Javier
This is the one that pops up a few times a year around $40-60 at HD. Its last appearance was the last holiday season for $40. Because of the lower price there are a few differences between this and the regular $120 16 gallon model Check it out see what you guys think. Samuel L.
Considering a 60 gallon air compressor that does 17cfm@100psi has 5 horsepower motor and a 1500CFM dust collector has about a 2 horsepower motor how the heck is this 5 horsepower something big is being puled out of the marketing teams anus on this thing. Javier
thanks Big Mike and madman not sure about that one Samuel- I've heard others have similar thoughts about the hp ratings on these vacs
madman_us
those shop vacs def dont have 6.5 hp. thats what i found on the internet:To normal people, "peak horsepower" would be the amount of power when the motor is working really, really hard. However, vacuum makers (because they're measuring power usage) choose to use the peak amount of power being used by the motor. And with electric motors, that peak occurs when the motor first turns on. This startup surge or "inrush" is tremendously higher than normal runtime power consumption. By concentrating on this "peak" the manufacturers can claim a much higher horsepower rating than should realistically be stated.

Makes scene I'm pretty sure some air compressor manufactures use this to when you see a 1 gallon hot dog style that's a made in china brand and says 1.5-2 horsepower you know something is up.
