  1. Makita knows RPM is where it's at with smaller screws, torque past a certain point doesn't matter as much if you're not dealing with beastly fasteners. That's why their impacts drive the usual construction screws faster than higher torque models in other colours.

  2. Don't hold your breath. Makita takes impact drivers far more seriously than yellow or red, as you can see Makita is basically competing with itself. Red and yellow slowly leapfrog each other (just barely) and pretend the teal king doesn't exist.

Last time I gave my 780 to a friend, I gave it to him without the blade, he asked where it was and I pointed south and said "Home Depot".

Damn! That's awesome and I'm likely going to use that line at some point.

Personally I can count on one hand the amount of people I'd lend tools to, and odds are I'm coming along with it. Not even sure what I'd lend out. Maybe a hammer. Impact driver. Not much else.

  4. 6.5 doesn't cut deep enough. Seems Makita has magic brushes though. Their cheap old planer outdoes Dewalt and Milwaukee from what I've read. Didn't rob have that suspect test with the Surge though? ?

Edit; off topic; thanks for mentioning that review @JimboS1ice, it's an interesting video. Testing is thoughtfully laid out and they award different wins for a ton of different aspects of the saws which is great. Also happy to see 6.5 blade lefts and 7.25 blade rights are separate classes. Makes me want to buy another blade left ? He dings the Makita hard for being dual battery, dings the FlexVolt for being a new battery, while admitting it's the most powerful saw, and narrowly awards the 2731 the win because of battery compatibility, yet all the testing is done strictly off the 9.0. ? Makes you wonder. I do love that saw though lol. Sucks that the new rear handle Makita will have the same asterisks next to its "wins" (but two batteries!). Drill tool fights are so much more straight forward lol.

  5. Yeah that's been in the works for a while. Still no rafter hook. Looks like a weakened FlexVolt to me. Might as well just get the big boy, only different is battery size.

    Anyone know why Dewalt seems

to give their new releases no fanfare whatsoever? The new XR compact impact came out like a fart in the wind. One day it was just there without warning lol.

  6. His vernacular must be unique to whatever backwoods town he's from...the backwoods town I'm from doesn't even have as many oddball nonsensical "words" thrown around as adjectives, and that's saying something.

Watching half this video so far and I'm amazed that he hasn't called it a complete and utter piece of trash. He even seemed to not hate the Fuel model. Seems a little unusual lol.

  7. If you don't like the fit of Milwaukee batteries stay the hell away from Dewalt. Seriously. Milwaukee has great batteries. 4-bar indicator for battery life, rubber overmold, rugged housing, and a more fail-proof connection system. If you don't like red batteries Makita ones won't likely impress either.

I agree with @KnarlyCarl, red is where it's at for SDS Plus. The 2712 and especially 2715 are very highly regarded. The SDS Max is apparently quite impressive as well (though I hear the yellow one outdoes it).

  8. Some of the speakers on it are passive radiators like the second "speaker" on the bottom of the toughsystem radio. The charger one @KnarlyCarl has seems better value in my eyes, barely a price premium for a charger and radio tuner.

Nice looking unit but from what I've read it won't keep pace with the toughsystem (what will?).

For what it's worth, I can hear my Bosch cube clearly at work from 40+ feet away with earplugs in and over pneumatic pumps popping 100+ strokes per minute, and isn't considered one of the loudest radios out there. This should keep up no problem with any volume concerns.

Chuck Norris doesn't need a saw. He tells the board what size it is.

Jack Bauer doesn't need a saw. He uses torture interrogation on the board until it becomes the right size. In less than 24 hours.

    Actually jack bauer waterboards...the board.
