  1. I'm really bad at retaining short term information and just overall short term memory. My long-term memory is fantastic, but if someone tells me a phone number, if I'm not writing it down I will forget in literally 3 seconds. I'm also bad when someone is spelling out a name for me and I'm entering it into a computer, it's like I can't force myself to listen. I hear them speaking but I don't retain the information...but it's only with letters and numbers. If they're telling me a story, I can be doing something that has my full attention and I can comprehend the entire story. I won't remember a customer that comes in a couple days later but if they come in a few months later, no problem, I can recall what we fixed and the symptoms.

  2. I'm thinking this would be GREAT to add onto a leg of your work bench. I can't tell you how many times I am looking for a place to put my drill down and it ends up on the floor or a misc shelf...for me to forget where I put it and have to look around.

  3. Speaking of gas here is a funning story....It was a spit milk out my nose moment. I swear this is true and just saw it on the news, there was a guy at a gas station pumping gas and there was a spider crawling next to the gas cap so this idiot takes his lighter and lights the spider on fire, you can guess what happen next.....flames everywhere, luckly no one was hurt....the gas station attendent came out to put the flames out.....amazing how stupid people can be.

Did you see the story last week about the lady that jumped out of a moving car(with her son in the back seat) because she saw a spider? hahaha

  4. There's my meter

Oh ok, that explains it. I'm using these guys(not my pics):

WTF is up with this last meter's leads?! Where do you even get those!?

This is probably where the problem is...I use mine every day, in several different modes. I guess a lot of the guys buying these Milwaukee meters only really need voltage and continuity.

  5. It's a 24'' vizio tv

Make sure you don't use too big of a mount or torque the screws in the tv too tight. Often on TVs under 32" they are metal tabs with the threaded insert attached to molded plastic on the back. I've seen heavy mounts break those plastic pieces, the TV won't fall but the screws won't come out because the metal will just spin inside the back of the TV. Those screws only need to be finger tight.

  6. Would not buy any precision/analyst meter from a power-tools supplier, be it red, blue or yellow team. Not only is it almost the exact opposite in the electronic area.

Power-tools = is pretty inaccurate and noisy, but high in power. Even BL. Pretty crude stuff.

Analytic tools = would have to be precise, neatly filtered and doesn't pull power at all.

So not only do they probably lack sewere experience, they would probably need to pay some chinese no-brand name to make it for them. You could get OK/bad quality, but also shitty quality. High og decent quality is just to forget.

If I want ok/bad quality chinese (not crappy/shitty) I'd buy them under UNI-T brand, or just a totally cheap No-brand name shit (for really crude measurements) and not pay extra to get some power-tool makers put their sticker on it.

Off course, if you want anything decent, look towards Fluke, FLIR, Tektronix etc...

While I agree with this, the reason I was hoping for a good tool was because everyone on the various forums were raving about them. Guess you should always trust your gut. I may try to contact Milwaukee and see if they'll do something for me(like a discount on another tool) or just try to flip it.

Weird thing that had me questioning the choice before I received it was when I found out it ran off of two AA batteries...I've never known a multimeter to run off of anything other than a 9 volt.

  7. don't kid yourself............she is just entering it into inventory, if she sees anyone walking out with it without a proper slip as little as she is she will go for the throat.......

funny thing my other dog is older 16 years old this year and when I have someone come over to buy something when they are leaving she will flip out barking like crazy until I tell her they paid already they are good to go......only then she will put her head down and groan as she walks away.....everyone gets a kick out of it...lol ....it has never happened but I would like to be a fly on the wall if anyone I didn't know when it to my shop if I wasn't there......

That's hilarious, I love dogs because of reasons like this. My dog is a beagle, he LOVES barking but I don't love it when he barks. So now he'll see a dog, get excited and look to me. If I say "Ok" he'll bark three times and look back at me. If I say "No" he'll lower his head, grumble and keep walking.

  8. I wouldn't start with rough sandpaper, I would start with 400gt emery cloth with some crisco cooking oil, then got to 600gt then once you have removed the scratches go with scotch brite.....

Based on the first pic, I'd agree but in looking at the second pic...that looks rather deep. Think he'd be there all day with 400 grit, just my opinion.

  9. They are more common then you think. Pretty much every school shop in the country, and pro woodworkers use them. They haven't broken into the contractors market much at all because price and precision it too high. You just don't need that level of precision on the job site. Bosch will do much better in that space but for furniture building and woodworking Sawstop and Powermatic are the two kings. And out of the box I like a more than powermatic, due to the dust collection, sliding table, and the safety.  I have the Sawstop professional it is awesome, I just want the sliding table accessory for it.  (

    )

Sawstop is similar to Festool in that they make really nice but expensive. Some people will pay the extra because they want the creature comforts. Or because they are OCD and love woodworking but hate dust, like me.

That's good to know, I must admit that I don't keep up with school shop and professional woodworking tool useage...but it certainly makes sense that they'd use them. I guess my expectation is that this would be a must-have safety feature by now.

  10. At HD the combo is yellow tagged at 108, pretty poor clearance price for being on sale for 90 a few weeks ago.

Yeah but I expect it to drop under $75 in the next few months, clearance pricing on these started in June. Don't think they'll last for the next price drop but one can dream!

  11. I bought a face shield with my grinder, you may look like a dork with it in but all it takes is one time for something to fly off and take out an eye or something, safety first.

    Face shield and safety glasses!

Am looking for a used grinder and some ratchets, so I've been frequenting pawn shops...the amount of grinders I see with missing guards is astounding.
