I've come to the realization that at some point I'm going to have every tool I could realistically ever use. I haven't decided where I'll go from there yet.
Well, you could always start on a German, Japanese, or British tool collection. I've been thinking about starting in on buying a little Hazet selection every payday...

I'm not much of an Internet buyer, so I guess I'm lucky there's not a local source that I've found for Proto, JH Williams, Wright....
-
I think they owe me, because of their damn reviews I'm going broke buying tools! (just kidding, guys. Love the content!)

Hey, it's okay, he has a ratchet strap holding it together (not to the truck, mind you, so it all falls out as a mass)...

BK: Those late 70's crew cabs look weird when I see them on the highway. Crew cabs are the norm now, but back then they were unusual. I guess it was probably in the mid 90's before the crew/extended cabs really started outnumbering regular cabs noticeably. The certainly have a strange sense of unique about them.
It's funny how having kids change you viewpoint on things. I was perfectly content with standard or extended cab trucks, until Little Big Kurt came along. Now, between the airbags in the front seat and a long-legged, tall four year old, I couldn't imagine having a standard cab now.

I guess I can play, but just barely, with a 4.5" angle grinder and some drill bits...

'69 Mach 1! Get it set up so it will go fast around corners and stop on a dime.
'77-79 Ford 4x4 Crew Cab, swap in a 12v Cummins, set it up as a hunting/boat towing rig... Big brakes, big tires, big winch and bumper.
Love to get a 911 or a Ferrari, but 6'6" tall, 300+ pound guys just don't fit in them...

If I see one in a store, I may pick one or two up, but I probably will not order one. They do look pretty cool, though.

Yep, I have the same set, plus the 3/8" SAE 'Master' set. I need to pick up the metrics fairly soon, I guess. Though the F150 doesn't break much and the CJ7 is mostly inch.

There's a lot of truth in this. The Internet changed the tool landscape dramatically.
Ain't that the truth. And thank you, algore, for the Internet! I'm 3/4 German ancestry, and a fan of German stuff in general, and now I can obsess over, and buy, all sorts of cool stuff... Metabo, Fein, Hazet, Stahlwille, Gedore, Wera, Wiha, Felo....

Late to the party, but as an Oregon Ducks fan, I find the video-game pace makes most other teams kinda boring to watch. If I want something slow paced, I'll watch baseball. Or golf.

Yeah, you need to convince her you need an 80 gal., 5 HP compressor and a couple of Proto impact wrenches to install the light...

Amazing... People who didn't have to work for anything they have insulting those who do honest, quality work...

My local Snap On guy would begin referring to me as "Mr. BK"!
Probably the same as everybody else, depending on how big the windfall was... If it is big enough, get the heck out of the city/suburbs, build a stick built shop/garage big enough to park a pretty good sized jet sled, my Jeep, and a full size longbed crew cab pickup. Divided area for a woodshop. Plumbed for vacuum on the wood side, and a big compressor plumbed with a lot of outlets on the other. Lots and lots of power plugs, 220/240v outlets for welder/plasma cutter.
More modest windfall, I'd get all the M12 and M18 tools I want:
12v... Fuel 1/4" impact wrench, 1/4" and 3/8" ratchet, Fuel drll driver(non-hammer), Fuel screwdriver
18v... Fuel hammer drill/driver, impact driver, 3/8" and 1/2" impact wrench, 1/2" high torque impact wrench
Euro 4.5 and 5" grinders, Fein, Metabo, or Bosch
Tool box... HF 44" and/or 56", Snap On KRSC46 cart.

They have speed bore max bits that are bi-metal and can handle wood with embedded nails
I have wondered if those are any different/better than the regular Speedbor....

I understand the concern over being only for a specific model of phone, but I imagine the the prices will continue to fall, and I also see that additional companies will figure out how to copy FLIRs... Excuse me, design their own models....
-
I bought some of the bits (#2 Phillips, I think) but haven't used them much... Just drove some additional screws into my parent's fence gate, maybe a dozen total.
-
I'd like to check out a Menards, but I think the nearest one is about 1200 miles away. I'd have to buy a bunch of cheap tools to make that come out even at 15MPG...

Thank you sir!

I think I might need to pick up a miter saw... deWalt or Bosch, probably. I'd like to pick up a few M18 Fuel tools... 3/8 and 1/2 impact wrench, maybe the 1/2" High Torque impact, maybe an impact driver, maybe a hammer drill.
I'm moving to try and complete my 6pt socket sets, at least in 1/4" drive for this year, so I'm kind of looking at Williams or SK shallow and Williams deep. I'd also like to pick up some semi-deep, probably go with SK for those.
And that dang Conductor guy really has me wanting to pick up some Proto ratcheting combo wrenches...
What's your trade...?

Land surveyor, CAD drafter, sometime IT wonk.
The first task mostly requires a pocket tape and a BFH, the second a comfortable chair and mouse, the third, a couple of Phillips drivers and infinite patience...
Actually, I got into surveying because of all the cool toys you get to play with...
