She was worried the dog would make a mess of the real tree we usually get. Here's the results, I'm pretty happy All edges are bevelled, ends just sanded. Material is Oak, and the branches are actually plain moudlings (base boards). Has 12mm threaded rod holding it all in place. All material bought at Masters (closing down sales), materials cost ~ $25.
