  1. It's A LOT of work. If you put it into a time/savings ratio, it's better for some to pay retail prices or buy online. Years ago, I started to put a value on my time and I am up to $65 an hour for personal time since I got married and have two small children. So if I am not making or saving at least that, it's not worth it to me.

    That's a good point.

  2. The holy-cow deals are hard to find for casual shoppers.  There are people out there that turn a good profit running down deeply discounted items and selling them online or craigslist.  There have been situations where people have carts full of penny deals which to me suggests there is either a shady customer hiding product in the store until the price drops or a coordinated effort between an employee and the customer.

Either way, it isn't easy.  Good luck.

I agree it's a lot of work. Here in NC the stores are usually picked clean. I have found a few good deals but it takes 2-3hours of looking around the store. You also have to go 3-4 times a week if you want to find the good mark downs.

  3. The Ebay seller of the 2457-20 turned out to be a get the "money and run" seller. So I did not get the 2457-20. I did put in a claim to Ebay and they refunded my money. I had thought my wait for a bargain was over but when the 2457-20 did not come I could not wait any longer so I took my Harbor Freight 20% coupon and started trying to get 20% off on the 2457-20 at Home Depot. It took six try's but finally found a cashier that took 20% off.

How many feedback did they have? Sorry to hear about that.

At least you got your ratchet.

  4. Awesome!! Can't beat that kinda discount!!

Hate it when that happens. But at the same time love it, love it so friggin much ;D

Wow c Harris!!! 100$ bucks off that's great!!! Io love my beast 2763!

That is awesome CHaris congrats man!

    Thanks,

It's really hard to pass up a Fuel tool deal.

  5. I agree with dwain. The particular application would make a difference. If your turning a small bit I would have no doubt the M12 fuel with a 4.0 battery would win over a brushed M18 w/1.5 AH battery. With bigger bits I would be interested in seeing someone do that comparison.

  6. Ok I know I have a problem now. I went in my HD and was looking around at the tools. To my surprise there sat a 2763-22 kit. There was no price on it. I went up to the counter to get a price. They said someone had ordered it online then returned it. The manger said he would take $100 off the price. I couldn't resist.

Did I really need it? Probably not. Did I want it? Absolutely. Now I just need a second job to cover my addition. LOL!

  7. It's a little beast of a saw! And I'm very impressed with it.

    Power:

It has a good amount of power, I was able to bog it down however when cutting some solid oak and beech wood. I was just trying to test the limits of the saw, but with normal use in 2 by materials and plywood, it ran through it like butter.

    Portability:

This saw is light weight and a perfect saw to use for "pick up and go" type situations.

    Battery life:

It's been pretty good, lasts me about a week on a 4.0 battery. I use it lightly around the shop to cut down plywood to manageable sizes. I also use it to cut up materials that come off the CNC machine. It get's used everyday, here and there.

    Dust:

There is no blower or dust ejection, so dust gets everywhere. This might be a concern for some people, I guess, but its not for me.

    Build:

This does not feel like a toy at all. Once you have it in your hands, you can tell that it's quality. I've used a Ryobi circ saw and that felt like a toy. The Milwaukee feels really solid. I especially like the depth adjustment and the bevel adjustments on this saw. I've also dropped it a few times and banged it against some stairs on accident and it's held up very well.

    Conclusion:

I really like this saw. I've been letting the guys in the fabrication department use it and they love it. It's great to chop things up for the trash, cut down larger plywood, I've even built some quick saw horses with 15 degree compound cuts through 2 by materials with it. Of course, I wouldn't use this to frame a house, but you can get a lot of work done with this small saw.

Thanks for typing up such a great review. I definatly have this saw on my wish list.

  8. I really like Milwaukee's 12V lineup. The only tools I have so far are the 12V Fuel Impact Driver, the Sawzall (brushed version) and the Fuel 5-3/8" Circular Saw. They all work very well.

I wish I had more insight into the tools that your looking to get.

How are you liking the Circular Saw?

  9. One thing the fuel hammer drill is really good at is drilling into plaster. My house was built in the 50s w/ plaster walls I use it all the time.

SDS rotary hammer is the way to go for drilling in concrete.

  10. I'm very happy with my M12 tools. The only one that I have on that list is the multi tool. I'm happy with it for light work. I usually reach for the M18 or Bosch MX30E for heavier cutting.

