I couldn't tell you, but I will repeat that 250-500 is a brutal number of charges because as I previously posted many guys would burn through that number in as little as 1 year and certainly less than 2. The warranty on the batteries is 3 years. That doesn't add up for me.

Here are the spec sheets for the samsung 25r that are in the milwaukee 5.0's

    https://www.powerstream.com/p/INR18650-25R-datasheet.pdf

This is the upgraded version of the INR25r2

The upgraded version is a better performing battery than the old blue version.

But the life cycle of the cells are at most identical.

but these cycles mean that they have to be completely discharged down from 4.2v to ~3.6 and lower.

so if theres a company stating that their batteries can be recharged more than 5000 times is completely bogus as the cells can only handle a number of discharge-recharge cycles.

now if they're saying "They can be recharged 5000+" times well then technically taking the battery off the charger pulling the trigger for 4 seconds then placing it on the charger is recharging the battery then yes they can state that. But know what I know about Li-Ion they do not last 5000+ full cycles esp if they're depleted consistently past 3.6v

LOL you don't have to justify that on this forum. At this point it's like discussing high end sports cars. It gets to the point where you discuss and argue the minutiae and can forget that either way you're using/driving better than the majority of people.  Adjustsble shoe would be tough to go back to after getting used to it though.

Pancing; I'm quite certain I've read that M18 get 5000+ recharges. For many guys 200 is a year or less worth of charges. Unless I'm misunderstanding the point you're trying to get across.

How can they say 5k charges when the cells are rated for 250 to 500 on the spec sheet

Also i cant remember the point i was trying to make

A few instagram tool review guys have done a few flexvolt recip tests and they preferred the M18 fuel Sawzall. It was weird they said the Dewalt felt like it had more power, but the Milwaukee Fuel did more work with the power it had.

If you take a look at it from a battery point of view.

Milwaukee uses Samsung cells which are INR These have a notoriously bad VDroop and have a very low recharge life <200 per cell. (I use them for vaping) Although they have a high pulse amperage output they do have a lower sustained amperage and they do show a voltage droop under heavy load IE the frequency on your drill will have different sound less whiny for lack of the technical term. There are loads of testing done by vaping/flashlight nerds out there that proves that the samsung cells have horrid VDroop.

Now if you look at the Dewalt batteries, they use sanyo which are panny IMR/Hybrid  these have a Lower pulse amperage but have a very high sustained load amperage and are extremely high quality batteries (Japanese cells vs Korean/Chinese) I've been out of the loop for a while with batteries since I only use Sony Which are in the Makita battery packs.

As Far as I know there is no audible or physical Vdroop in my dewalt tools, you can try them yourself, run the batteries down to 1 or 2 bars then grab a fresh one and it should still be at full speed, the motor frequency should not change at full speed.

Grab your Milwaukee, metabo, hitachi and try the same test, the power in these tools Dives after 50% because of the heavy voltage droop.

Or maybe dewalt just changed their motors and made them bigger and relied on them more than gear ratio.

Its funny the way all companies advertise their power in their tools and batteries but none of them but dewalt actually give you any sort of wattage much less so actual amperage draw on load.

    Well except maybe metabo

I like my DeWalt drill bits, paddle bits, and Porter Cable forester bits.  I been extremely happy with them.

The forstner bits? oh man i bought them when they were on clearance for 14$ I've been using them on my cordless drills (even though they're made for presses) and they cut like a dream on high. I dunno why people bitch about them, yeah they're not super sharp and theres slag, but after a few minutes with a rotary tool they're super sharp and slag free. For 14$ i cant complain for a full set, even 39$. Hell a full set of wood owl bits is around 180$ i scored bigtime with these.

Thanks guys, I googled nitro carburizing and it's a process for hardening metal. Should make for a more durable chuck I suppose. I've read plenty of good things about Dewalt chucks so that makes sense.

bosch, metabo, dewalt, hitachi, hilti, they all have the same rohm chuck with a few modifications here and there.

they're good chucks, but i prefer the old jacobs chucks they use on hitachi drills, they're sturdy and they grip really well.

