  1. So yea :)  Thanks again guys!! I'm pretty sure I would have bought it even if it didn't have the TIA crew approval just because its yellow..lol For some reason I was expecting it to be a little brighter but 500 lumens is 500 lumens. I just bought it this morning so I haven't used it yet so I guess time will tell I will be in an attic on Saturday. I'm hoping theirs no lights in the attic so I can use this

  2. I was looking for something on Google maps and stumbled upon my Uncle's work truck..lol Just another odd coincidence maybe maybe not but a lot of them happen to me basically everything is a coincidence in my life. Its funny I was looking for something and off in the distance the yellow sign caught my eye and I was like wait a minute I know that truck. Last two pictures I had, hes had that truck since 2004 I think. It got wrapped a few years ago after some lady with no drivers license crashed into him and put a hole in the side of the box.

No I was just asking about some of those hot wired meters you've dealt with with drug houses by passing the meter

Happens to farmers all the time. They pull it off the main spans of pivots and burn off the insulation with embedded ID numbers. They passed a law recently here that makes it illegal to buy or sell wire with burned off insulation so that has helped a little.

You get less money for copper that has had insulation burned off, but copper prices are super low right now. Its not even worth it. I think Southwire has an ID code on one of the strands of wire so if you burn the insulation its still on the wire.

  5. Does anyone have the DCL050 Dewalt Area Light, if so what are the cons if any. How has the pivoting head held up and will this work well in an attic . Has the hook held up and can it be hung by a 2x4. I will probably be purchasing it this week unless you guys don't recommend it. ANy help is much appreciated, Thanks guys!!!

  7. Super late post, I'm trying to make the time to post and interact with you guys. I got a lot of stuff saved to share since I've been absent from here. This is forsure a Trick no treats here. FPL was called out late that night and shut the building down after finding a cut Neutral from the main feeder coming off trans. Damn crackheads needed some more sugar that night.

Nice to see some posts again dude! Have you run into any more of those illegal hookups?

Thanks, yea I just gave a price on one to change out like two days ago there thinking about it. They have no power so they need to think fast..lol Someone should be getting sued over this. They actually are illegal because that main breaker has to be bolted down. But why do you say its illegal??

That's interesting how they did that with those bars from the meter base over to that disconnect. Never seen that, only ever seen ones like that square D box, if they have one on the house at all.

The old setup was just one box, anytime theres a meter combo or a meter bank the manufacture just uses a metal bar to run power to breaker. Its cheaper for them to make it like that instead of using wire but some company's use a mixture of metal and wire to run the circuit. Hope that makes sense

  10. Every single one of these Siemens meter mains are burning up in two different communities in my area. I have done three this year and lost count of how many estimates given over the phone for these. They are only around ten years old or so. I estimate maybe there is about 200 hundred of these still in service the rest have been changed. This one looks bad because feeders from Utility and panel are extremely short the neutral for the panel had to be spliced. Bonding bridge was added for low voltage. Siemens panel are junk, this new setup with an actual main instead of a branch type breaker will last the test of time. I'am using a Siemens meter can here but I don't have a problem with there meters and not many manufactures make those small cans. And that Square D main will last as long as the house is standing. I believe the problem is using a branch circuit breaker type instead of a main is a factor in why these are failing. Even though you can plug a 125 amp breaker on any panel as long as your service is rated for it. A load calculation always has to be done here for any electrical work and 125 amps works but they should be 150 amps. I have upgraded others to 150 amps because the feeders were burnt and had to be pulled. This one had to stay 125 because the feeders were still good but it was really short.

Lowe's is for chicks..lol Nobody goes there I know there losing money its been like that since they built the place. I went there on black friday just to see how empty it was, I was like the only one there. It is still a mystery why they burned down the Home Depot by me and then knocked it down just a few months after the fire. This happened in 2013 and Lowe's still didn't gain any customers they just went to the other HD thats a few miles away. I will admit the two HD's seemed pointless being so close to each other. The HD had minor fire damage and the fire never penetrated the roof, it seems like an insurance scam. The HD was not that old maybe only like 8 years or so, but its just an empty lot now. Maybe HD was losing money having the two stores. When I saw them tearing it down I couldn't believe it such a waste of money to knockdown a newer building. That little smoke cloud is about as bad as it got, ask yourself how does this become a tear down. America needs to stop being so wasteful. Don't know why I started talking about this but it bothers me how you can just cash in on something like this. Tell me what you think

  13. Yea multidrivers, and meters are made overseas and anything with lots of parts is made overseas from them. But I like Klein because I learned the trades with them, even if the quality is not what it use to be its still better then Harbor Freight..lol Plus if a tool is left behind on a job its not expensive to replace, attic work eats up tools like nobody's business. If you drop a screwdriver in blown in insulation you will not find it. Also if you are crawling in the attic like G.I Joe tools fall out your pocket or hands.

If shopping just for "snips" as Phone Guys call them .... I have always preferred the wiss. There is also a type with a fat red handle with a very pointy tip used for Kevlar that work well, maybe wiss, not sure of the brand.....Depends on your use.

Just an opinion from Foneguy the Phone Guy ...?????

Yes snips :P I'm a little rusty on the datacom lingo..lol I use the Klein 21010-6 with the larger yellow handle. Nice to meet you Foneguy

I couldn't find any Klein's at the, 3 HDs I went to, I looked for that set. The scissors are awsone and sharp as razors. My dad always carried them in his belt pouch, he was a master contractor for phone company and is a master electrician. Those are very handy for snipping the little thin copper wires in phone boxes and they will cut a penny and no knick or dull, wish I still had a pair but I can get a pair from him. The linesman pliers are legendary and strippers are great but screwdrivers suck compared to the German offerings. They are made by pratt Reed and I've seen them with many brand names even ideal and I like that brand as well I'd say maybe a little better since they own sk.

Yup scissors are a low voltage mans best friend. You can order it online as many as you want free shipping on $45 orders. Let me know if this works for you

Saw the kit, I think it's worth it, years past they had nicer kits though with a Klein pouch and more pliers

Would you know where I can find a picture of that kit somewhere?

The lineman are nice and the stubby, i go thru about 2 Phillips a year, I don't like their tick testers and I'm not sure why you'd need those scissors I've never seen anyone carry scissors on them. That's just my experience

There testers do seem to give you a false reading just by bumping something, and I use there scissor's for datacom work. Believe it or not scissor's are a data mans number one tool.

Looks like a reasonable deal. I haven't heard great things about Klein screwdrivers in a while. Their lineman's pliers though are top notch. I'm looking to get one of the flagship pairs with the comfy grip and fishtape puller etc.

You mean these baby's..lol These don't have the tape puller though, their is a red handle vinyl pliers that I prefer over these though.

  19. I was suppose to buy this on Tuesday when I was there but forgot. $50 at Home Depot, I own all these tools already some even triples or quads but it was a fair price. Did anyone buy this and what do you thing about the price? Combo kits are always less money then buying individually but sometimes the combo kits don't sound like good deals.
