Joepotato Posted March 25, 2024 Report Posted March 25, 2024 I tweaked a bearing on the cutterhead during installation. I ordered replacement bearings and now waiting for them to arrive. in the meantime, anyone know the procedure for dismounting and mounting said bearings? I figure use a puller to get the old bearings off, but to reinstall new bearings, do I do a cold fit and press (tap) them on or freeze the cutterhead and warm up the bearing and slip it on? they are sealed bearings, I’m guessing blowtorch is a bad method to warm them. Induction heater? Heat in oil? Next step is putting the cutterhead in the sled, do I put a bit of grease in the housing that holds the bearing prior to tapping it in?
