Wait. @The.Handyman you're bricoleur? This TIA/IG overlap is even more thorough than I thought lol.
@Hugh Jass I think it's a good system. Keep hoses etc in a small Tstak, and grab the box with the tool you plan to use and away you go. The joys of modular boxes.

Might just be me but I can see the purpose of an M18 Surge. It's on my to do list. An M12 surge at a premium price with the power of a brushed M12 impact? Woof.

No idea. Could be as simple as pressing the battery indicator button multiple times or something? Or maybe a "one key charger" or something could be required. Just theorizing lol.
-
All the recent batteries have one key symbols. Over half my M18 batteries have it. I'd be shocked if it isn't just a matter of updating the app.

Exactly. I thought it was an annual thing but it was because they had 3ish years of R&D finally coming to fruition. Plus they were able to take a dump on NPS, which is usually a highlight of the year.
-
Lots of stuff just gets a press release, or shown off at other expos like STAFDA or World of Concrete for example. Milwaukee is usually the one with dedicated shows and even they have plenty of press releases throughout the year.
-
They're larger cells, so more energy dense, more surface area (also more weight). 50% more amp hour but more than 50% more runtime due to improved thermal characteristics. Should be higher peak discharge rate as well, but I haven't really experience voltage drop with the 2.0/6.0 or HD9.0 which have similar cells.

Ordered a pair of FlexVolt 3.0/9.0 batteries. Should be pretty pretty good! ?

Late year is what I've heard for track saw and that the June event this year is a Stanley one.
-
Yep exactly. The devil is in the details.

Shit accessories is a broad brush swipe. They have some good stuff and garbage like everyone else. But yeah. I'll take Diablo over a FlexVolt for a saw or grinder. Those hole saws look decent too if you swap out the selffeed for a standard pilot bit. You can find a deal on them like any other brand though.
-
Nope, not at all from what I've read, hence the 15 mins of R&D haha. Should have spent 30 mins ?

The 15 minutes of R&D it takes to swap the brushed motor for a brushless? Same as their compact recip lol. Maybe it will be more assembled in USA stuff like their brushless compact recip too.

20v Max XR 7.25". There are rumblings of a 10" FlexVolt for North America but that's just rumours, nothing more substantiated like the XR 7.25". I would expect the 7.25" this year. The 10" is just a pipe dream at the moment I think.
-
I'm lead to believe we will see it this year but I can't confirm that. I'm waiting on it though.

Completely and utterly ridiculous. Mind share, market share, revenue, profit, and returns on investment. Those are the things that shareholders care about. Shareholders are the people the boards of public companies care about. The board members of those companies are the people whose marching orders are followed by people in R&D, engineering, and marketing. Marketing wants you to believe R&D hit it out of the park and that using the whole "system" gets more magic out of the saw... if you think Freud doesn't sink equal amounts of money into their R&D you're being willfully ignorant. I'll let my own experience and my wallet be the judge of what works the best in my saws, but I won't delude myself into thinking one affordable pro-grade blade is going to radically outperform another...

Brushless is in the near future apparently.

No B man...not just thin kerf....look at the tooth design, air vents, totally different design not just thinner....also there are vids on the Flexvolt saw with different blades with very different results ..PLUS.. MY real world experience.....using different blades on it.....besides I Love Koolaid.....lol
Videos with different results, what's the bigger variable; tool operator or blade, especially if kerf is similar...

Battery life like Nic Cage? Gone in 60 seconds?
-
At any given price point a blade is a blade man. You're not getting a Freud Industrial for the price of a Diablo with FlexVolt. It's a system because there's big money and repeat business with accessories/consumables. The FlexVolt blade are just thin kerf for less load on a tool and more cuts per charge. Don't drink the kool-aid. By basically all accounts a FlexVolt recip blade isn't better than a Sawzall blade, the mitre blades aren't that different from a Diablo. The hole saws are basically daredevil carbides with thinner teeth. Etc. Etc.

Yep, the new torque wars will be in hydraulic drivers I feel. Impact drivers are pretty much maxed out at this point. Like 1100+ in lb drills, eventually they're all at a level where you can't go wrong. The power tools arms race is in other categories these days lol.

120v hybrid 10" table saw. Hybrid is a
big selling point for longevity.
FlexVolt ToughSystem vac. No explanation necessary.
10" mitres: fills a hole in the lineup.
blade left "rear handle" circular saw; a torquier (drool) version of the new 18vX2 Makita would satisfy both worm drive enthusiasts and those crying for blade left (I'd buy one).
Lawnmower that at least matches Ego.
