I use the boot on my 2763, and when I buy a mid torque and some Fuel ratchets I’ll get the boots for them as well.

Found a deal on a Surge. Had sort of rolled the idea of an impulse driver around for th past day lol...was leaning Makita but found the Milwaukee for about half what the Makita would cost me. Red it is.

Apologies guys, I’ll keep my opinions on that matter to myself from now on.
As to the matter of hand; until I get my hands on one I have no reason to believe the 577 can cut 3x in one pass. Dewalts own specs state that it can’t (though their specs have been wrong before). Like @Jronman I haven’t used it yet but multiple accounts I follow on IG have stated as much. More of a problem for the people with only one saw since the 575 will cut 3x because it supposedly has slightly more depth.

@aabee I think they’re quite committed to 20v Max. I agree that their naming conventions are stupid, but 20v Max is their largest line and gets tons of new tools. It’s not that much different than the path M18 is taking forward where there are basically tools before and after the High Output batteries; the old batteries will still run the new tools but in realistic terms the new more powerful tools are meant to be used with the new more powerful batteries.

Canada, Europe, South Korea, Japan, Australia, etc. exist with or without America. You have the military you do because your politicians are in the pockets of weapons manufacturers and you have the exact military industrial complex Eisenhower warned about.
He didn’t win the majority vote, and your taxes are low to begin with because your healthcare system is a sham. I find it humorous that there are actually some people that voted for him because of “economic anxiety” though.
Americans have a lot to lose. Including your preeminent position on the world stage. USA hegemony is currently being given away to China on a silver platter. Meanwhile the rest of the G7 is strengthening economic ties with each other because the USA can no longer be relied on. CETA, TPP mean the rest of the developed world is moving on without you. Study economics and you’ll realize that tariffs mean every product you get from Canada, Mexico, Japan, China, Europe, etc. is more expensive for Americans. Fair trade. Lmao. No one wins in a trade war, except Russia in this case. Enjoy your extra $10 per paycheck with the tax cuts while the middle class in America continues to be eroded. We’ll see if your extra ten bucks covers your tariffs, let alone the social cost you’re paying daily whether you like it or not.
Dewalt and Milwaukee were already expanding USA production before Donald was elected. All the profits from Milwaukee still go to China, and your Dewalt stuff is still mostly made in China, Czech Republic, etc. Enjoy cozying up to North Korea though. We’ll see how much Donald learns. For your sake, hopefully not too much. In the meantime my RRSP and TFSA are in for the same rough ride that your 401k and Roth IRA are in for, because barriers to free trade mean my US equities are about to get crapped on. Study economics sometime.

I’d be more likely to blame the 101 and trash it than worry about some flaw in the 206 that only the internet’s least favourite Dewalt charger picks up on.

Lol. Short sighted thinking to say the least. Let’s catch up in a few years and see how that isolationism works out.
On another note; the 575 and Makita will cut 3x, but the 577 is a hair shy if I’m not mistaken. A few framers have mentioned that the 2-7/16 cut depth on the 577 is occasionally a pain in the backside.

That battery isn’t a good match for that saw at all. Compact 1.3 amp hour if memory serves? Much better off with the thicker batteries that have 10 cells in them rather than 5.

I hear you @ChrisK, the Fuel chainsaw is very intriguing. The FlexVolt uses a lot of bar oil from what I’ve seen but I’m undecided myself. A chainsaw isn’t a real need for me so I’m in no rush.

I’ve read a lot of comments online about the 577 being more difficult to make a straight rip with than the Makita rear handle because of the weight distribution/bulk. Any thoughts on that? Apparently replacing the stock blade with one thicker than a leaf of paper helps but doesn’t completely solve the issue. Sitting on the fence waiting for a breeze to push me to yellow or teal lol.

In most cases when you convert currencies USA prices are downright theft compared to the rest of us, but the DCS577B is one of those cases where we all get screwed pretty equally lol.

I’m sure it is what it’s officially for. N for nailers, etc. Milwaukee’s nomenclature is ridiculously stupid in North America by comparison. The second digit pretty much represents a generation, and the third and fourth a model, with similar tools within a close sequence of numbers, but the numbers themselves are fairly random, while Australias models are more logical like Dewalts.
01-09 all drills; 2604, 2704, 2804 are gen 1-3 fuel hammer drills, drill drivers through the Hawgs are the first run of numbers. circ saws at 30, 31, 32. Sawzalls at 19, 20, 21, 22. Impacts clog up the 50s and 60s. It’s like computer model numbers. Not completely stupid when you understand it but pretty difficult for a new shopper to clue in to what the good stuff is. I remember shopping Makita 18v for my first tools and said “screw that” when I realized they had a disgusting number of drills and impacts.
Dewalt does something sort of similar but the letters tell you the type of tool, while similar tools have similar numbers; 570, 575, 577 etc.

Walter grinding discs.
Milwaukee Sawzall blades.
Bosch or Makita impact bits.
Bosch jigsaw blades.
Diablo and CMT saw blades.
I’ll use Dewalt saw blades in a pinch if they’re cheap enough but Dewalt accessories don’t have much of a place in my arsenal.

@BiggieThis is the first time I’ve read anyone say a bad word about the 570. Everything else I’ve read puts it slightly ahead of the 2731, which up to the point the rear handle big boys were released was considered the best cordless saw on the market.

Very jealous of that snag @ChrisK, that’s an awesome tool! I’ve been waiting on a killer deal on one myself.
I ordered the M18 Gen2 Fuel blower today. It flies in the face of my “one system per task” mantra but it was by far the best value. If the FlexVolt came with 2x 9.0 or the Makita X2 had promos in Canada to match the US it would be different but the Fuel outperforms the FlexVolt and comes with a rapid charger and a second 9.0 rather than the Dewalt trickle charger lol.
For reference, going rate online and in store here equate to 293 USD for Fuel, rapid charger and 2x 9.0, 268 USD for FlexVolt, slow charger and 1x 9.0, or
307 USD for the X2 Makita, double charger and a pair of 3.0s lol.
I wouldn’t keep the batteries or chargers from any of these kits and the Milwaukee gets me the most resale value for the cheapest bare tool possible.

Hitachi prices in Canada are pretty poor from what I’ve seen so I can’t see this system taking off here without significant promotion by Hitachi. Even the batteries that are a good deal in the states are priced high here like every other brand.

The cut depth is slightly less than competitors at 2.5” The old Fuel 7.25” is the 2731, this is the 2732 (I know that doesn’t help you guys much since you use a much more logical model number scheme down there).

Ive tried plenty of electric trimmers, and there isn’t a single one that delivers a tenth the power of my Stihl 130R, and if you’re a homeowner, always buy the canned gas. Your mix machines run forever with no maintenance if you run premix.
To be fair, none of this sounds 1/10th as convenient as taking batteries off the shelf that are intended for high drain applications, clicking them in place, and getting work done.
My FlexVolt string trimmer has all the power I could need and then some. I’d have preferred a system with attachments like the Makita, or your Stihl, for versatility, but the Dewalt cost me $65 USD over the cost of batteries I was getting for woodworking anyway; amazon one-day deal.

Definitely worth the money. Especially since the high torques are pretty hefty so it’s easy to ding them up by knocking them over, etc. and the heavy stuff gets used on suspension etc. a lot.
