  1. Thanks everyone it does suck but no one was hurt so that's what counts. I did lose some stuff, any parts that were in a small cardboard box are gone. I had a magnetic strip screwed to the underside of the lid with some screwdrivers and small tools on it. I didn't look for the lid because I was probably a mile away from where it ripped off by the time I was able to pull over. I saw all the cars coming down all the lanes so I knew it wasn't on the highway or else I would have gone back and took it off the road. It really scared the crap outta me it took a few minutes for me to calm down. The turnpike is a dangerous place so I needed to get back on the road quickly and safely. This could have been a lot worse someone could have gotten into an accident, it even could have rained and then the rest of the stuff in the box would have been trash. I'm trying to get the truck back together so I could go back to work, buying new stuff sucks. Crazy thing is my buddy called me today and said they broke into his truck Friday morning and stole a Demo Chipping Hammer that's worth over a $1000 and he couldn't go to work without it. Building America one house at a time proves to be very difficult. Everyone stay safe out there and keep your tools save as well!!

  2. When you reach Mach One on the highway and your toolbox disintegrates and all your stuff gets sucked out. What a crappy day but at least no one got hurt or hit with the lid, almost shit myself when I heard the noise. I have no idea what happened it was locked as evident by the latch damage. Maybe someone tried to break into it before hand and it broke when I was driving. Husky brand toolbox I bought over ten years ago, abused daily, sad to see it go.

  3. Yes, I screwed that up. I had a brainfart when I set the box. I just eye balled it and it came back to haunt me

I've already cut the plate so it fits. I'm just waiting for the paInt on it to dry. I painted it the same color as the door hardware so it matches. I need to change the outlet as well. It's currently almond but it needs to be white.

Probably have about half a day left between the paint and the other items before we can call it done. Just finished the shoe molding about an hour ago.

Usually 17 inches center of the box from the floor for outlets and 48 center of box for switches. I do see them all over the place on older homes. It has been fun following your project sad to see it almost done, I'm sure your happy that its almost done..lol

  4. That's fine for new construction, but without using some sort of wireless tech, it's really difficult and expensive to retrofit this sort of thing into an old house.

That's not true, I do it all the time I just did a job on Friday installing 5 new smoke detectors in an old home. Anytime an electrical inspection is done here and theres no smoke detectors or GFCI's in the kitchen and bath I fail inspection. The smoke detectors can be installed with in 1.5 to 2 hours, I will try to do a little post later on showing the process.

I have these in my house, they connect together wirelessly. I paid a pretty penny for them tho

Never seen these before, how much does one set you back?

  5. Know what you mean!

Had a costumer provide his own fittings when plumbing his newly remodeled house but they weren't shark bite brand and they actually failed! Flooded his whole bathroom upstairs and down! But I was off the hook, he signed for it

I see a bunch floods every year and there's really no way to prevent them things just break out of the blue. I've seen solder joints that are over 50 years old just pop off one day. Water makes the most damage in a house even worse than fires sometimes, just make sure you have good insurance!!

  6. I'm not sure which eye I should look at on his face

Yea he had surgery on his eye I don't think it healed yet, but I'm not sure what the surgery was suppose to correct. It might be because hes standing at an angle other videos are not that noticeable

  7. LEDs have come a long way in the last few years, now you really see the variations of light colors like soft white, bright white or even the daylight. Only time hells technology.

All the different color temperature's available now have made light bulb changing a hassle so I don't do it anymore. I only do one's that homeowner's can't get to like on tall 20 foot ceilings and on top of staircases but they must have the new bulbs there.

  8. I have 2 nest protects but that is a really cool option it also saves a bunch of cash too :)

I'm not a fan of Nest products there a little over priced. I don't know what code is in your area but we need a smoke detector in each bedroom and hallways connected to the bedroom plus they must all be interconnected. So for a four bedroom house six smoke detectors are required, only a crazy person would buy that many nest detectors. I have never personally installed one so I can't hate them to much..lol

  9. Wow Justin that is cool tech. What a smart idea!

It really is, I hope to see a TIA review on this one day :)

Ooh I want one. Then I'm going to want six. That's a whole lot cheaper than six Nest Protects.

