KnarlyCarl
I don't like doing this on social media, I've heard other do it to get results, but I always have been taken care of on issues with different items I've bought. Hope you guys don't have to deal with this. https://twitter.com/oakingtonplumb1/status/693832637551656961

comp56
I'm sure if you look deep enough into it there are problems with every brand. you can not make everyone happy regardless how good or bad they are treated some times.
khariV
I gave up on Dewalt when the clutch on my XRP 18v started sticking. Oh yeah, one of the batteries had died and the other one couldn't really hold a charge. It was only 11 years old.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
RickyMcGrath
I'm not one for doing it on Social Media but unfortunately, it's sometimes the only way to get results. Businesses have entire departments that focus on handling their web presence. Those representatives often are given higher authority to help customers. I've called customer service with other businesses before and got the run around then post to their Facebook and problem was resolved in 48 hours. RickyMcGrath
I've even had responses on weekend and holidays on social media while the standard customer service was closed.

JimboS1ice
Yikes, but like comp said with mass production sometimes all it takes is one little hiccup and you could have 100 bad units that get through, it's a fact of modern production but how the company handles it is different.JimboSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
DR99
The worst place to get help is from the independent repair centers.

Social media a lot of the times is to just get rises out of people and watch to see what happens.

zinzander
In New Zealand the company that is probably the biggest specialist tool supplier recommends (unofficially) that you don't buy Dewalt tools. It has got to the stage that they refuse to service Dewalt tools that aren't sold by them directly as they have so much difficulty getting spare parts and not getting responses to emails and call regarding parts and warranty replacements. I mentioned that I currently use Dewalt tools and quite like them, and they said that you might like them but as soon as you have something go wrong you will regret it. If they have a problem with a Makita or HItachi tool the will get a response and the part or new tool will be sent that day or the next morning and arrive the next day. If there is a problem with a Dewalt they will get no response for days or until further pestered and then wait weeks for a part, the one time I email Dewalt they never replied. I was also talking to the manager at my local hardware retailer and they said that the one company they have real problems with in terms of warranties is Dewalt. Dewalt also doesn't seem to be investing in contractor grade tools in the same way as other brands. For each big new thing from Dewalt, Milwaukee of Makita will put out 2 or 3 that surpass the Dewalt offering. I feel Dewalt is more and more trying to be a high end DIY brand rather than a professional brand
KnarlyCarl
Interesting, zinzander, welcome to the forum, thanks for your input! I feel fortunate that I've never had a hassle when it came to warranty or repair on items such as you write.

I feel Dewalt is more and more trying to be a high end DIY brand rather than a professional brandall due respect to all the DeWalt user/owners out there but I have always thought of DeWalt as a Black and Decker upgrade for the home owner. Back in the corded tool days DeWalt couldn't hold a candle to Milwaukee or Makita in the industrial shops. Porter cable was even pumping out high end Tools at one time and they have since got to the mainstream DIYer as well. I see DeWalt only gained popularity when cordless tools came around and with poor service they are just setting themselves up to fail or fall to the way side...just my 2 cents........ Stercorarius
I say this as an owner of DeWalts. All the independent locally owned industrial supply places around me flat out refuse to carry DeWalts due to the shitty warranty system and customer service. I asked them why and they said that all the major plants won't touch a DeWalt because of their problems. I'm talking like some major manufacturers like BMW. I've also had bad luck trying to get parts. Makes me regret getting into the yellow line but I'm already too invested in the batteries at this point to change.
