  1. thanks man, ill try to get to a review on the box soon

    the dust deputy i have is the steel version http://www.oneida-air.com/inventoryD.asp?item_no=AXD001002&CatId={2C6BB449-99F9-4CB9-BC27-CAF1BB570002}

i don't necessarily think its worth going with the steel version for the money.. i bought mine years ago, i don't think it was 130 at the time and I'm not really sure why i went steel in the first place

i do think it is worth getting the anti static model, especially if you are going to have it connected to a dust extractor that incorporates antistatic hoses etc. http://www.oneida-air.com/inventoryD.asp?item_no=AXD001004SD&CatId={6EE79B16-EB63-43E7-8F30-1E06240A24A4}  its $20 more than the base plastic model.

  2. MikeyB, this one is for you man!   both of these are really great vacs.. now you see the differences between the two and can make your own decision about whether you want to order the one from the US or Canada.   these both do great on the job and around the house   they work excellent on hard floors and even work decent on carpet.. i wouldn't expect to do a whole house of carpet but touching up dirty areas or a door or bath mat it works good.

I bought mine from https://www.mississaugahardware.com  I bought several tools at the time and they were the site with all the tools i wanted and with the best pricing.    they did offer me free shipping when i sent an email enquiring about the cost of shipping but my order was fairly expensive so I'm not sure if thats why.

    https://www.mississaugahardware.com/product/DCL182Z-Cordless-Vacuum-Cleane

from what i could see they didn't have the disposable bags on their website.. there are a few us sites you can get them on though so i wasn't too worried

this site actually has the tool for a little less money but I'm not sure how it will all break down once shipping is factored in

  3. I got a little crazy today and decided to shoot another video i filmed the RAS video in the morning and we finished up what we had planned for work for the day earlier than expected so i figured what the heck :)

the video pretty much covers it all, if you have any other questions please let me know

hope you all enjoy the video, if your feeling crazy, head over to youtube and click like, leave a comment and even subscribe.

  4. here is #2 guys.. tried to up my game a bit this time, i didn't actually do any editing just paused and restarted the video a few time while filming! haha   thats a big step for me :)

Most of the video is actually about a specific application of the tool but it does give a good idea of how the tool works, how well the dust collection works and how the dust deputy cyclone separator works.

I built my own box for my dust deputy and if anyone is interested i will put together a post or video about how i made it.

in the quick usage part of the video i will just say that the ras was obviously a lot faster and easier on the arms but also removed more material than scraping...   using the ras in this application is fast, it probably only took a little over an hour to do all the touch up shaving in the room

hope you all enjoy the video, if your feeling crazy, head over to youtube and click like, leave a comment and even subscribe.

if you have any specific questions feel free to ask

  5. Yeah, I currently have Milwaukee stuff. There was no real rhyme or reason why I picked Milwaukee, but I have not been disappointed thus far. There are other cordless tools from different brands that I like, but I don't really feel like owning a bunch of different batteries and what not. Thinking about getting the 5/8" SDS brushless hammer drill from Milwaukee. We do lots of tapcons and small holes in concrete, so I think this would be a good tool for work. The corded version will still have it's place on site, but I might have to get my hands on the cordless version.

Milwaukee has some great tools out there, i would say your in a good position to always have top of the line tools available to you within the m18 line..

I feel you about not wanting to have multiple battery platforms.. i have been in the Makita LXT line for probably about 7 years now and while i have been tempted to add other brands or change brands all together at times i have always stayed with the single battery platform.   it is just so much more simple to have every tool run on one battery, not to mention less expensive being able to add bare tools instead of buying full kits all the time.     milwaukee has some great rotary hammer options out now!

  6. As new members join i thought it would be helpful to post a little "how to" for posting pictures... we all love pictures and they are the best way to enhance your posts..

I have android and windows products, I dont use any apple products but i would imagine its all the same..

for pictures you have to be in the full site (desktop) version, not the mobile version..    if you are on a phone you can switch by clicking the button that is at the very bottom of every page that says "full version"

in the reply window at the bottom of every topic you will first have to hit the "more reply options' button

in the new screen you will see below the text box that it says "attach files" and under that "choose files"   click choose files..   now in the new window that will pop up scroll through your computers or phones pictures and select the ones you want, (on my pc you have to click "open" to send it to the TIA website)

on my pc ti will automatically upload the picture to the website but not put it in the post, on my andriod phone i have to click "attach this file" which pops up right below the "choose files" button you previously clicked

now you see that it is just below the text box,   there is an option to add to post or delete,   click your courser or tap in the text box and i usually hit enter twice to seperate my pictures from my text, then click "add to post"   the picture will appear wherever your cursor was located and your done!  multiple pictures can be spaced  by just re clicking in the text box and clicking enter a few times to move the courser down a bit before you add the next picture.. also picture can be intertwined in text by just clicking your mouse anywhere within your text and adding the picture there

hopefully i didnt over complicate that too much, i tried to include as much detail as i could   if you have any problems then let me know..

if anyone else out there knows an easier way please chime in  :)

  7. i might have to consider that cutout tool as well if i continue doing any amount of drywall work..    i am using the m12 rotary tool with the dremel 565 cutout tool accessory.. after my second job and only about 15 holes it is already starting to make some funky noises and run weird..   maybe its just not intended to be used in all that drywall dust.... ceiling cutouts are especially bad because all the dust is falling on the tool and getting sucked into the motor...    time will tell     ill try to clean it out and see if that helps but i may have to get the right tool for the job

  8. sexy sexy sexy!! ..........im talking about the saw just so were clear! haha..      nothing tops the kapex in terms of DC

the shop is looking great man, i wish you slowed it down a bit durring the pan around the room showing the " mess"  take it easy on yourself.. not only is it under construction but its a shop. they are very rarely clean lol

