Ha, it's not a surprise, too much of a good thing you know?
But on a similar note, being a Milwaukee nut myself, there's a thing or two of their products i greatly dislike as well...

Not a fan of their hand tools, pliers and stuff to that nature, they're coming out with some hammers but I don't know about that lol they've gone full out this year

My first utility knife I owned was the screw type except with retract function lasted less than a couple months before becoming unusable.

ha i probably have a dozen of those that don't slide, used to get them for nothing

I hope there is a big event this year for DeWALT. Replacing it with a Stanley one would be disappointing to all the DeWALT guys. I'm sure it would be a good event just not a DeWALT event haha.

you never know what can be in store though with the recent acquisitions to SBD

I really don't know why table saw manufacturers especially high end cabinet saws don't get their beds plated with industrial hard chrome, like on hydraulic cylinders not bumpers. (not the shiny nickle plating)  you could put a flash electroplate on it in seconds and it would most likely last 25+ years sliding wood across it. We used to flash plate hog heads and they lasted 10 times longer but seen 1000 time more abuse than any table saw would see in it's life time. the hard chrome would not even be noticed as under 4 or 5 thousands of an inch it is transparent and a flash plate would be probably less than half a thou

then how could they make money off you buying a new table saw in 5 years?

That's what's nice about where i'm at in Ohio, far away from oceans... although whenever it rains heavy, there are quite a few bodies of water that stick around for awhile. It's the Great Black Swamp trying to reclaim its territory..

I like Comp's father's idea, i too, have to deal with an unheated garage BUT last summer i popped in an old window shaker A/C and that really helped control the humidity.

It's the temp swings in the winter that help attract moisture on cast iron and leaves a layer of rust oh boy..

    so then i do this:

    ..

Now i've been taking preventative measures to not let this happen again...

temp fluctuations don't help either but at least us in the middle of the country don't have salty ocean air, thats much worse than what we get, devil air for metal

I tried this and it didn't seem to keep up. I should be more diligent in my efforts....I will try the specialist

yea thats for routine maintainance, the specialist is more coated for that, 3 and 1 oil has a rust prevention oil too you can give a shot

EDIT: You got that shitty ocean air though don't you...

  7. thank my father, rest his soul....he could look, smell, taste, you name it at wood and tell you what it was how old it was what kind of years it had even just by growth rings....sometimes he would jokingly say who cut the tree down but I had to call BS on that part.....lol
