T75R Posted February 29, 2016 Report Posted February 29, 2016 I'm planning on purchasing a reciprocating saw and was wondering what the crew thinks about this one. Please any thoughts, comments and concerns are welcome. Especially reviews! Quote
enigma-2 Posted February 29, 2016 Report Posted February 29, 2016 One place I check first are the reviews on Amazon.com. After reading several reviews, you should have a better understanding of what problems and strengths the saw has. (Spoiler, you will love this saw, my son-in-law was one and it works great!) http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00P9ATLP6/ref=mp_s_a_1_fkmr1_2?qid=1456718392&sr=8-2-fkmr1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=Dewalt+20+volt+reciprocating+straw+saw Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk 1 Quote
JimboS1ice Posted February 29, 2016 Report Posted February 29, 2016 I ended up getting the fuel Sawzall mainly for one reason. I've heard through various reviews that the Dewalt compact transfers lost of vibration to the user. I wanted this saw and thought it was pretty cool until I learned that. Specially after a day's use and continual usage vibration can really bother a user over time. Just a word of caution... Jimbo Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2 Quote
T75R Posted February 29, 2016 Author Report Posted February 29, 2016 Thanks guys. I know I'm definitely not going to be using it in an all day situation. But are the vibrations really that bad Jimbo? Quote
JimboS1ice Posted February 29, 2016 Report Posted February 29, 2016 Ive never used it, but I've seen some videos on it and heard some review of it, there might be a TIA vid of it somewhere. Quote
T75R Posted February 29, 2016 Author Report Posted February 29, 2016 There's definitely a TIA video on it. Watched it recently. Eric and Dan seem to like it aside from the fact that there is no adjustable shoe Quote

Jim86 Posted February 29, 2016 Report Posted February 29, 2016 Milwaukee sawzall is pretty much the industry standard as far as recip saws go. 1 Quote
jeffmcmillan Posted February 29, 2016 Report Posted February 29, 2016 Dewalt reciprocating saws generally have a lot of vibration and I've heard that one is far worse than their others. That's great if you need to vibrate some concrete forms but miserable if you have to do a lot of demo work. Unless you're invested in Dewalt get the M18 fuel sawzall. It's much more powerful. Quote
77Ford01 Posted February 29, 2016 Report Posted February 29, 2016 Dewalt reciprocating saws generally have a lot of vibration and I've heard that one is far worse than their others. . I have read/heard the same.....but no real word experience DeWalt Quote
mohawkdec Posted February 29, 2016 Report Posted February 29, 2016 dont know about the angle saw, im heavily invested in the the 18/20v dewalts, i have the dcs380, compared it to my friends m18 and the dewalt definitly has more vibration. i love the the 4 position blade clamp on the dewalt, i use it all the time to keep changing position of the saw 1 Quote
JimboS1ice Posted February 29, 2016 Report Posted February 29, 2016 Yea the blade clamp set up is pretty sweet Jimbo Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
Hugh Jass Posted February 29, 2016 Report Posted February 29, 2016 Man if you ask me I'd run. I love dewalt and this is the one tool I can't stand, the minute a brushless standard style comes out this thing will get put in the garbage after getting beat to death with a 15lb sledge. This thing will punish the hell out of you. It's borderline barbaric. I've put it head to head against many brands from different era's both corded and cordless and it is inferior in comfort, ergonomics, and cut speed (this is where I feel the punishment comes from, the stroke is slow enough to allow binding meaning the blade stays still and you're doing the reciprocating, especially fun while on a ladder). Unless you need to do cuts between studs, get the standard style. If you buy it anyway, remember not to clinch your teeth together or you might be spitting them out. 3 Quote
iam76 Posted February 29, 2016 Report Posted February 29, 2016 i have both the 12v and 20v recips both pretty cool great for cutting xmas trees down lol! 1 Quote
Logan Posted February 29, 2016 Report Posted February 29, 2016 I don't own that reciprocating saw but I do have a dewalt one and its been great so far Quote
mohawkdec Posted February 29, 2016 Report Posted February 29, 2016 in all honesty, i was buying dewalt just for the sake of buying dewalt, i have since got over this as this doesnt send the right message either.i wont buy another reciprocation saw from dewalt unless they can prove to me its better. i totally agree with hugh jass, but for mine i have a tree stump out back that its going to be put on and its going to make some great target pratice 2 Quote
T75R Posted March 1, 2016 Author Report Posted March 1, 2016 So general consensus from the crew is that DeWalt does not make a good recip. Maybe when their brushless model comes out? But I guess we'll wait and see! Quote
T75R Posted March 1, 2016 Author Report Posted March 1, 2016 I guess my next question would be what recip would everyone recommend? I heard a few say the fuel? Quote
Stercorarius Posted March 1, 2016 Report Posted March 1, 2016 I guess my next question would be what recip would everyone recommend? I heard a few say the fuel? Fuel is going to be the best cordless on the Market. I have heard great things about the Makita 36v brushless though. Quote
JimboS1ice Posted March 1, 2016 Report Posted March 1, 2016 If your looking for a budget by but still decent the ridgid gen5x is a pretty nice recip as well Jimbo Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
