  1. Now that you mention it. I could probably fit all my paint stuff in the 4. Drop cloths, trays, rollers, brushes, etc. Right now, all that stuff is scattered about different shelves in the garage.

    Anyone recommend a decent labeler?

I looked for a label maker not to long ago but didn't get very far with it lol. It is nice having everything in one box. Can take it with you and you know everything is there. Anything paint related is in the box minus drop cloths or trays. Paint sticks and openers are in there as well. No more trying to remember where stuff is scattered at.

  2. BK, I've got the ROS65VCL. Absolutely love the machine. Generally speaking Bosch sells the tools with the inserts or none and in many cases, tool only with the l boxx. I just bought the brushless hammer drill from HD tool only and it came with the insert. I think Bosch wants you to buy the Sortimo cases on their own. They are pretty expensive, less than the Dewalt cases, a little less than the standard Systainers, but have a ton of variety. I think I currently have about six l boxxes, three 1a's, one 1, one 2 and one 3. With Festool, my tools come packaged in a sized Tanos Systainer.

Thus far my MXH multi tool and my ROS65VCL came in l boxes. Truthfully I keep all of my cordless Bosch tools out of the boxes with my ROS snuggled up in its l boxx in a drawer u der my assembly table.

Have you gotten the hammer drill in? How do you like it? I had it in my cart for a month and never pulled the trigger. I really should have it was a great price for less than $90. :(

  3. Random question. Any of you have any of the 4's? If so, wth are you guys stuffing in them? These things are DEEP! I just picked up two of them and I am now wondering if I even need any this size.

I have 2 lboxx3's filled with stuff. One box has all paint supplies and another has my sander, grinder and accessories for both in them. I doubt I would ever get a lboxx4.

  4. Possibly. If I remember right I went in to look at the ridgid table saw. I knew it was going on sale for black Friday and also checked out the kobalt saw as well. Both are still on sale and need to decide which one to get. The kobalt is $100 cheaper. Decisions decisions.

  5. I like the Milwaukee chuck, grip and where the light is better than the Bosch...luckily with either, you can't really go wrong. I am not positive but I don't think Bosch has a battery power indicator, which would kinda suck. What Bosch has that is by far superior than everyone else is their quick change, I use it on my Milwaukee drill and I couldn't be happier. It barely wobbles(All other quick change wobbles, I'm talking with 6" bits for wobble testing sake) and it's one handed operation, you don't have to pull and hold to release the bit.

This is the "Click-Change" quick change:

BTW, don't buy this kit now. It's $19.47, it's been going up and down in price. Lowest I've seen is $13, it was steady at $15 for the past week until I guess today.

Bosch batteries have power indicators. Makita is just now putting indicators on their batteries.

  6. i love my bosch tools and am looking to expand mine. I get that new tools come out all the time but that doesnt render that other tool obsolete. The tool worked great before but when that new tool comes out it is automatically junk. I am currently looking at the bosch cordless recip saw myself. I am looking to replace my craftsman 18v recip saw. That saw is old and I guarantee I did not use it to its full potential and I probably wont with the new one either. I think people look to hard into numbers and specs. Look at Jay bates recent vid on his second channel where he is doing tool talk. He builds amazing items with ryobi products. Are they the best? no but it has a lot to do with the person behind the tool.

Don't get me wrong, if you have the means and just want a new "better" tool, go for it. I play pool a lot. I could buy a $100 cue and play just as well as my custom cue. But I have the custom cue and play with it because I wanted it.

All I'm saying is stats are not everything. I have a microwave with twenty buttons and they do not all get used.

  7. Like states before buy with what you will be doing in mind. A mechanic will need a different drawer configuration than a wood worker or metal worker. Bow big can you go and budget? Always buy bigger than what you think you need. Tool boxes fill up fast and unexpectedly.

  8. Yea, I can always park close to the door.

In 2003 or so when they switched Kobalt from J.H. Williams to Danher made tools, I was disappointed. The original Kobalt line was the best value in tools bar none. The sockets were Snap-On, ratchets and wrenches were Blue Point, all from the Snap-On family. After the Danher switch, most items were genetically identical to Craftsman or Allen tools. Kobalt lost the unique identity and the tools were continually cheapened to meet price point. They lost me around 2006 and by the end of the Danaher run around 2012, the Taiwan made stuff they have now is actually an improvement.

Shit happens I guess. I still preferred Lowe's at that point. Then in a short few months they lost or dropped Milwaukee, dropped Klein and bought the rights to use the Southwire name on an exclusive electrical/telecom line, and then dropped both Channellock and Knipex in favor of their Kobalt shit, again an exclusively grab.

My experience is that anything available exclusively at either HD or Lowe's automatically translates to pure, unfiltered, SHIT.

HD has exclusive brands too, but at least they give me a higher quality option on all but mechanics tools.

Fuck Lowe's and their shitty tools

Channelock is still available at my Lowes.

  9. Our Menards has the 16 gauge bosch nailer for $88 after sale and rebate. I may swing by and grab one for that price. Do you like your 16 gauge?

Same thing here. I almost picked one up myself but I like the fit and finish on the Masterforce better. For the price I should have bought it though.

  10. I really like the Milwaukee box too if I could get a good deal on it if they go on clearance I would be all in right away. I'm just thinking if I had to pay full price and my own personal needs I start to think maybe I don't need as heavy duty of a box. I'm not going to be loading it up too crazy and moving it around often. That sort of stuff comes to mind.

good points. I am not a tradesman by profession. I look at it as I only want to spend this type of money once. There are trade offs. If you need a bigger box then dont get a smaller one. a 52" wouldnt fit in my garage, 46 and 41 will. I decided to buy bigger as you will always fill it up. Just like a gun safe, I dont own 27 guns but my safe is nearly full.

  11. I looked at the Husky too but ultimately bought the Milwaukee Box. Although they look very similar the Milwaukee box seemed a lot more solid. The Caster supports are much thicker, the soft close drawers are really nice, the Milwaukee lid has a handle, and I really like the integrated power strips. I have 2 Milwuakee charges on the side of the box and 2 Ryobi 40v chargers in the lid, it's nice to have everything in one place and charging at the flip of a switch.

These are the reasons why I went with the Milwaukee. I was tempted to spend less and get the 41" Husky as the 51" was too big. The benefits of the Milwaukee box justified the extra cost.
