How much does the Dewalt blower cost?
I got mine for $179 at Lowes.
Nice write up and love the points. I have been using the Makita and love it also.
Thanks. Is the makita an X2?

I go to lowes all the time. The only reason I go there is because lowes is 5 mins away and Home Depot is 30 mins.
I wish they would build a Home Depot closer to me.

The EGO is a 2ah 56v battery and the DeWalt has a 5ah 20v.
I also think there is some runtime gains with being able to easily feather the trigger on the DeWalt. With the EGO you end up running it at one speed and hitting the turbo button for a boost.
-
The EGO sold on eBay. Now I just have the DeWalt and Stihl.

I had to travel up to IN this week for work.
I came home and found that that my wife had been using the Dewalt blower. She had cleaned off our back porch and drive way. That had never happened with the EGO. I asked what she thought and she said it worked great. I asked if she liked how the controls worked and she said it just seemed natural. I had tried to get her to use the EGO before and she hated the trigger and controls. She commented on how light the DeWalt felt.
If that's not a huge recommendation I don't know what it.

I'm a full time carpenter. Work for myself and HAVE to take care of my shit, otherwise I don't make money.
Few times a year I like to go through all my cordless tools and clean them up, blow all the debris out, lube all the quick locks and chucks, wipe them down etc. just got done doing that this evening.
We have the same philosophy.
I just don't understand people that trash their tools.

Let us how you like the imperial blades.
I've been using Bosch blades myself.

Kruton,
Did you ever pick up a colt?
I bought a PR20EVS eBay for $45 shipped. It came in yesterday. I like it. I threw a round over bit in it and tried it out on a scrap of wood. It seems like it's just what I was looking for.

@ ProToolNut.
Don't forget you have to mix gas and oil for the Stihl 4-Mix 4 strokes.
I had a guy the other day argue with me that the Stihl 4-Mix was a two stroke. The only argument he could come up with was you have to mix oil in the gas. I tried to explain that is has valves and makes 4 cycles. It was like arguing with a fence post. We had to just agree to disagree.

Simplicity. Problem with the newer ones is all the crap on them to make them meet EPA requirements.

. Thanks Jason I emailed them the serial number and it's out of warranty bro I'm thinking about mayby picking up a new kit with free tool from HD or should I just try and fix mine?
Sorry to hear that. I would have to take it apart and see what was going on inside.

. C Harris that blower is awesome and congrats I love mine man I use is about twice a week my grass has been growing crazy with the humid weather we've been having over here and the blower works amazing for being a 20v/18v
Thanks. I'm impressed with it. It's not a substitute for my gas blower but it has really good power.
I've been surprised just how much I use a cordless blower. I have a lot and a half covered with large hardwood trees. I'm constantly blowing leaves off the driveway. My dog slings mulch out on the concrete. It's nice to be able to just grab up the blower and blow it off.
I started a thread here with my thoughts on the Dewalt 20v vs the EGO.

I've had the EGO for a while now and I've been happy with it overall. It doesn't have the power of my little stihl gas blower but it's been handy for small stuff.
I've been eyeing the new DeWalt blowers for a while now. I debated for a while if I wanted to add another battery platform. I like the design style of the 20v Dewalt better than the 40v. I decided to go ahead and pick one up yesterday.
I had some time this afternoon to use the Dewalt and EGO back to back. I blew some leaves, hickory nuts, grass clippings.
Here are my thoughts.
First of all let discuss power. I know what you are thinking. 56V vs 20V There shouldn't be any comparison, but they are closer than you might imagine. The Dewalt has a little more power than the EGO set on high. The EGO has slightly more power with the turbo button pressed. I used them in the yard and I was able to move about the same size stuff with both blowers.
Ergonomics go without a doubt to the Dewalt. The variable speed trigger is awesome. Throttle response is great on the Dewalt. The ego has a lengthy delay when you press the trigger. I know this may not seem like a big deal but it is really nice to be able to blow small stuff out of the flower beds then press the trigger and blast stuff off the drive way. On the EGO you have to adjust the speed with your other hand. Balance is also much better on the Dewalt. The EGO balances on the trigger. The trigger is long and placed where you really need to be holding the handle. Maybe it would be better with a bigger battery. I only have the 2AH. It almost feels like you have to drop the front of the blower to release the trigger. If you want to keep the front level you have to really torque the handle. The Dewalt feels natural in your hand.
The Dewalt 20v is the clear winner for me. Now I just have to stay away from the Dewalt trimmers.
Anyone want to buy an EGO?

an adapter would be great lol
I agree. That was the biggest hang up about me getting this blower.
I got to thinking about it and I wouldn't be adding a battery platform. Just changing from EGO to Dewalt.
-
looks like everyone is getting it....i just sold and traded my 5.0s
I had got rid of all my DeWalt 20v tools and batteries a while back. I sure wish I could use the 10-15 Milwaukee batteries I have on it.

I picked one up at lowes yesterday. I'm really liking it. I like it better than the ego. I'm going to start a new topic over in the OPE section.

I have some of the Irwin powerslot ones from Lowes. They are not bad and made in Germany. Some locations have them marked down to ~$15.

I don't have any experience with the brushed ones.
I do have the M12 Fuel. It's an awesome tool.

I've never regretted going for the pro line. I have one of the older 2 stroke pro line trimmers. FS80R

I wasn't sure how their multi tools stacked up. I was also looking at the corded Bosch and Fein. Sounds like I may wait and find something else to get me into the 18v Mikwaukee line. Right now the OMT is the only tool I have a real need for. Thanks for the info Jason.
