  1. Hi Conductor562, I must admit the Milwaukee and Dewalt are good but these things have been totally pasted on site and I am gob-smacked just how they have lasted.
  2. Any of you folks who are sick to the back teeth of screwdriver bits that snap in no time, get your hands on some of these bits. Hitachi 728699 Nickel Plated Impact Rated Torsion Bit Set, 35-Piece. I have had a set of these for months, and as of today not a single one of them has broken and they have been used in both my impact drivers on heavy work. In the U.S you can buy them for under $20 and they are the best I have ever used. The down side is in the U.K they are as rare as hens teeth and I had to import a set from the U.S but worth every single penny.
  3. I have been looking into it over the last few weeks and it seems from the feedback I have received, that Dewalt seem to have the best customer service over here, also Worx ( Rockwell in the U.S) Bottom of the pile came Milwaukee who's after sales and customer services were described as diabolical and a few curse words which I won't print but you know what they are.( shame because me and my Son are big fans of Milwaukee). Nobody seems to have a problem with the tools Milwaukee makes, over here in the U.K its they're attitude to suppliers and end users that apparently sucks. Bosch seem to be not bad but could do better. makita seem to come second place to Dewalt in the customer services department.
  4. In the U.K the maximum warranty I can find including Milwaukee is 3 years on any power tool.
  5. That is a question I would love to ask them.
  6. I recommend to any Plumber, pipe fitter, or anyone who goes anywhere near a pipe to try a set of footprint pipe grips. I was bought a pair as an apprentice and 33 years later they are still exactly the same as the day I got them. They have been hit, clobbered, bashed, thrown, reversed over and just keep working. They get my vote as the toughest plumbing tool on the face of the earth. If you find a tougher one I would love to hear about it.
  7. The only reason I ask, is dependant upon which one it is, there are many features and attachments available. One flaw with the range, is these do not fit on all the range. Also in the case of the torque multiplier, it is so powerful at 296 Nm of torque, (that's 2619.6 lb feet of torque in U.S) that they had to put lugs on the body of the drill where it clamps on to prevent it twisting in your hands. These lugs are not on older model drills, so anyone who wants to make the L.T.X into a torque monster, should ask the right questions. I have researched this in depth, and I believe this makes the Metabo L.T.X quick with this attachment the most powerful battery drill on the planet to date. Grandchildren are gods way of giving you revenge on your kids. ( You get all the fun bits without the sleepless nights, and best of all you can pass them back when they smell) LOL Best regards Wayne
  8. The questions I would like to ask you guys out there are, How good is the warranty on your power tool? Did you have to register the tool on line to get the full cover? Have you ever had to make a claim on it? How easy or hard was that to do? And how good was the service you got from them? The reason I ask is, over here in the U.K the warranty given on a power tool does not seem to be as long as in the U.S and Canada, even on U.S tools. I must add here that many still carry lifetime warranties. I am interested in finding out if there are other differences, and if so what they are? And also which manufacturer looks after you best when you have spent your money? Look forward to hearing from you folks and finding out. Wayne
  9. I meant to post that last week but even I have to sleep now and again LOL. I want to try lots of stuff but have got to save up for that Fuel drill and the Vito Propac XXXLf Too many cool things out there.
  10. You are brave Tool Boy that question normally gets the lads who own Dewalt on the war path LOL. I don't have One brand as a favourite brand as such, but Metabo and Milwaukee are the main 2 in my armoury. I also have a couple of craftsman, some Makita, and an old Elu drill which is what Dewalt was before Black and Decker bought them out.
  11. Hi Tool Boy, I have a makita palm sander, I ran in a supplier because my old one had been stolen and I needed on in a hurry and the Makita was the only one in stock. So I grabbed it and it has been a very good tool. But on a lot of jobs the paper gets clogged and dust can be a real problem. So i may look at one of these dustless machines for any larger jobs in the future.
