Sounds like something is really wrong with that grinder.  Only time I feel vibration is with wire wheels cause those tend to be pretty unbalanced.

Yeah, i really don't want to RMA it to Toolbarn, it took them almost 15 days for this thing to get here.

  2. The dude's funny about how he talks about tools and things, its like an old timer talking about "How things used to be made to last but CHINA! its all clinton's fault!" some of his shit you can take seriously but others you take with a grain or two of sand or sand. I mean, most tools nowadays are junk, most "things" are junk they're not made to last, because you can't make more money off the same person if it never breaks. I came across some of my friends arguing about a festool track saw and a makita one, each mouthing off about how great it his was or how much better it was, the festool owner said something about having to replace his makita every 5 years or so and makita responded with "Well, things break eventually and if it doesn't what do you do? raise prices for your product." Which didn't really make sense at the time but when I read about the festool prices increasing year by year it clicked somewhat.

  3. A few years ago when I ran the tool rental at my old HD We had stacks of rigid batters from the old rigid "bring your battery to HD and replace" But I just bought a cordless palm sander 2 days ago with 2 brand new 4.0 batteries and a charger, one wont charge so i returned them and got 2 new ones with a new charger, same thing but this time both wont hold the charge. What the hell, I've only used it to sand strip some paint off ONE panel of a fence. Does anyone one know who makes the cells inside these things?

  4. if anyone is in the tampa area, lake wales and winterhaven home depot have the Rigid 5" cordless sanders just went into phase 2 (50%) @ 35 dollars each, might be the same prices in tampa and orlando I havent looked.

  5. Hitachi is fairly easy but rudimentary, you dont even need to call, you just write down whats wrong with the tool on a piece of paper with a copy of your receipt put it in a box and send it to GA or CA. I've done it several times with old Dsal drills that have myseriously had the chuck lock up (dropping them) and they just send it back with a new chuck a bout 2 weeks later with a new chuck no questions asked. Their warranty is great but their new tools arent user serviceable so if the brushes in the motor wear you have to send it in to get a new motor which by ereplacement parts website costs about 15$.

Dewalt is super as well, if you have a problem with an accessory they just usually send you another (1st one complimentary no questions asked) but after that you have to take it to a service area zone, factory cant think of the word right now and they take around 10-20 minutes probably just pencil pushing and then saying verbatim "k heres your dcd985 back, just had to replace the batteries thanks, bye."

Just saw this at work after another guy destroyed it on a call Friday haha.

I'll put this here, and stop distracting the other thread from its intended purpose!

Don't put kinks in this snake cable, we're constantly reminded, but it happens:

LOL Nah that's what a ball of roots look like

Man, I'd rather be using that snake rather than replacing it.

I don't know how many times I've scared myself with a blow torch and a hammer thinking that the snake would pop, those things are would up super tight, or how many times I've blown a wheel cutting it off the base because the damn bolts are too rusted and the snake was kinked up in its cage so it was impossible to even get a ratchet in.

I hated it so much when my guys used to check in kinked snakes without charging for the snake. I did it once for them and if they checked it back kinked I'd make them replace the snake I didnt care how they did it and how long it took.

People show those things neglect when I repaired tools at the depot, show them how to use the damn things, tell them if they kink the snake I'm charging $450 on their cards.

Also charged them a cleaning fee if customers didn't at least wash the damn thing off which was never, I never understood why people would return them with roots all over the head or sewage dripping from the damn thing.

Did you try a multiple wheels on it?  Ive noticed at times different cheapie grinding wheels will vibrate more than others.

I use the brushless grinder a fair amount and dont notice excessive vibration.

I use it as a cutoff tool, even without a load it vibrates like crazy.

I can put the cordless metabo down on a table while its on and it doesnt rattle or skip about.

I put the makita down on a table and it will bounce to the other side in a few seconds.

I've tried, norton wheels, cheapie dewalt wheels and metabo cutall and original slicers the makita disc that came with it blew up within seconds of me cutting rebar with it, luckily I was using a shield and it disintigrated no big chunks dug into my skin.

Price on the Fuel grinder here seems to be in line with the brushless Makita.

You can get a 1 batt kit at toolbarn for 125 with code the cheapest ive seen the fuel grinder is just under 100 bare tool. Makita grinder bare is arounf 65 bare

Milwuakees prices are a bit outrageous imo but people shell out just like i do lol

What stuff? Saws, impacts, etc? I have rotated through a dozen Fuel brushless tools and the only one that makes the clacking is my gen 2 2704 hammer drill. Gen one, impacts, saws, M12, etc. None of it has made those garbage noises.

Yeah seems to be just the hammer drill, my gen 1 hammer drill did that till it broke in half.

They have 20 or so where i work sometimes and they all do the same thing mine does.

Everything else they have in circulation doesn't make any sort of rattle squeal or grinding sound except for maybe the grinder which I don't have :< but im not willing to shell out for a grinder bare tool when you can have a tool and 1 or 2 batteries and a charger for less than the price of a m18 fuel bare grinder... just no point.

  12. Sadly, lowes is cracking down on discounts as well, you cannot have your DL, DD papers only your ID active, base id, spouse ID military ID. Too many people have been scamming, Some people get angry with lowe's and home depot but they're only protecting themselves its really the scum out there that they should be angry with. Home depot you have to pretty much demand a discount at lowes its every day.
