Figure I would post some pics of the fence. Just so everyone can see what I'm dealing with. I'm all for taking the section that is on my side of property line down however that would leave the ends of the fence still up since they are not the issue at hand.
At this point, I think I'm just going to move the long section back the 20" onto the property line and just be done with it. It's going to cost me about $100 in line and terminal posts and a day of my time.

Figure I would pose this question out to the crew and see what their take is on it.
On the left hand side of my lot, there is a chain link fence that runs parallel to my drive way and they makes a 90* turn and runs back to the neighbors garage, The problem is that when the neighbor put the fence up it was discovered that it was installed over the property line by about 20" about a year after.
After we found the issue, The neighbor and I talked about it and we both looked at the lot survey and agreed that it was over and if it ever became as issue that he would move the fence. At the time it wasn't a big deal because we got along pretty well and I didn't feel like making it an issue since essentially the section of land borders the driveway and is just a grass strip.
As you know, one of the projects I worked on over the summer was filling in my backyard. (The Big Fill). Since I've built the retaining wall and leveled everything out, I no longer have access to the back of the garage from the right hand side. I have to access it from the left hand side. With the fence being over the property line, I essentially have about 36" from the corner of my garage to the fence. As I was working on the project, I talked to the owner and mentioned that I now needed the fence moved because of access issues. He said that he would move it.
Here is were it get's interesting, in the past 7 years he had divorced and moved out.The property became a rental and he had various tenants living there. In the last 6 months, he became divorced again and the tenant who was there was not paying and essentially left in the middle of the night. The house has been abandoned for the last 4 months and last week the owner sent me a text message saying to do what ever I wanted to do with the fence and that the house was going into foreclosure.
So essentially, I'm being left holding the bag on this stupid fence. Knowing the owner has no intentions of moving it on his own, It's now up to me to deal with it. So what are my options?
1.Cut it down.
2.Move the fence myself.
3.Talk to the town and have them pursue it?
4. Contact the bank that owns the property and file a "lean" or some other type of complaint.
The section is about 60' long and if I had to buy some new line and terminal posts it wouldn't be that big of a deal, but I have enough stuff to do than have to worry about moving someone else's fence..

WTF.
I guess the guy never saw a 90 elbow before or a tape measure. The stud on the left is about 6" too short as well.

I have the Harbor Freight knock off's of the Hansen's. They work pretty well, however you always have sockets and adapters (Hex, Torx, E-Socket) that don't necessarily fall into the the same organizational grouping of everything else. To get around it, I've purchased some of the cheap socket rails and I then fastened the rails to a strip of wood. Doing this I can then organize the oddballs pretty well.
I'll take some pictures on Sunday morning on how I have my socket drawer organized,

The wife picked up the husky portable table I've been waiting. Only reason I got it early was she didn't wrap it.
You're going to love it. I have the Keter version and as this point it's my favorite tool in the garage.

That sucks. We just went through a similar scenario over Thanksgiving. Had to close out the accounts and start from scratch.
Like you said this is becoming all too common. It's more surprising to find someone that hasn't been a victim of fraud.
My wife and I have taken measures to limit electronic payments and pay cash whenever we can but still manage to be victimized.

Lol xc600. the siding had blown off. If it hasn't they wouldn't of never known. I bet the heating bill shows something though. Lol.

I can't even imagine the utility bills.
I would be even worried about water and moisture getting into the drywall. There has to be mold in the place at this point.

Yes, that's the best part of the forum. Honest and helpful info with no ego's to deal with.
I'm going to finish the rest of the trim work once we get through Christmas and then start dealing with the floor over New Years.

Very cool. I've been thinking about building something like that off the back of my garage for all of the yard stuff.

How did they not notice that was something was wrong. Just on a noise level alone they must be able to hear a cricket farting out in the grass.

Saw it Sat morning. It was awesome. Exceeded all expectation. Probably the best in the series next to Empire.

I was going to put down hardibacker regardless. Then use the leveler if needed.
I imagine you can't put the leveler over the existing hardwood that's there now.

Thanks for getting back so fast with the paint color, it takes me awhile to pick a color. Then I paint the walls and when it dries I'm like that's not really what I wanted, so I just leave it and paint the room again in a few years..lol Hey for your tiling you should try the perfect level master t-lock system it does cost some money but it is worth it Home Depot has there own system which is similar and cheaper. Its a 2 part system a spacer and a wedge it will make your tile dead level.
Yes, I saw the T-Lock system on some of the videos I watched. Didn't realize HD had something similar. I'll go check it out.
No problem on the paint color. Glad I could help.

IF you don't have a 8' straight a 4' will do but like comp said a string is all so good or you could spend the money on this. This is what I use.
That thing is pretty cool. I could see why you bought it.
If you're in the Northeast any time soon feel free to swing by and give me a demo.

Hold on.
So there is no sheathing at all on the gables? It's just the rigid foam board?
-
It did struggle on silicone/saline canyon!!
Yes, it was about to high center and then it would have needed to resort to a rocking motion to get free.
That would have been awful...lol

Floors look great. Nice idea on re purposing the scraps on the workbench. The material is pretty hard and impervious to staining. Just don't get any standing water on it.

Congrats to all of the winners.
They pulled my old YouTube screen name "Dirk Diggler". I recently changed it to "Streeter's Garage" after my daughter asked me about the name and my wife giving me grief about it.
