DR99
https://www.youtube.com/user/wdtvlive42?feature=watchThese videos are just interesting as hell to me. I love watching old stuff from the past for some reason. History has always been an interest of mine too bad it's not a great career for employment. ChrisK
Nice find. I used to read the Janes books for modern fighter craft (circa 1950-1960) when I was a kid growing up in the eighties. I miss that stuff!
DR99
I really like the atomic bomb test footage. It's seems so far removed from reality now. They tested atomic bombs in the atmosphere and shot off a ton of them.
regopit
These films are like crack, once you start it is hard to stop watching.
ChrisK
Back in '03 I was sent to Socorro New Mexico to NM Energetic Materials Research and Testing Center. I was on the SWAT team and they wanted us to get certified as instructors for terrorist bomb response. Incidentally, if you watch Myth Busters, they do a lot of the bomb tests there. Anyways, they used to bomb the crap out of EVERYTHING over there. There is glass all over the grounds from Nuke testing. Absolutely crazy what they used to do back in the forties, fifties, sixties and seventies (and more likely today too).
EEtwidget
The first rule of Military Weapons Testing is, we don't talk about Military Weapons Testing.Check out the 1967 USS Forrestal fire video. http://youtu.be/xvmtsqUsi4oOne of the worst fire at sea and something every sailor watches in boot camp, right before Firefighter training. DR99
Yea the Forrestal fire is a really sad case of bad circumstances the bombs on the planes were old and in horrible condition. They were being used because of shortages with new Mk83 at the time. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1967_USS_Forrestal_fire