  9. Great review vid man. I was curious about the always ready mode. I was under the impression that it would make the screw gun run constantly, similar to locking the trigger on a traditional drywall gun. Keep up the good work!

thanks man!  yeah the always ready or "push drive" as makita calls it is an excellent feature... its how i use the tool 99% of the time (possibly 100%)    its great not to have to constantly listen to the tool run between screws, also saving battery is a plus.

the tools does have a trigger lock like a corded drill does and you can engage that trigger lock in both the standard mode (so it will run and should just like a corded drill) and also in the push drive mode

  10. Ner great job. Awesome drill, but u still need a dewalt with the feeder.

ouch... i don't know about that....   i think i would grab a hand screwdriver before something yellow!!!!   hahahaha   just messing around!

a part of me does hope that makita comes out with an autofeed attachment for this drill but like i said in my video i really like the idea of not having to keep multiple types of screws in my trailer..

having an autofeed attachment could possible change things though... that way i wouldn't be forced into using strips.. if i had strips on hand i could use them and if i happened to run out of them mid job i could just switch to loose screws to finish the day and not be forced to stop work and run back to the store

  11. no doubt that is one fine looking kit!!     are you already in the m12 line or will this be your cherry pop???

you didn't think that by asking our opinions you would have anyone say "no, don't get it" did you?  haha   the only thing we all love more than spending our own money is spending others!      you running this one by the wife of just your addict buddies :)

  12. I must be the only person that doesn't care who builds his pickup as long as it's big3 I had both a 06 Ford and 08 Chevy lease both were nice trucks. There were things I didn't like about either truck though, but if the deal is good I wouldn't mind driving any of them. My mantra is who has the cheapest lease.

not me man, GMC first.. Chevy is a fine second choice.  i just prefer the look of the gmc trucks more..    i think dodge and especially ford would have to pay me to drive one of their trucks!  lol!!!    i actually don't have anything against ford or dodge and i agree that they all make very nice trucks.  they each definitely have their plusses and minuses.    for me its more of a family rooted thing.  my great grandfather actually owned a chevy dealership which was eventually owned by my grandfather.   GM's have always been what my family has owned, trucks and vans especially..

  13. i don't have either of those but i do have two bosch lasers and they are both great!

out of the two you listed i would say if you can swing the extra cost then go with the gcl25    it is going to give you a lot more functionality.

I have the bosch 2 point plumb bob laser  gpl2 which works very nicely and i also have the bosch gll3-80 which is a 3 axis, 360 degree laser   that thing will do everything you need and more but you pay for it.

another cool laser they just came out with is the gll2-20    its much cheaper than previous 360 degree options out there.. not sure if that would fit the bill for you

  14. Bigmike, comp, madman and kwc,

Thanks guys! I know it's no masterpiece but I wanted to just make one and have fun with it.. not stress over all the details being perfect.

Bigmike and madman, I'm glad you guys like my NER gear! I put some time and money into the logo and am pretty fond of it myself :) that's standard equipment for every job every day. I require both myself and my guy Ryan to always have my logo visible on the outermost piece of clothing were wearing on the job to keep a uniform, clean appearance for our customers.. we've got everything from t-shirts to insulated carhartt jackets and everything inbetween!!

I'm glad you guys like the review and really appreciate the YouTube love!

  15. Thanks for taking the time, that's a nice looking unit. Would love to see big red follow in Makitas footsteps on this one. The small things like light placement, and the option to disable it are very well thought out. Auto-On is excellent as well.

Again, good job, would like to see your thoughts on some M12 stuff in the future!

Thanks man, it was pretty fun to make the video actually.

I'm suprised to see that Milwaukee doesn't have anything in the cordless drywall screwdriver market.. it seems like such a basic tool, I would think they would have something. I'm sure they are hard at work coming out with something great now that really all the big names have new units out.

I'll make sure to keep m12 at the front of my list!

    Thanks for the comments!

  16. if your going to go 18v then i would suggest you seriously consider that new brushless milwaukee kit.. i would take that over anything yellow in an instant.

but.... my suggestion would be to go Milwaukee m12   get the kit with the fuel impact and drill.   its great to have them both, the impact is really much nicer for driving screws and the drill fills in everything else   also if you on a project that requires pre drilling and driving screws then it is really nice to have two units going.

I know dwain mentioned the feel in the hand but i would just say head to a store that has m12 and check them out for yourself.. keep in mind that the handle was slightly redesigned for the fuel models so make sure you test one of those.

right now you can take advantage of the free tool/battery deal home depot and others are having   that will really stretch your dollar.

the m12 line is huge and they are continually expanding it so if you ever wanted to add tools to your arsenal like a multi tool, reciprocating saw, circular saw etc. etc. etc. you know they will have it.. also m12 bare tools tend to be a lot less expensive than the m18 which will help save you money down the road.

I have a huge assortment of Makita 18v tools and also a good selection of milwaukee fuel m12    I do residential remodeling and finish work and the Milwaukee will do %99 of what i do    i am pretty confident they will do everything you need

also, as others have said.. steer clear of the shockwave bits..  they are junk..   makita golds are the best bet but honestly a nice ryobi assortment will probably serve you just fine and will be much cheaper.

  17. thats a good sized list but all really good stuff to have.. how quickly do they expect you to get it?

i can see the benefit for them is one, not having to buy and maintain tools but also that you will tend to take care of your own tools better resulting in less down time and two,  having the right tools on site to get the job done saves a bunch of time for the company.

being self employed owning a remodeling company my list of tools is insanely huge but i love having the right tools for the job!!
