, Black and Decker, and Power Wheels in my house all run off dewalt. It might not look professional but it works and I think Dewalt would have the means to make this work and not look dumb.
  7. Those are both legit batteries. Dewalt did change their print style around that time with those XRP's, gave it a bit more modern look. If you go to your local hardware store they will currently look like the one on the right as well as having the tamper proof sticker on top(which is NOT tamper proof at all) I have batteries that look like both of those as well as the 3 different looking Lithium XRP's.
  8. Is there any documentation stating they will alter them for free? last time I went they tried to charge me!
  9. Ebay will be the only place to find them now (dw0247) Discontinued many years ago. They pop up maybe once a month. Used go for 100-180, new 200-300. Still a large demand for these in UK market, so if the ebay seller ships internationally expect bidding to go higher.
  10. The benifits of 18 volt again... dc545, 546,547 .
  11. I rewired my daughers power wheels car to run off my 18 volt dewalt batteries. It doesn't go THAT fast but it does move a lot faster.
  12. I am as well just waiting to see the simple answer of yes or no. I am with you on the preference of a metal chuck over a plastic one ( even if there is metal hiding in it) The plastic does seem cheap and I have NEVER liked it. It gets gauged, scratched, looks and feels like crap. I also LOVE when people tell you what you dont need for around the house. Who gives people the right to tell you what you do or dont need for your applications they know nothing about.
  13. And I am betting that is NOT available in the US.
  14. Have not seen them for quite some time, dont think they were very popular...dw323 was the dewalt barrel grip jigsaw. Instead of a handle like current models it has a small knob on top to control it. Never used one.
  15. I just got ahold of one actually. I have a dc212 and 213 now! Same looking tool, just now have a cordless chipper option! both made in Czech rep. Why cant they just send both to USA when exporting and make things easy(and cheaper for me!) Now if I can only find the dc527 area light with the lithium base I will be set.
  16. Yes the handles are nicer indeed, balance on the drill 985 vs 970, I go with the 970 in my opinion. Not trying to knock the 20, I have always pushed people towards it in selling and just advice as well in my job and on this forum. I had most of the 20v line and soon realized how much I had invested in the 18 line, and how many tools I used which only the 18 offered. If all those tools do come out in 20 someday I will switch back. But I did keep my dcf895, dc780, dcl040 just because of their awesomeness and compact size.
  17. So we have the dc212, and I have had many of them over the years and love the drill....But WHY has dewalt NEVER released a dc213 with the chipping function in the USA?? I know they put out the 20V DCH213 which has it but I'm trying to keep it all 18 Lithium in my set.
  18. I really wouldn't call the 20 max line an upgrade. Just different, and limited. MAYBE once they do come out with as many 20 volt tools a 18 volt, it would be, Maybe. BUT I doubt you will ever see a 20 max biscuit joiner, caulk gun, and probably not any type of nail gun, ac/dc vac, halogen area lights, dual 20 chargers.
  19. Anyone know where I can find a DC527 area light with the lithium base?(in US) Only place I can find them seems to be in Europe and it costs the price of the tool just for shipping!
  20. Batteries are always expensive to replace. I know the older dewalt batteries( like the XR+ from 10 yrs back) didnt last long but the newer DC9096 do better and keep their charge. I replaced most my nicads with 18 lithiums and then felt the need to replace all my tools so they had the smaller lithium base. I still have some nicads since there are a few tools which do not accept the lithiums without modifications. When you put the lithium battery on a tool with the 18 nicad base it just looks a little odd. GREAT batteries though, light and will last much longer then the nicads. They do make a Dewalt 20v cordless cut-off tool / grinder model DCG412. The 20 line is great, I had it. but realized that I have so many more 18 volt tools and batteries it just didnt make sense to run both. I only kept the DCF895 Brushless impact and the DCD780 compact drill because of their very compact size and sometimes you just need that little extra bit. If you do not need a cordless nailer or vac i would go with the 20 volt set to be honest. You could ebay off your 18 volt tools piece by piece with no batteries(you usually get more for individual pieces vs. selling the entire set together) and start fresh.
  21. Not yet, as I have a lot of blades in my collection to go through before I ever think of buying more. I would like to try them out though!! Yes sadly almost all my blades are red and yes it is ugly and every one of my tools in my garage IS yellow. I do have an old solid yellow 10" 60 precision trim blade on my table saw that is a favorite though!
  22. Yes it is. Home Depot clearanced out all their 18 volt lithium products and only sells them online now. Best bet would be Amazon or Ebay for best prices. They had a store retail of about $149 for a single battery. As far as making them, not possible if you are planning on using your nicad shells. The batteries have a different shape as well as some electronics inside of the lithium packs not in the nicads.
  23. DC9180 Battery and DC9310 Charger
  24. On top of that these tools NEVER sell for next to nothing even when used. They have a Great re-sale value. I have tons invested in the 18 volt line with over 25 nicad and lithium batteries, and actually went for the 20 volt system just to give them a shot. They were nice, but its almost the same tool with a new battery platform and better grip. Sold the 20V set and didn't lose much at all. I doubt you will EVER have a problem finding 18 volt dewalt batteries, just like when you go to home depot and they still have the Makita 9.6 batteries for a drill 20 years old. Recognize a classic. I still love my first DW988, which turned into a dc988, then DCD951. That drill will live forever.
  25. Is it weird that more than the light.....I actually want that dual charger???
