rrich1
So I raised the drawers up and I'm glad i did. It was easy to do as well. I got the two lower drawer fronts on and am at a conundrum. With the space under the drill press I could potentially put a pull out flat surface to place plans or other items. If I did this I would need to make the top shelf not go up as high. What says you? Good idea or not worth it? I attached a pic with a drawer slide in there for reference. I also go the dust shroud for the miter saw made. All that is left to do is sand the edges and attach it. I would like for it to be removable to use the miter function on the saw. I have to work in a few hours (picked up a shift on my day off) so I'm calling it quits for the night. rrich1
Updated pic. The dust shroud is on. I cut it short so I had to make some spacer blocks. I attached it with magnets to nuts screwed into the miter station. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
Jronman
I like the pull out tray idea. I would vote for doing it. Could also be used as a spot to do a quick sketch if need be? Could maybe have a spring clip at the top to secure the plans and maybe a grove to hold a pencil or pen? Will you ever need the space you loose from the top drawer if you add the tray? rrich1
I ended up making the pull out tray. Took me about 30 minutes or so. Pretty simple. A piece of plywood with two pieces pocket holed to the base. I over cut the top drawer front and after saw kerf and veneer it should end up perfect height wise. Continuous grain pattern for the win. I still need to attach the front of the pull out tray. Up next will be to make the rest of the drawer/door pulls. Then sand and finish! rrich1
Pretty good progress again yesterday. I got all of the drawer fronts attached and about to put the third coat of poly on. I then made the rough stock for the handles for the drawers. I jointed, planed, and then glued up some maple for the handles like I did the sliding doors. I had to wait until for the glue to set so I could cut them out and round over the edges. Before bed I made a holder for my shop vac hose. This is a long time coming and already loving it. Keeping it off the ground is going to be so nice. I also tried to clean up stuff on the floor like boxes and scrap wood. Today I got the handles cut out and rounded over. I'm trying to decide how I want to attach them. Should I make them like the sliding doors with the screws visible from the front or should I attach them through the back? rrich1
Handles are on. They still need to be sanded and poly out on. I ended up not putting the last coat of poly on the drawers. I'll do it when I do the handles. I ended up going through the front of the handles. The pull out work surface was right on the line from the back side. This way they all match and match the sliding doors. I need to start thinking of my storage. I still have the inside of the door completely empty. Not sure if I am going to do shelves or more drawers. I haven't used my hvlp yet and might see if it will fit in there. With the door it should help to keep from it getting dirty. I need drill bit storage help. Right now they are just thrown in there and that just isn't going to g to cut it. Half of my forstner bits don't have a case and none of my Brad point bits do either. My countersink bits package is irritating so that also needs to go. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk

rrich1
Very happy with the last days progress! First I got all of the handles finished and installed. I put finish on the stop block system as well. All I need to do is put the tape on. I'm slacking on that because I want to do it right even though I have a way to adjust the stop block. Tonight I made the router accessories sliding door insert. I think I have room to grow [emoji23]. The extra holes allows me to get more bits but also space them out to make it easier to pull the bits out. They are snig in there. I might round over the holes. Then I will sand and apply poly. I'll glue in the dowels for the collets after it's finished. *Note to self....move up drill press table in the list of shop projects to be built.* The drill press couldn't reach all of the holes so I used my milescraft drill press to finish the job. Worked great. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
JohnyWalter
Hey, Simply question. What the model of drill press you use?I see a BOSH brand, and the work is done perfectly! Thanks in advance

Thanks in advance My actual drill press is a 1948 craftsman 100 that I restored. I used a milescraft accudrill mate to finish off the holes the drill press couldn't reach. overanalyze
Awesome build!! I love the vertical drawers! I might steal that idea.
rrich1
Third door done. I basically did a prototype for the hammers to see if I would like it or not. The top has a 1/2" piece of plywood attached. So far so good. If I do another one I'll be sure to put them at a slight upward angle. Getting things up off workbenches and into cabinets and finding a home is a very good thing. Less clutter. rrich1
I think that will work! No adjustment needed. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
rrich1
So what do I do? I adjust the tape measure [emoji849]. I believe it's good now. I made the holders for the nail guns. Not super happy with them but they will work. I'll round over the edges. Up next is the nail holders themselves. Still need to come up with a design for it though. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk French cleats with plastic boxes? Just run strips horizontally over the remainder of the pull out and insert the little plastic buckets? Looks good bro. rcarnes911
You should show it off. I'm sure it will look great.Just a basic set up I don't have much room so I built a cheapo miter/table saw/work bench area still going to build some shelves for tools above the work bench Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
rrich1
Drill drawer update. My drill bit/12v drill storage is atrocious and I need to get it organized. I made a "simple" holder for the drills/impacts/batteries/and attachments for the flexiclick. Turned out alright. They still fit tight. I originally had them facing downward but it was too tall for the drawer that way. If I was going to do it this way I would have used the next size up in forstner bit. Oh well. I'll hit it with sand paper and a rasp. Next was the forstner bits. Half of my bits we're in a case and the rest were still on the blister packs. Those of course do not store well. Using another piece of scrap plywood I cut it to width and then made a grid. I then laid out the pieces with approximate equal spacing. Much faster than mathing it all out. Last was the bit storage for the self centering bits, countersink bits, and plug cutters. I had a good spot on the right side of the drawer for this. I elevated the holder for easier access and replacement of the bits. I made another grid and drilled an 8mm hole (just bigger than the 1/4" shank) and drilled out my spacing. I drilled more than needed so I can add more pieces and move things around if needed. There was a lot of tear out even with the Brad point bits I was using. Overall I am MUCH happier with how this turned out. I had been scratching my head for the longest time about a solution to the drawer. I got everything back in except for the milescraft drill guide. rrich1
While not directly part of the miter station it is right above it. I added some grizzly tools lumber racks to the garage today. One above the miter station. The second one replaced my previous lumber rack.Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