  12. Hi Tool Boy, You guys would love it over here lol.Our household supply in the U.K is 240 volts and a 100 amps, yet on building sites its reduced down to 110v using transformers, so we can buy most tools in both voltages. So tools from the U.S will not work over here. Most of Europe is on different voltage to us too, and the plug on the end of the cable in the U.K that goes in the wall socket has 3 prongs, Live, Neutral and Earth, yet many other countries in Europe only have 2. Where it gets real fun is on cordless tools because they all come with 240v chargers over here, but very few come with chargers that will run on 110v for site work, and these you have to buy on they're own. I,don't know if changing the plug on a U.S tool would mean it would run on our 110v site supply, because I think that you guys are on a different amp rating to us too. Our tape measures are fun too, we have old U.K feet and inches down one side, and Millimeters and meters down the other because there are older guys like me who span the time when we changed over from imperial measurement to decimal.
  13. Hi Tool Boy, Mine was an old drill I had for years.
  14. Hi Tool Boy, Over here If you have things you no longer want or need, you can go to one of these car boot sales with your vehicle, set up a table at the back of your car, truck or van, and sell them off. An example someone hires for the day a car park ( these tend to have a roof and in England that's real handy with our weather LOL) they then charge say £15 per vehicle for people to come on there to sell things out of they're car, and £2 to walk on there to buy things. You can imagine the people who run these soon make a lot of money. But they are very popular and you can pick up some bargains.People sell all sorts of crap too lol if you can put it in a box, and it ain't got a heartbeat you will find it at a boot sale hahahahaha.
  15. Try a Mirca Ceros sander they are virtually dust free with the extraction system and clog free. I have been looking at them.
  16. The Maximum warranty we get over here is 3 years and most manufacturers you need to go on line to register or you only get one year.
  17. BTP141Z LXT 18V This tool should be very interesting to see soon.
  18. Many years ago at the height of the cold war, British and American troops were stationed in Western Germany when a new American officer flew in fresh from the states to relieve his fellow officer and allow him a well earned return to the comforts of home. He reported to his British commanding officer who took him to one side and explained " Good morning young man" said the C.O "I'm sure you have given some thought to the fact that we face over a million fully armed Russian Troops half a million tanks and are out numbered tens of thousands to one" " yes" said the young American. The English officer continued " I used to lay awake at night having nightmares about those thousands of Russian tanks rolling over the western fields of Germany right towards us" The young American asked "what happened Sir?" The C.O replied " Just after my wife moved out here to my quarters, I bought her a Lada ( a russian car) And you know something young man I have slept like a baby ever since. LOL Quality beats quantity every time, and that Lada never did take that wife very far without breaking.
  19. To be honest guys we have it exactly the same here. But we have gone even further to the point where British has almost become a swear word, and has been hijacked by racist nutters who want to rule by fear. Look up any company name that you would think is a great old British manufacturer and chances are it is owned abroad. And if it is not,it out sources everything abroad and if we are lucky we may get to assemble the bits before it gets shipped. All this we are told is because it is cheaper and produces goods at the prices the consumer demands. Well I have a word of caution for the feeble minded who buy into that view, your consumers are losing they're jobs by the day, and very shortly when China implodes as its workforce start to demand better pay and conditions, and no longer apologises for bleeding on the company machine because it has no safety guard, and calls his lawyer. Then the corporate Giants will move on to the next nation who work all week for a pittance. Yes we need big business to thrive as strong nations. But we need to be strong at home to be in a position to help others abroad, we need people in jobs here in the U.K and U.S to pay the taxes that should be spent on our old folks and health and education. And also defending our boarders.Buying British and U.S products is getting harder to do but if you want your children to live in a country to be proud of then it just makes damned good sense. I have been as guilty as the next guy in buying foreign goods because they are cheaper in the past, but if we keep doing this very soon there will be nobody in the U.K or U.S making anything at all. From now on I will be spending my money to support jobs in countries that support us, defend us, and stand with us when times get tough. If you love your country, spend your money in a way that saves jobs not just for us but for our children and Grandchildren.
  20. We didn't get G.I Joe over here. Some genius decided in the 60's to change the name to action man, bring out the action figure which sold by the bucket load, and at 49 years old am still waiting for the t.v series to go with it. LOL.
  21. Yip I have some drill bits that go in mine and you'r right its ear defenders time but it bangs those holes through. Old bricklayers never die they just get laid for good.
