I have one of these and they are the dogs doo daas recommend them to all trades

Its a 24v but it has the power of a corded Pal it just too powerful for its own gearbox and just blows it apart even just drilling using 6.6mm sds drill bits for brown plugs.
It goes like hell but very bad gearbox.
Yet the 18v tools are just the Best I have ever used.

I am soon in the market for a 36v cordless drill because a manufacturer decided to make the 24v range out of toffee wrappers rather than the top grade materials they use on the 18v line up.
Metabo 24v blew up AGAIN and now it is out of guarantee so I will be paying for the fix. Hole for buck this has been the most expensive drill I ever bought.
Fantastic when it works,and out performs everything else out there, but it self destructs every few weeks because the internals are just made of crap.

nicad are crap lads.
Lithium ion hold charge for months but nicad batteries if left go flat and die for good after a few weeks under the stairs or in the shed.
I had nicad tools and after an accident and hospital stay came back to work to find every nicad battery was as flat as a witches tit.

Obsolete parts for anything is a pain in the ass. And it happens sooner rather than later these days as they kill off older stuff to make you buy a new one.

I would still like to see more on blades, bits and hole saws because these can make as big a difference as the power tool you put them in.
For example I am a fan of the Bosch multi-construction hole saws, why? because they are easy on your drill but tough and drill wood,brick, cinder block, tile, sheet metal e.t.c so saves so much time and over the year a lot of money.

I would always say buy the very best you can afford and remember where other batteries are nackerd if left under the stairs a few months, lithium ion will hold charge even when unused for months.
