I'm curious to hear if other Makita circular saw owners have experienced multiple failures of the trigger switch.

In ten years of ownership, my Makita 5740NB saw has had 4 switch replacements, the latest of which lasted

only 4 days, before failing. All switches failed in the "on" condition. Release of the trigger did not shut off the saw.

I dismantled two of the switches, and found them to be quite delicate and fragile in construction and design.

Are there any company recalls for these switches, or any recourse for customers with out-of-warranty defects?

Do u run it on a generator or anything like that . Depends how much u use it if its everyday gets used then switches will wear out but not that fast where do u buy your switches from ?

The brass is 1/2 thick for about half of it . Also a little late but loved the comparison video jimbo did a great job man 👍👍👍

I'm pretty sure the gear set on the right goes into the piece in the middle with the small planetary gears facing in (so flip it)...but I'm not sure about the rings. The gears on the right look like the speed control gears.

Maybe our friend @CATERPILLAR can help.

Ug your kinda fucked once they come apart they never the same

    Paging Mr @CATERPILLAR

You can pull it apart and check the pot that controls the speed. With the tool unplugged, put a multimeter on resistance mode and test across the outside legs, when you turn the dial the resistance should change.

Lol thanks it could be on some orbital sanders they have a rubber band under the pad that break that could cause that so take off the pad and look at the rubber belt

There is  no reason to take the saw apart to replace the blade on a Grizzly track saw.

    To change the blade:

    1. DISCONNECT SAW FROM POWER!

    2. Engage the plunge release and lower the blade down far enough to expose the arbor bolt. Push the blade lock (see Figure 9) and rotate the arbor bolt with a 5mm hex wrench until the blade locks in place.

    3.  With your free hand, turn the arbor bolt counterclockwise with a 5mm hex wrench to loosen it, as shown in Figure 10.

      1. Once the arbor bolt has been loosened, use your fingers to carefully remove it, along with the arbor washer, then guide the blade down and out of the saw.

      2. When ready to insert a new blade, lower the saw back down so that the arbor flange is visible. Insert a new blade into the saw. Align the center of the blade over the arbor flange and let it rest there.

      3. Make sure grooves of arbor washer are cor- rectly lined up with the flange. Thread the arbor bolt and washer into place with your free hand. The correct order of installation is shown below in Figure 11 for your reference.

      4. 7. Engage the blade lock to keep the arbor flange steady, and tighten the arbor bolt firmly using a 5mm hex wrench.

Blade change is almost the same as Festool

The manual is on Grizzly's website.

Oh well its still a shitty blade change man and now that I think of it was the cord we where replacing because a neibhor borrowed it from the guy AMD nicked it
