  1. metabo's bs 18 ltx quick is almost a 4 year old drill as it came out in early 2013 in europe, maybe even 2012.

Bosch's drill is ancient, I've seen that model around for years maybe early 2011, they only really updated it with 50 or so inch lbs and active stop technology. Hitachi's has been around since maybe 2012 (at least thats when I first heard about it in the states.

I have the metabo hitachi, 996 and the m18 fuel gen 2.

I use the metabo for woodworking and joining because im too anal to get a biscuit joiner so i dowel, the thing is precise and I use it for fine woodworking and cabinetry installs.

The hitachi I've had for years, its been dropped off a roof rolled into a creek bed run over by my wrangler and uh yeah dropped off a roof several times, thing still looks unscathed and still runs new, pretty sure they use heavy fiberglass and really nice rubber. Oh it also has a jacobs chuck, I really, really like the jacobs chuck rather than the german ones the metabo, dewalt, bosch and some other tool companies use, esp more than the junky milwaukee chucks.

I really only use the milwaukee for stuff that I don't need to leave my garage, I don't know how many ive had to warranty, the damn thing is so compact that the electronics absorb the force of a drop. They run so damn hot sometimes that grease leaks, the chucks lock up so tight after drilling holes into solid cinder blocks. They're not built to last at least for what my crew and friends do. Another thing about them is that they run so rough after they break in im sure they're manufactured to fall apart if you drop them. These are NOT Heavy Duty drills imo there are tools that are yours and you baby them and there are tools that are meant for work and tossing around, dropping and overall "Abuse". I mean after a 10-12 hour day in the hot sun or without a/c are you really going to clean off your drill or place it down gently , use an air tool or can to blow out the dirt, drywall dust, esp if they're company tools or not yours. If you think this is hate against milwaukee then so be it, I don't hate milwaukee as a company i just hate their junky fuel drill and impact (Which I own 3 one keys I baby the living hell out of them). They're everything but "Heavy Duty".

The dewalt 996 is a great drill, not sure yet how it stands up to a construction site as I've only owned it since april or may, but it runs smooth, straight and dead center chuck but the damn batteries seem to light up 2 bars instead of 3 might need to call dewalt on this.

Out of all the tools I've ever had its the top end hitachi that's really held up to my abuse, I've never owned bosch but i suspect they'll outlast most new brushless tools.

My wife gave me the green light on the miter saw. Now my question is does anyone knows if home depot will give you cash back if you return something bought with a gift card? I have 50 bucks to the HD and thought it would be nice to be able to use that.

If its a Gift Card, they could give you cash back yes if you ask but some home depots will not.

If it is a merch card then no, and I would advise against returning, they ask to see your DL and if you return stuff without a receipt or return to a merch card then you get a hit on your DL if you do it 3 times you'll need your receipt for any future exchanges (Yes even if its a merch card.)

Which stores are these? I haven't seen most of these(Only have seen the Bosch) and I frequent two Lowe's in Tampa and occasionally go to some in Brandon/Riverview or Oldsmar(Tampa).

Right now most of polk county has what ive posted orlando area as well and zephyr hills most of the tampa stock is gone lol so you might have a drive if you show a picture they might match the price but some stores are stingy

Also forgot to add that the hitachi bl1830 3.0 slide batts are 44.98 as well if you can find them

  5. If you live in the tampa orlando or polk county area there is a massive reset on lighting fixtures you can get some fixtures at a 99 percent discount. Light bulbs from dimming led to flourescent very cheap as well look in thr middle or main aisles. Also contractors and diyers wanting new blinds or to fill their stock of standard sizes most stores are resetting their blind departments so look out for heavily discounted blinds and window treatments

Yeah I know what you mean, I always thought it was simply the sound the brushless drills make. I have all three versions, and figured it was part of the drills mechanics. I stopped thinking about it because they are performing great, so that was the end of that.

Alright so it seems like they're just part of the drill mechanics, thanks, if anything happens the warranty will kick in i hope

  7. Has anyone had, in their experience with their one-key or standard m18 fuel gen 2 drills a grinding problem when the drill slows down? It sounds like something is skipping on the inside with a really rough grinding sound coming from the chuck. It almost sounds like the Ebrake is skipping and is having trouble stopping the drill, usually only happens in 2nd gear.

also you can try talking them down in price if you see a yellow sticker with a little N on the bottom right they can really, really go low on price. but not under 5% of their purchase price. Talk to a blue shirt.

You can still buy some of the Metabo items at Lowe's online with ship to home or store.

Be careful if you buy anything metabo @ lowes like I said earlier there are stock, distribution issues.
I ordered the miter saw and the Lead time (default s&h time) to get to the store or to you is 7-14 days, my store shows its been 21 days for me, RDC (local warehouse) has 0 on hand so it will have to come directly from manufacturer.

meaning the manufacturer has to supply this to the store as your lowe's store cannot go outside of its operating zone which is usually an area spanning a whole state to half of a state to procure merchandise from another location.

If you buy anything metabo online and no other local area lowe's has it ( I mean look outside a 60 mile radius if a store in your lowes' area has it they have to acquire stock from that store to sell to you) have it shipped to the store and I suggest you DEMAND a discount for your long wait if it has been more than 14 days otherwise they have no obligation to give you a discount if its in the allocated amount of time.

  13. The problem with Lowe's and Metabo is the deal was originally with Metabo back in November of 2015.

With the Acquisition of Metabo by Hitachi, Lowe's has an exclusive Deal with Hitachi on their newer DIY oriented tools.

Metabo tools were selling according to stock levels but metabo could not keep up with the demand of the test market which was california and north-eastern states (Virginia indiana maryland parts of NJ and NY) Ultimately leading to the demise of the test markets. I was sad that FL did not get tested as FL has a large population; not to mention the super-high prices of imported products. Ah well, CPO has a bunch of their stuff on clearance for now, but they're having the same problem with the acquisition of metabo by hitachi as well. I've heard rumors that Hitachi is moving ALL Production in shanghai instead of parts manufacturing in shanghai and assembly in Nurtengenen or however you spell it.

If its true, metabo as a brand may lose in quality which is why I'm forking out thousands to get what CPO has.
