Mastercraft Maximum Li-ion Tools

Im looking at the current sale flyer for Canadian Tire and the Mastercraft Maximum Li-ion mini tools are %70 off. I know these are not professional grade, that is, not designed for every day jobsite use but that cordless brad nailer could come in handy when a simple trim install is all I need to do.

I have an air system with a brad nailer already so im not looking for a primary tool, just one to use here and there to, perhaps, save carting my compressor, hoses etc etc into a customers house for a simple trim install or fix.

Im not sure how many canadians are on this forum or how much experience there would be with this brand so its a bit of a shot in the dark. But, has anyone used any of these tools? Particularily the nailer? Is it worth the $60 (CDN).

Keep in mind, the Maximum line of tools at Canadain Tire all have lifetime warranties so thats a good thing.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Wow, I am in the states, I wish I could get my hands on one of those. I would get one in a heart beat. How many batteries does it come with? Does it have a charger and case? I believe the US dollar and canadian are roughly the same now, so I believe that would be about the same price here. Also I was looking around and it seems that "Idontknow" is also from Canada. I have never used mastercraft, but they have been around for awhile and with that warrenty how can you go wrong.

Thanks for the reply Drywallman. I feel the same way.

All the Mastercraft Li-Ion tools come with 2 batteries and a hard case (and charger of course). There are a Drill, impact and the nailer availiable as kits, as well as a light which is sold seperatly with no batteries.

This week in the flyer the Drill is $39 the Impact is $69 and the Nailer is $57. The exchange is almost 1-1 now as you said so the $$ would be about the same for you. Im thinking, as you are, that for the money, even if the tools arent the best or most durable the lifetime warranty will easily make up for it. Also, if you keep your reciept, Canadian tire is really good about giving a store credit if your tool fails and you dont want a replacement so even if after a while you dont like it or want it anymore you can take it back, get a store credit and get something else you do want.

I think im going to buy the nailer and the drill and see how they are. The drill would be good for small jobs/projects in closets and whatnot as well as for some hobbies im into. Not to mention I get 2 more batteries with it for $39. Ill let everyone know how they work after.

Drywallman, if your interested enough, perhaps we could work something out where you send me the $$ and I buy you the nailer and ship it to you. I just thought id offer if your serious and cant make it across the border. Perhaps you could return the favour someday when the situation is reversed.

Great to see another Canadian!

Hmmm.. I went to my local Canadian Tire store yesterday I couldn't seem to find that great of a deal. The only good deal I seen a DeWalt 18Vt for $209.00 (Canadian Dollars) and the Mastercrafts 30piece set for like $30-$50 (forogt the exact price). Witch town or city do you live in?

Hey Idontknow312

I just saw this stuff in this weeks flyer. Im an hour from any store (Haliburton, Ontario) but if you cant find these tools in the store, just ask an employee and they can look in the computer to find the nearest store that does have them in stock.

I didnt see any dewalt stuff in the flyer this week. Maybe we get a different flyer depending on where you are. Perhaps a different province?

I am now convinced im buying the nailer. Just finished some shelves in my mothers closet and need to put in some trim. I dont want to cart my air system all the way up the stairs for 6 pieces of 1/4 round trim so im just going to wait till I get the nailer and test it out on friday.

Ill let you know how it goes.
