went into home depot today to pick up material and ended up buying another m12 tool. i bought the light that looks like a camping light. i now have three of there lights.my partner was with me and ended up buying the mikita 18 volt 12 led light on sale. ive been doing alot of cabinet work lately and these little lights are great. i compared all my m12 lights to the new mikita and milwaukee does have the whiter brighter light. thats 12volt vs 18volts. my partner wasnt too upset because he got on sale.

milwaukee already is way head of every body else in 12 volt offerings, if this is true, all the other tool makers might as well tuck tail between legs and run the other way

i need help, i know you can get help if you have a drug, alcohol, gambling,or sex addiction, but what about tool addiction. i went in my local home depot alittle over a week ago looking for a compact system to work in and around cabinets, ive only bought dewalt for last 15 years, but there 12 volt system sucks. i ended buying a m12 fuel two tool system. in less than two weeks, i now have four tools, two lights, and four batteries, bought the big milwaukee box, and came home with the m12 fuel hacksaw yesterday. used the saw to cut steel closet rod, for a custom closet install. awsome. milwaukee really hit the nail on the the head with this system. compact battery, plus bigger battery option, best 12 volt system on the planet right now.

chrisk, have you seen the wood river line of shoulder planes, dont know much about them. stanley also re-introduced a few planes in their "SWEET HEART" line. one is a shoulder plane that breaks apart so you can use it as a chisel plane. the two block planes, and the icon no4 bench plane

chrisk, beautiful shoulder planes

ooh nice chrisk, i know of them, very high end, bought by craftsmen who really care about their work

"opened up a can of worms." i recently went into my local hd to find a compact drill system to replace my 12 year plus dewalt nicad system. tools are still fine didnt want to deal with nicads anymore. looked at dewalt max 12 system, but it doesnt seem dewalt is doing anything with them. tool guy at hd knows i have been a dewalt guy for the past 15 or so years. i was looking for somthing smaller than my 18/20v dewalts to work inside cabinets. sold me a "compact" 20v impact/drill driver with flashlight in toughsystem case for $199.00 get the system home, one battery is no good, get another system and the drill is no good. all in a days work. bring the system back and get my money back. i hunt down tool guy, cant repeat what he said about that system. being i didnt have a 12 volt system any more he tells me to look at the m12 system. i was ready to leave with nothing because i really wanted to buy dewalt, but its not not much of a system. i pull the trigger and buy on sale two kit m12 for $ 189.00 down from $269.00. the impact 2453-20 is brushless and two speed, the drill 2404-20, is brushless, 1/2 inch hammer drill. both alot smaller than my 20 volt system. i have a few corded milwaukee tools that were bought way back, i still use them today.but this is the first other than yellow tool i bought in a long time. it took a few beers and alot of staring down the case before i decided to open it. m12 system is awsome, tool selection and battery options. mine came with the 2amp and 4 amp battery

my multi tool gets used more for sanding than anything else as we do alot of custom work. i buy the paper at my local curtis lumber store. lowes carries the smaller size but you will have to buy the smaller rockwell pads also. they fit just like the dewalt pads. i go thru alot of pads, i found that if you use it at a slower speed the pads will last longer, i also keep rotating the pad, the dewalt quick release makes this simple.

how does the ac plug hook up ?

i have 6 of the tough boxes and several of the t stak cases, i buy my stepdaughters boyfriend the l boxes every xmass for the last 3 years as he is a bosch guy. he loves them. he wasnt impressed with my tough boxes at all. the l boxes i believe are made in germany by the the same company that makes systainers, the tough boxes are made in israel. cant go wrong with the build quality from either country

ihave both, bought the corded first and used it for quite awhile before buying the cordless. the corded one gets used mainly for sanding and grout removal, your in one area for quite awhile so the cord is no problem.
we do alot of restoration work so i go through alot of sanding pads, the cordless is my go to tool when sawing baseboard to fit a cabinet in, cutting casing before installing flooring or tile, dewalt is the top in cordless, it has the best grip out there

used to be redwings, now its thorogood union made and american made chippewa. 200.00 is not that bad for something that goes through hell 6 days a week and still last for years.

the local honw depot in my area pushes the milwaukee/ryobi/riggid line of tools which are all made by the same company. My local curtis lunber store and runners store has every dewalt tool you could possibly want, its like wally world in there. i can never go in there without spending money

not good, watched a video on2015 world of concrete, this guy took it apart right down to the last screw, motor is excellent, as is the plastic housing, apparently dewalt uses BASF plastic which blows the competition out of the water, the copper windings were all expoxy sealed, awsome, but the powwder gears are junk. from what im seeing in other tool forums, lot of them are being returned for gear problems.

powdered metal gears in the new grinders ouch
What tools did you buy today?

dewalt really did screw up here.id be buying them no questions asked. if they had something. im seeing more and more workers using the smaller tools. they have gotten so good , the new 12 volts are as good as our 18 volts of a few years ago
