  1. With a little practice, you can get pretty good at sighting the cutline without a laser. Miter and bevel cuts are tougher, but you'll be a better carpenter for the experience. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I gave up on Dewalt when the clutch on my XRP 18v started sticking. Oh yeah, one of the batteries had died and the other one couldn't really hold a charge. It was only 11 years old. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I've got two decks that were built over my garages flat roofs. I can summarize my advice on one word... don't. Well, not quite don't do it at all, but don't walk directly on a flat roof covering. It will sag, the covering will crack and then you're in a world of hurt. I ended up having to rebuild one entire deck/roof with a proper slope, cover it with a waterproof membrane (EPDM) and then lay tile over it. The other one will have to be rebuilt soon as well. You can also install raised decking to protect the membrane. I learned the hard way that the so called tough membranes aren't. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. That's fine for new construction, but without using some sort of wireless tech, it's really difficult and expensive to retrofit this sort of thing into an old house. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I'll have to take your word on that. All I see is a couple of blurry black shapes that could be a battery, but just as easily could be hand grenades or strange powered sex toys. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. What are we looking at here? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I sort of doubt it. The high torque wrench already tests out with like 1100 ft lbs of torque and can easily shear off bolts. How much more would you want? I could maybe see a OneKey version coming out next year to let you dial in a specific set of parameters, but I'm not aware that they've announced anything yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. There's another device that is essentially a set of headphones that a pregnant woman sticks to her belly to play music to the fetus before birth. It's supposed to make the baby smarter by letting it listen to music. The problem is that there's more then anecdotal evidence that babies are being born with hearing loss caused by the damned thing. Tiger moms figure that if some music is good, then more must be better and louder will be best of all. I'm all for giving your child every advantage, but thousands of years of history and countless studies have shown that the way you do that is to SPEND TIME with them! There are no shortcuts do you can fuck around, park your kid in front of the television and end up with a well adjusted, socially developed and intelligent child. How about talking to your baby instead of shoving a speaker up your hooha? *sigh* Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. These games cost as much as movies to make too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Ooh I want one. Then I'm going to want six. That's a whole lot cheaper than six Nest Protects. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Because I'm open to suggestion and Amazon was having a sale. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Are WhiteSide bits worth the premium? Made a few hours away just outside of Charlotte, but of course they're not cheap. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. My Lowes is currently listing all Irwin/Marples router bits on clearance. They seem to be around 25% off, so around $25 per bit. These are made on Israel, not China, but I've never heard anything about them, one way or another. Does anyone have any experience with these? Worth it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. How do you like the Bosch router table? It generally gets good reviews, but I've seen enough annoyed people to give me pause. Any suggested modifications you'd do our is it great just add is? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. The Irwin's have a compound joint for leverage. The Knipex are straight, single hinged cutters. A better comparison would be to the Knipex Twinforce. Now, all I've got to do is scare up $70 to do a head to head ... on second thought, the Irwin/NWS cutters work just fine for me.
  16. If you use the googles, you'll find a lot of discussion about home depot no longer taking Lowes coupons. The thing is that every single one of these posts are from two to ten years ago. While I have no specific info on this new policy right now, I'd say let things cool down a bit and try in a few months. I think people went a bit berserk with stacking the Lowes coupons on top of the holiday sales and ruined it for everyone. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Knives

I like the Dewalt knife. It's a good cheap blade. My main complaint is that it's simultaneously too easy and too hard to open. When closed, the hinge opens very easily with the slightest pressure on the thumb stud. I've had it open a bit in my pocket and is now relegated to a small pocket in my tool bag. At the same time, you can't fully open it with the flipper. Instead, you have to use the thumb stud and open slowly and purposefully. Not a huge problem, but then again, it's not a knife that I'd carry around for quick deployment. The fact that a two year old can open it easily also means that this one stays in the garage, away from the kiddos. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Name this Tool

A spacer of some sort? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Whalers? I thought that sort of clamping mechanism was called a caul. (Honestly asking here, not trying to be a smart ass) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Very possibly a remnant of the HD $150 off deal. There's been a ton of CL sales from resellers trying to sell the combos. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I actually only asked if they'd do the bare tool. I was actually going to angle for a battery too, but the CS person was overly enthusiastic and placed the order and couldn't cancel it. Oh well... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. I spoke with them on the phone. Apparently Milwaukee is discontinuing the CT kit so CPO won't be getting any more beyond what they had in stock. I managed to get them to give me a bare tool RA impact for the 99, which isn't quite as good a deal, but it still is a bit of a discount. I'm just kicking myself for waiting when the deal first showed up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Right now, I'd say Dewalt. In a year... Who knows Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Nice. I can't wait to see what they come out with! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
