  1. I am in the market for a set of spade bits. What brand is good for that? I am leaning towards the Bosch Daredevils but I have no experience with them so I don't know for sure. My budget is $30 for a set and preferable something that is widely available.

    Knock Off Batteries

@m.k: what does the mAh mean? Does that mean that each cell is 2850 mAh, that the whole thing is or that each pair of cells is? Also you said that it wouldn't perform well for high powered tools like angle grinders or circular saws? If so, that is a moderate disappointment.
  3. My battery finally arrived. This is a picture of the inside. I didn't see much information on it other than that it is a 18650 battery and 29P whatever that means. I know very little about Li-Ion batteries though so it's hard for me to say.

    Knock Off Batteries

The (allegedly) 6aH battery came in today. I took it apart and this is what the inside looked like. I know next to nothing about Li-Ion batteries so idk for sure of anything other than that there are 10 18650 batteries in it. It also said 29P, I have no idea what that means. I didn't see any brand or what the capacity is. I am busy with the holidays so I do not yet have time to test it. I will post when I do.
  5. It's a good thing you clarified that. I was going to recommend a lady named Candy. lol, sorry; I couldn't help myself.
  6. I am not planning to do anything to extreme so I'll see. I had the earlier rotary hammer and it worked fine. I once used it to drill about 20 1/4" holes 6" deep and it performed flawlessly. Personally I would prefer something a little beefier i.e. the Dewalt or Milwaukee D handle one, but that is not an option for me.
  7. I heard good things about it. I have ordered one already and will comment more when it arrives and I get a chance to test it out.
  8. I cannot afford to get into any platforms other than the one I am currently in which is Ryobi. I have already ordered a circular saw, reciprocating saw, hammer-drill and impact driver; all brushless. Other than that it will depend on what my needs are. I plan to get the 10" cordless miter saw if the need arises and I will be buying the rotary hammer because I foresee needing to drill some holes in masonry. I also plan to get either the cordless 6 gal. shop vac or stick vac. I will probably get both eventually, but considering my short term needs; I will probably get the stick vac first. I hope they release the 3.0, 6.0 and 9.0 batteries soon. if they do, and release some tools to go with them, I may add some stuff to this list.

    Knock Off Batteries

I bought a (allegedly) 6aH pack for about $40.00. When it arrives (sometime this week) I will see how good it is and post the results.
  10. If they did, I would like a link to that because I haven't heard anything other than that it will be coming someday soon. I have done some extensive research and have concluded that the knock off batteries will range widely in quality from as good as the real thing to complete garbage. I bought one and will see how well it works. If it works well, I may get more.
  11. Thanks for the advice, unfortunately I don't know enough about it to dare to do that. I will probably buy one just to see how it works though. Also yes, I meant to say capacity not power, thanks for pointing that out.
  12. I can't say it's the best, but this Ryobi one seems to be pretty well regarded. Unfortunately unless you have some sort of homemade adapter (which does exist) you will have to get all new batteries though.
  13. I noticed some knock off batteries on line recently. Does anyone have any experiences with them? From what I've seen they seem to be hit or miss with more hit than miss and many people have had some that work as good as the real thing. My primary motivation is not to save money, but to get higher capacity batteries, since some of them like this one are as allegedly high as 6 aH and Ryobi only makes up to 4 aH. If anyone has any experiences with similar batteries, I would like to hear them.

    Knock Off Batteries

I have recently discovered some knock off Ryobi batteries on Amazon. Does anyone here have any experience with them? They are $39, allegedly 5 aH and the reviews seem to be pretty good. This is what I am talking about and I have a picture of it below.
  15. I have gotten many of my tools reconditioned and they have all been as good as new.

    Upcoming Tools 17-18

Technically Ryobi does have an angled impact driver. There is the Ridgid Jobmax angled impact driver and all Jobmax tools are compatible with Ryobi's Jobplus.
  17. I'm surprised they bothered with such a minor update. If they announced a new wet/dry vac I would have expected it to be something like the 6 gal. one that Ryobi makes, especially since both brands are owned by the same parent company.

    Upcoming Tools 17-18

Can't wait for those to come out.
  19. Ryobi has announced that they are releasing a stick vacuum soon, this is a link to the page. I was excited about the shop vac and now they are releasing a stick vac as well. Those plus all the new brushless tools means that I will soon be a much poorer man.

Now they have announced another vacuum as well, this is the link to the description.

    Upcoming Tools 17-18

I have waited for a cordless shop vac for a long time. I was hoping for something like Milwaukee's 2 gal. shop vac. This is more than I ever hoped for. I will buy one as soon as I can. Now I am just waiting for them to release a framing nailer.
  22. Not bad, the price is a little out of my budget for now. Maybe one day I will sell my 6 1/2" one in favor of this.
  23. I use Ryobi tools and love them. I have their newest impact wrench and I have used it several times to take lug nut off of my car (a 2013 Toyota Corolla) and it has done it without issue each and every time.
  24. Ryobi has several 18v hybrid tools i.e. the radio and fan so I can't be that hard to do. Theirs is even simpler than the Flexvolt, they just have a male plug built in so you can plug in the female end of an extension cord into the tool and it works just fine.
  25. According to this review I am seriously considering getting this saw when the funds become available. Hopefully by then, it will be available as some sort of package.
