cbreiland
I recently purchased a refurbished DeWalt716 12" miter saw from cpooutlets.com. It's been a long time since I have used a miter saw, but I'm getting back into some DIY home projects. When I took the saw out of the box I noticed a metal guide that is in contact with the blade (see attached picture). Is this normal? Is this safe to use? I tried contacting DeWalt support, but they have been difficult to reach. Sorry if this is a stupid question! I just want to make sure it's safe! Any help is appreciated. rcarnes911
I have the flexvolt version, the guard just goes on either side but it should not touch the bladeSent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk
ChrisK
Nope shouldn’t touch the blade. Two resolutions, return it or take the blade of and bent it back in place. I wouldn’t spend money on spare parts as you just got it and a another recon unit can be sent out but I would think you can straighten it out. Big thing is if you do, take the blade out, you don’t want to cause damage to the blade or the shaft.

Jronman
You could also check to see if the blade is true. Maybe the blade got bent in shipping and therefore is rubbing against the metal piece?
cbreiland
Thanks, everyone. I'll check that the blade is true. Then bend the guard back if necessary.
