  1. Not that I needed it, just couldn't resist the price... Cashier was even kind enough to allow a military discount on top of it.
  2. Makita has added several new items to their site this week, including a router kit in a MakPac with plunge base, along with a sub compact rotary hammer. Wholesale Power Tools is showing the router skin at $179 this week, so it is evidently in the channel. That rotary hammer has my interest; https://www.makitatools.com/products/details/XRH06ZB
  3. @Eric - TIA If you create an account online with Lowes, you can fill out a form to verify your vet status and apply the discount to online orders with them once it is approved, and for in store purchases all it requires is your phone number tied to the account.
  4. Looks like the street price on the kit is going to be $499 (without track). Also, it will have positive stops at twenty two and a half degrees as well as at forty five degrees, and a pre-cut depth stop for scoring the material. This, to me, is a major advantage over the Dewalt as the DCS520 lacks these features. The disappointing item is the lack of a dust bag in either the Makita or the Dewalt. I am not seeing any optional parts numbers for either brand. I may end up buying the Makita so I can compare the cut power of the two.
  5. Makita has just posted the new router on their site. Looks like we might get it here in the states sometime soon. https://www.makitatools.com/products/details/XTR01Z Now if they post the kit version with all the different bases for it...

    Panel Lift

Ever have a tool that you've wondered why you still have it after hauling it around for more than ten years without using it? I really don't remember what project I bought this porta power kit for, but it just paid for itself, again. Took an incredible amount of force to get this joist to vertical and jacking the floor was not an option in this area.

Today's project: Begin joist repairs from water damage due to previous occupants not wanting to replace the wax ring on the toilet. Guess they preferred the smell over spending a couple of dollars on a replacement ring. Spent a large portion of the day getting to this point, moving jacks around and trying different points and configurations to get enough pressure to remove and replace a section of the old top plate and get this one joist into a vertical position. Knocked something off the kitchen counter at one point when a pressure point let loose. Gotta love old houses. This is all just preliminary work before tearing out the bath for complete plumbing update at a later date.

    Panel Lift

Basement has been dry enough to work in this last week after at least four floods this spring, and much cooler than doing anything outside, so I got back to working on the repairs and whatnot down there. Taking the furnace apart today so that I could move it out of the current work area, I found that the original installer had left the installation packet inside of the furnace leaning up against the gas heat plenum. This is just another one of those frustrating issues that makes me wonder how lucky one can be that the house did not burn down due to professional ignorance or laziness. The plastic pack had melted onto the frame of the unit and the papers were a bit brown in color at the point of contact, and I am going to get a headache from shaking my head again... To top it off, the first paragraph of the instructions is a note to the installer on what to do with the instruction packet when they complete the furnace installation, in large letters. The rest of the assembly is going to need some work as well due to incredibly poor workmanship and lack of sealant materials at joints in the system. Not that I am surprised after the previous work on ducting that I removed, but frustrating all the same.
  9. Interesting that it is not actually an SK tool, but produced by Nupla with a couple of cheap stickers with SK written on them. Nice kit btw. Mine showed up in this afternoons mail as well.
  10. You could always try hitting the track order button a few times...
  11. Received notice that the $26 (lol) sk hammer set that was ordered back in January has shipped and will be here tomorrow... Was reviewing my past orders yesterday and clicked on track package three or more times. Not sure if that triggered something in their system, but I am really surprised that they honored that order.
  12. @Big Adam That small sander is almost identical in design to one that was produced by Black & Decker back in the late seventies and early eighties. It was an excellent small unit with great balance. I always wondered why they discontinued the design. Now if they would just turn it into a cordless unit...
  13. CPO is running a 20% off coupon on selected items. One of those items included is the Flexvolt table saw kit with single battery. http://www.cpooutlets.com/dewalt-dcs7485t1-60v-max-cordless-lithium-ion-8-1-4-in--table-saw-kit-with-flexvolt-battery/dewndcs7485t1,default,pd.html With coupon, total price is $359.20 including ground shipping. I am sooo tempted... BLARGH!!! Also included in the deals is the Flexvolt 12" miter saw kit with two batteries with a total price of $439.20 after coupon. (Kit without power adapter) Kit with adapter is $559.20.
  14. Dewalt tracksaw from my July 4 ACME order showed up today. Tool only comes with its own T-stack case, which was a bit beat up due to the fact that Dewalt just slapped a shipping label on the cardboard wrap when they sent it out to ACME. ACME did a great job of packing the case in bubble wrap before sending it on, but the damage done prior to them receiving it leaves me wondering... Tool itself, at first look, shows a better attention to detail (fit & finish) than other Dewalt tools I have purchased in the past. That tied with the them shipping it in a dedicated stackable case gives the impression that they are headed in the correct direction, minus the outright disregard for shipping protection needed from the shipping monkeys. Still waiting for the track to show up, hoping Dewalt cares a little bit more about protecting it than they did the saw.
  15. Which begs the question; why bother when they won't be compatible with upcoming tool releases? There is no way I will purchase one at the price point they are currently at without the bluetooth ability.
  16. Seems a bit odd that the two new units they are just now releasing, XCV07 & XCV06, do not look as though they have bluetooth capability. I read through the manual for these and there is no mention of it at all, either there or on the website page for the vacs. Makes no sense that there would be a new release at this time without that feature and it would be almost useless to purchase one at this time if they do not have it. Marketing fail in the making.
  17. @rrich1 ToolNut is listing the kit at $510. http://www.toolnut.com/makita-xps01ptj-cordless-brushless-36v-lxt-6-1-2-track-saw-kit.html with a ship date Aug 7th. Skin is around $350.
  18. Part of my ACME tool order from July 4th showed up yesterday early afternoon... One Milwaukee cordless water pump. Two hours later we had a gully washer hit us and I got to stress test the pump, as the basement started to flood. I need another 9ah battery. The pump was not able to keep up with the amount of water that was pouring up through the concrete floor and out of the walls, but it did help stem the tide to a small degree, until the battery died, but damn that thing is obnoxiously loud. I had planned on using it for "on demand" water heater annual maintenance, however it will probably make a great backup for the sump pump when I get around to installing that item.
  19. If I did not already have more than one of these I would jump all over that deal.
  20. This sort of chaps me arse... I just bought the Dewalt flexvot tracksaw this last weekend and now Makita releases their version of an X2 saw. Would have been nice to be able to compare the two before the purchase. Anyways; https://www.makitatools.com/products/details/XPS01PTJ They are getting smart and are offering the kit with MakPacs. Hope to see more of that in the future. ToolNut already has a listing for it on their site.
  21. I've been avoiding the forum because I knew that I would end up spending money on tools if I did not... meh. Been waiting a long time for that Dewalt tracksaw to show up and could not resist the sale price... Going to go hide again and try not to buy any more tools for a few months.
  22. You should compare the price on the 59" track and clamps at CPO outlets. ACME seems to be a bit high on those two items, even with a discount...
  23. http://www.tools-plus.com/makita-xrj06z.html Tools Plus look to be unloading the XRJ06z; $164.89 including shipping.
  24. Definitely on my wish list. Just hope it won't take them years to start shipping it here in the states.