Nest is for the birds  ;D Did you see what I did there..lol

  10. I don't know if it my age, my eye sight or I'm just fussy...but I can not stand the typical dim looking yellowish light from regular LED all the LED lights in my house are and only will be daylight style......

I'm more of a soft white guy, I guess its just your age..jk The daylight bulbs are a little to much when its night time your brain still things its day time, with soft white your brain realizes its time to go to sleep soon. It may be just me but a lot of people have said something similar. I do use 4 foot Cool White fluorescent's where ever I can, there about 4100k

I think that we have just become used the whiter look of leds that candescents just don't do the job anymore.

There's really only one problem with incandescent's they use to much electricity maybe two they don't last long. They dim very well and every LED manufacturer is trying to get there product to dim like an incandescent as well as trying to make the shape of the bulb the same as an incandescent. This is just my opinion

  11. You should go back after 6 months and see how it's holding up!

    Do another review.

Maybe commercial electric will send you some swag!

They should I by a ton of there stuff

Cool, ive been actually seeing these at HD a few times but wondered about quality. Now i know and  will get some in the future, thanks for the research :)

    Thanks, yea you definitely should

  12. Thanks Justin, this is what I was looking for to replace lights in my laundry room and second floor hall. You can't go,wrong for $24 for two. Thanks dude.

John, Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Thanks man I try. Go for it!! Plus a five year warranty.

    Looks good dude, great find!

Thanks!! That's the same thing I said great find

     how could you beat that?

  13. Those are meant for dry locations only. Might not want to put those outside. The electronics are not potted and the boards are not made out of anything corrosion resistant. No gaskets to keep moisture out either.

    Almost disposable for that price!

I am not sold on fixtures you have to throw away when the electronics fail. Sure they say the LEDs will last 40000 hours, but the electronics won't. The last thing we need is more junk in landfills.

That and the heat generated by the electronics stays right up there, cooking itself and guaranteed to be discolored within a few months.

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Yea I know they are for indoor use only but that's where they wanted it. The globe fits snug on the fixture you can't even slide a piece off paper in between and there's a rubber washer on the finial. It should last a few years even though its not potted or outdoor rated. I have been putting in Wall pack leds, parking lot lights and small led fixtures for my commercial customers over the recent years. I said the same thing when it fails the whole fixture is trash, you might be able to buy parts but it's cheaper to swap out the whole light. I've noticed individual leds burning out on the commercial fixtures I installed slowly but surely.

  14. Here's a little review on a twin pack Led fixture from Home Depot for only 24 dollars. As a sparky I always have to buy inexpensive fixtures when doing a re-wire or repair. I use to buy fixtures for 10 dollars plus buy two bulbs for the fixtures and the fixtures always looked cheap to me. One day I found this twin pack at HD which was basically the same price with bulbs I was paying for the other lights and gave it a shot. I went back and bought out the whole store it was expensive to do but it is worth it to provide my customers with a better product. These lights are awesome and brighter than the sun, plus two led lights for 24 dollars how could you go wrong. They have great specs, very well made, all copper wire and have a long life expectancy. They come pre assembled you don't have to take the globe apart which saves time to install, I took it apart so you can see inside. I really can't find anything negative to save about it expect if the light fails you have to replace the whole fixture. But Comes with a five year warranty and I installed over 30 without any problems. Don't know about if it will last the crazy 45 years it claims but I'm sure someone will replace it with something else before that..lol The last two pictures are a before and after fixture install. I most likely forgot to mention a million things..lol Now is the time to upgrade to Led lighting guys!!! You should only upgrade to led if you are using the fixture for more than 3 hours a day everyday. You most likely will not get your money back in energy savings if the fixture is used for less than 3 hours a day. Many pros and cons to led technology. If you have any lighting questions ask away!! I hope I did a some what good review :)

  15. My uncle works for a drilling company and his post is an old auger off a drill rig. Needless to say it hasn't been taken out.

Nice!! How is it in the ground?? Did he just drill it into the ground?

I have my mailbox get run over 3 times and blown up with firecrackers once so my solution was to put my mailbox by a tree and put a steel pole in with concrete hasent been hit ever sinve

Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk

Thats crazy. It better be a huge tree because they will still hit it here

Man that really stinks.  Time to reinforce the living crap out of the next one. Make the next offender say ouch for being an idiot

Yup, the next person who hits it will have parts missing off the car