The M12 Fuel tools are awesome.

  11. Maybe I missed something, how are you finding these deals? Website or an Ap??

You have to drive to each store and check the prices. Each store operates independently setting mark down prices. I racked up over 200 miles last Saturday driving between stores. I found a few smaller items, but it's debatable if it was worth the gas and time. I was really hoping to find one of the fuel kits new in the box. No luck. When I talked to a couple of the employees they said one person came through and cleaned out there inventory the day of the mark downs. So many people hunt down this stuff to sell on Craigslist and eBay it's really hard to find anything.

If anyone lives in central NC I can save you a lot of time, I have checked and none of the stores in this area have the impact.

  12. Another benefit to brushless motors is the timing can be adjusted through the speed controller. In the RC world you can plug your electronics into you computer and look at the data logs and set parameters. You can set stuff like soft start, brakes, timing, etc. with the timing you can advance to get more power or retard to get longer run times. There are cards or thumb drives that you can use at the field to program.

There is no reason tool manufacturers couldn't setup this for our tools.

Brushes are the timing for brushed motors.

  13. My Fuel Sawzall came in from HD today! I'm so excited. My wife looked at me like I was crazy! Ha! I'm about to saw something as soon as the the little tyke's in bed.

Now, what to do with this packaged battery? Anybody sell them on ebay before? What should I expect from a packaged 4.0 bat? Manufacture date code shows February 2015. Pity you can't just return them for credit.

Lol! Our wives think a like.

    Congrats.

You could cut down the bushes around the house.

  14. These are my favorite riding boots. Just a clean classic design that offer good protection. They are made for aerostitch by sidi. They only drawback is they take for ever to get broke in, but once you do they should last a million miles. I have yet to be able to find a pair of street riding boots that I like. I just end up wearing the combat touring boots.

  15. I have never seen a E900. Cool bike. You must have had a blast on that thing!

The M900 is a great looking bike.. too bad it was beat up. It's crazy that a 20 year old bike still looks so good today, their designs are very timeless

I ended up with an Arai Ducati strada tour x4. It's just the painted up version of the XD-4

I pulled the visor and it gives it a bad ass street look

I don't have anything to compare it to but it seems a little loud above 70 or so.. great ventilation though.. I threw ear plugs in on my last long ride and it made it much more enjoyable

My wife ended up with the shoei rf-1200

Yes the monster is a timeless design.

That is a dual sport helmet. They are designed with the large vents at your mouth. When you are riding off road you are many times moving slow and working hard. With a regular street helmet the face shield will fog up. The big mouth vents helps get your breath out. Also the face shield goes farther down your cheeks to allow better vision of the ground. I have one of the first gen XD's. Before they were renamed the XD they were called the dual sport. I bought one the first year they came out. I don't wear it anymore because it's a 1993 model. Many will say you should replace them every 5 years I use them a little longer, but 1993 is too old. If you want to check the date on yours look at the cover around the long side of the strap. It is stamped there. My XD is a sizable amount louder than the Quantum /f I have. I still like it though. Did you figure out the little red snap at the end of the strap? It keeps the strap from slapping you at speed.

Here is a picture of the XD and the Quantum /f

  16. Thanks man!

The dealer I bought it from also had ktm, aprilia (but no shiver) and Kawasaki.. I liked the ktms second best for sure out of what was there.. sat on the versys but the wife and I just weren't that into it..

From the moment we walked into the store we both couldn't stop looking at this bike..

What monster did you look at?

Funny you mentioned bar end mirrors.. just after I made the post I actually ordered some weighted bar ends and crg arrow bar end mirrors! The stock mirrors vibrate like crazy and you can't see anything out of them.

When I was getting my 600 mile service done there was a guy there who pulled up with an older duc that had the dry clutch.. the sound was cool and definitely unique.. I'll stick with the wet though!

Monsters just have to have bar end mirrors.

It was a 1996 M900 sitting on the side of the road. It wasn't in very good condition. It had cheap looking chrome handlebars, Aftermarket pegs that wouldn't fold up, Dented tank, all signs of a crashed bike. I called just to see how cheap it was. The guy wanted $3500 and it has 25k miles. I wouldn't be interested at that price considering the condition.

I have had a couple of the E900 Elefant's. I went on my 16th birthday and got my car and motorcycle license. What was funny was I was more nervous about the car test. We had one of the E900's that I rode all the time back then.