The really, really good chucks are on makita's flagship drill (They were also on the first generation production of Milwaukee's gen 1 the one on the brushless m18 compact is similar but i believe it had tungsten carbide jaws and the chuck ran completely true.)

if you google the DV18DBL that imo is the best chuck jacobs has ever made on a cordless drill.

  6. Well i have batteries for each tool... I don't have a main battery platform as I buy the tool that I'm most comfortable with and if its in another battery system I buy the batteries and charger or a kit.

But as of now the most tools I have in any system is milwaukee.

but i have 4 milwaukee batteries

    5 metabo batteries

    5 dewalt batteries

    2 hitachi batteries

    2 ridgid batteries

    2 bosch batteries

4 makita batteries and ONE makita tool. I didnt realize how long a 4.0 ah battery lasted on the new brushless grinder so before i even used it i bought 3 4.0 batteries ...

its a pita to have so many systems but I always buy my tools cheap or on clearance so in turn its not that expensive.

I only just realised that this drill is a completely different drill to the one I've been considering (which is highly discounted here atm).

I was looking at the BS 18 LTX BL (which is 90nm and has the red button at the top to quickly switch from clutch to drill).

The BS 18 LTX BL I is not even available here yet.

Nice, I'll keep waiting now that I know that's on the horizon.

It seems they are discounting the models that must have a new brushless version coming out soon (which is pretty much everything including the circular saw).

Bad that I just got a recip saw and the 200 wrench, but good that I haven't got anything else yet.

Yeah i pulled the trigger on this via ebay as the seller used his own pictures (I reverse imaged searched each picture) he had the product specs of the SB LTX BL IMPULSE but i asked if I was getting the product pictured and only bought one to see if it was legit.

he had three and they sold out 15hours after he put the listing up. I cannot find this drill anywhere, I've searched UK, aus, germany, grainger, looked at special order booklets, I was thinking about asking the seller how he came about the drill but I fear he'll hike the price up if he knows how hard the damn thing is to get.

Someone suggested starting this thread so I thought why not. I don't have a huge selection of Metabo yet, but what I do have I love. So you guys know the drill here, show em if you got em! I'm hoping my next Metabo purchase will be the heated jacket if I can ever find one.896c784b2c7b131914f758a4796d29b9.jpg5fd710931638be17d6fa02a7212cb7a6.jpg99e3421971a23e4d41840eeffd0d43b1.jpg

Whered you buy that combo kit lowes?

  9. Tbh if the tool does you right and its priced reasonably who cares where its made. The problem i have with chinese manufacturing is that they dont show what city its manufactured in. Its always assumed guang dong and shenzen but there are several other manufacturing districts in china but the 2 mentioned are where you want things made. The only way to tell is the stamp outside of the shipping box that ships to the retailer it shows city province and warehouse. But honestly i would rather pay people in the states to make my stuff.

Which other brand should we bag on for their business practices? Kobalt, stupid Kobalt and their constantly rotating lineup that will never standardize and gives you no confidence in long-term support. Ryobi, stupid name! Who else?

bosch for being slower than a slug! Metabo for selling out to a bigger name for three times their worth!

oh also the main reason why kobalt (chervon) went 24v is because they also got hit with milwaukee's patent for 5 cell 18650 in a power tool battery pack. At least thats the speculation for lowe's brand. I guess we could rag on um hell i dunno what have we left out? On yeah FEIN for losing the spelling bee

Hitachi makes really good tools but man, they are ugly!

They really should carry Metabo in store, I don't know why Hitachi doesn't push both brands.

I dunno, i really don't but they now own the patents to the usage of 20700 cells in battery packs...

There might be another battery lawsuit lol... and hitachi is a very very big conglomerate with a whole lot of weight to throw around.

holy crap i should lay off the coffee.

ALSO DONT TALK ABOUT THE MEAN GREEN!
