  1. Ohhhh, I see. Yeah that could be a PITA. I doubt I come across any pipe with a thin enough flange to fall in between the teeth on the protos. The only stuff I deal with that's that thin is food grade SS piping that gets gasketed and a removable clamp to hold them together. No pipe wrenches involved. Scratching that pipe would be a great way to get fired.

  2. So I went Metabo Crazy and started ordering tools. I'm getting the 1/2" brushless impact wrench from amazon with a 2 day delivery. I ordered the 18v miter saw and it was supposed to arrive at Lowes yesterday and low and behold it wasn't on their shipment and they don't know where it is. Lastly I ordered their brushless angle grinder form Metabo CPO and I will be lucky if it begins to ship from the factory by the end of this week which would make it delivered sometime next week. Matabo definitely has a distribution problem here. I have never waited so long for tools to arrive once ordered as well as having a difficult time finding the tools i was looking for. I know the quality of them so I don't mind waiting but once again the average person will say forget that and just go buy something off the shelf.

Two things: super jealous. And the problem is that none of those places are the best distributors. If the grinder you are referencing is the 115 quick, the USA division of Metabo won't have the overseas shipment until March 15 at the earliest. Or at least that's what they told me.

  3. can you wet down the area? also run hosing from outlet of shop vac to a bucket or pail of water 1/3 full and let the air bubble with vent above

Interesting, what do you call that, a concrete bong? I've never seen something like that, but it should work fairly well. Good info to know! Where did you learn this, or was it a Comp original?

  4. Hey man meant to ask you about that wrench, how is the bottom jaw fastened to the body of the wrench? Ridgid uses a cap screw through the top of the jaw which leaves a hole in the middle. Its my only gripe because sometimes im wrenching on a fitting and the ridge/shoulder at the edge of the fitting slips right in that hole and then there's no grip. I'll have to post pic of what I mean

I haven't fooled with any of the German stuff. As a rule, I lost interest in Irwin stuff a long time ago. It's not because of any quality issue that I've had personally, I've even had a couple items I liked, but I can usually get American made pliers and plumbing tools from Channellock, Ridgid, etc, for around the same money.

The brazilian made drill bits are good, but there again, I can get a top notch, superior, Norseman Magnum set for the same price.

Yeah, I hear you man. I'll take an American Made Chanellock tool over an Irwin. Chanellock is probably tied with proto as my favorite tool brand. But when it comes to my choices being between a Chinese made Stanley and Irwin, I'll grab an Irwin. I have a lot of Irwin tools and really like the brand. The only tool of theirs that I don't like is their bastardization of the Channel locks. Only Channellock channel locks.

Sears is the best place to get them. They sell the EXACT same Lang made set for around $50 that the trucks are selling for $150. And I mean it's EXACTLY the same set.

This is happening tomorrow morning. This is good to know. Thanks man!

So I picked up a few things today. I grabbed a Swanson rafter square and an impact holster. Then I went down to my favorite place to get my fix. Well in a different thread I found out about some Ridgid wrenches from KnarlyCarl and thought they must be expensive, but then I got schooled by someone.

I saw orange pipe wrenches this style and thought, "wth I'll take one for 40 or so dollars after the mark-up" Well when I went to pay I found out I wasn't holding a Ridgid, I was holding a proto. When they told me it was a $60 wrench I did this stupid thing that I do and just swallowed my vomit and nonchalantly purchased it like that's what I expected. For some reason I can't bring myself to tell them to go to shove it and leave without buying something. It's the reason I have so many tools.

Are you kidding, 25 tons and you break the trailer. He will have so many tootsie roles he won't know what to do with them much less store them. But thats like me and gummy bears, I love my gummy bears so much, if I could jsut fill my whole mouth with them all at once I wood. I would look like a marshmellow as they disolve in my mouth, yes I would. People might think I am throbbing at the mouth with rabies. No, its not rabies, its gummy bear babies hehe. Yum yum nom nom [emoji14]

Yeah I guess you're right. I've rolled across the scales with 25 tons in a trailer, it wasn't toostsie rolls though, and my weight wasn't at the legal limit per say. Probably closer to 5 tons.

  9. Update #1

So this week I had a few updates that I'm going to use as an excuse to share some tool porn with all y'all.

I picked up some stuff online.

Here are the Knipex pliers in their drawer.

    • Knipex Round Jaw Long Nosed Pliers: I really like made in germany and these should really help with hoses.
    • Knipex Pliers Wrench: I bought these more to see how the concept worked more than anything else. Feel solid. I'll have to see how they work out in real use.

The New magnetic trays in their place.

The new magnetic pickup tools and magnetic mirrors in their places. They were only a dollar a piece so I figured I might as well.

I acquired this set of CLC bags from a guy this week as I needed some for work. This is how I have them set up for now.
