  1. I picked up a small bench mill several years ago for about $1000.00. Works really good, just don't use it as often as I thought I would.
  2. Living in an apartment you have to be creative keeping noise levels in mind and space. Thanks Jimbo
  3. Wood working Grand paw's are like other Grand paw's, just much cooler!

  4. Those are nice. CNC machines are awesome but too pricey for me.
  5. You have a keeper there. My wife is the same way she goes nuts in a tool store and gun store. She is always asking me do we have one of those? When I say no she tells me we need one. What more could a guy want?
  6. Nice, You can never have enough of either one.
  7. The top is from a reclaimed IKEA coffee table someone tossed. I cut it down to 36 inches to accommodate the cubby where I park the tool cart.
  8. My second work bench with new compressor.
  9. It turned out ok. I was off for a week but had little time to do personal projects but was able to throw the tool cart together and try out some 308 hand loads I loaded about two months ago.
  10. Just picked up this little jewel a few days ago while at Lowes. I've been looking for a small portable air compressor that would not wake the dead. After much deliberation and research I decided to try the Kobalt Quiet Tech out. It looks like a clone of the California Air Tools brand and I think Husky has one almost identical. I wasn't real sure about it until I heard it running. All I can say is IMPRESSIVE! Extremely quiet when compared to a traditional portable oil less compressor. I purchased the extended warranty because I had a bad experience with a Kobalt compressor a few years ago. I down loaded a noise app to do a side by side comparison and there was about a 10 decibel difference. The Quiet Tech came in at 63 decibels with the traditional compressor coming in at 74. That's a pretty sizable difference when your after quiet. By the way after some testing I discovered a typical hair dryer runs at 70 decibels, shop Vac was 80. The app is not a calibrated instrument but it gives a good idea of how loud your tools are. As you can see it fit perfectly in my newly renovated mobile tool cart.
  11. I'm finally back after Thanksgiving with my second mobile work bench for the apartment. I already had the tool cart I decided to put heavy duty casters on it cut the table top down to 36 inches so it would fit in my little cubby in the walk in closet used self tapping screws to mount the wood panels I had from a previous project bought some hinges handles, hasp, and a bolt lock. Spayed on two coats on clear lacquer and went over it with 1200 grit sand paper.
  12. Voted again. Feeling your pain on being sick. The wife and I were sick about a week ago and I still feel like poop.
  13. So far so good. It's held up pretty well with what few jobs I used it for. Built a 10'x20' out building at my permanent home and it powered my Hitachi nail gun without any issues. Recovery time was fine and seldom noticed, but that's one guy and a nail gun. I actually picked up the Bosch for my reloading room and have used it on several small projects and it has served me well. The only complaint I have is it is kinda loud for indoor use, but that's all compressors. The specs say it put's out about 75 dba, but the super quiet ones are rated around 60 dba or so. Figure I'll make a quiet compartment for it and hopefully get the noise level down below 50 dba. Just can't justify buying another compressor when this one is still like new just to save 10 dba's. Apartment living stinks. If my neighbors bitch about it I'll do something different I guess.
  14. The verdict is in... I'm going to trim the table top down to 38 inches and use it for another work bench top to use my bench drill press, homemade band saw table and portable Rockwell table saw. I'll make the shelf underneath that is of suitable height to store my Bosh pancake air compressor that I will bring back to the apartment next week from my regular home. I'll enclose the bottom shelf with the remainder of my siding cutoffs and insulate the inside with some foam insulation I have left over from a cooler project to reduce the noise level of the air compressor. Two sets of hinges, two door handles and hasp and it should fit right in with my other mobile work bench that my two mini lathes rest on. I'll still have to pick up another box of screws. Thanks for all the great ideas guy's.

    Wowsers..

That would be like getting a fancy new sports car. Your all excited, you take it for a test drive and when your looking out your window at it parked in your drive way, the realization hit's you and you think, now what in the crap am I going to do with that.
  16. One of my favorite parts of a new project is doing the math. Get inspired by a picture or idea, lay it out in your mind and do the math, write it down and get started. Pinterest has some pretty good ideas and some have measurements.
  17. Welcome Claeg. Remember, he who dies with the most tools, WINS!
  18. Taige lathe. Turns wood and metal and takes up much less room than my G0602 grizzley. Has a 3 jaw self centering chuck, six cutting tools, tool post, tail center with drill chuck. Already made the wife three rings, trimmed the head of a 1/4" bolt. I think I'm in love with this lathe or is it my wife. I get confused about those things. Almost have forgot, it also came with a milling adapter and 7 collets.
  19. Huskvana back pack blower are awesome.
  20. Keter folding work bench. My daughter bought me one last year for Christmas and it is the handiest little bench when you have to take the tools to the work. Rockwell Blade runner table saw. it's small, light weight, powerful and can be used for wood or metal Has a dust port for the shop vac and weighs almost nothing when compared to other table saws.
  21. Wow! You guy's have some great ideas. I think those rusty wheels in my head started turning again. KnarlyCarl is defiantly thinking outside the box with the ceiling storage idea. You could even mount a fluorescent light to the bottom of it for extra lighting and BMack37 has me thinking of the work bench where I can sit and maybe even convert it into a dedicated reloading bench. Thanks for all the comments and keep the ideas coming, we probably haven't even scratched the surface yet.
  22. Not good at all. Does anyone know how they retrieved the occupants.
