  1. I have recently been doing some repair work on a house where the cellar got flooded.

I uncovered a Dewalt 14v drill that was soaked through and had been for years as this area had been untouched for some time.

I dried it out slowly and was amazed when both batteries took a charge and other than the chuck being solid and will not loosen, the drill works fine. :)

  2. Everyone makes a big thing out of power from a battery drill.

By now any regular readers know I am a fan of Metabo's 4 pole 18v line, and that Metabo do not make a brushless version.

However the 18v LTX has well over 800 lb-ft of torque which is well above any brushless drill.

It is great that Makita are beefing up and strengthening the 18v drill they produce.

My only concern is the Makita battery which has a very very bad reputation over here in the U.K on the job site.

And I have seen a few smoke when under load because of protection issues.

I am not a Makita hater in any way,I just hope this drill has addressed these issues and that we hear good feed back from users.

  3. It depends which batteries and how many there are.

Make sure you get the power extreme batteries 3ah or 4ah.

Also that all the tools are LTX as there are lower spec models and some crafty sellers will only have 1 top spec tool in there.

And the last one is just to point out that the drill in that kit is only a drill driver and does not have the hammer function.

I recomend investing in the LTX impact driver though it is brilliant although its 12v max little brother is more than powerful enough for anything up to 3 inch wood screws with no problem.

These are my personal fave tools and the ones I use and have been just fantastic.
