Well most people in Europe ( Maybe exception germany ) think of Metabo as ' Meh ' =p
Metabo, Makita , Dewalt, Bosh. It's all thesame. That sentiment that Metabo is some Hilti Like better quality tool then the other big names is something thats accepted in America perhaps but here in Europe it's just plain old Metabo. Those tools die all thesame and ( can only speak for belgium ) service sucks
Wayne (UK I think) hasn't shared the same view. It's probably hard to speak for an entire continent korno

Only two positions on the handle correct?
correct, because it screws into threads in the metal housing.

Definitely looks powerful
yep, I'm glad it has a good side handle cos it goes hard! when i do a proper review of the drill itself, I'll be talking about it's side handle, cause it's really good....

hmm i suppose there is some similarity to Makita, especially in the grinder. Their drill has a more comfortable handle than the Makita, but I don't think it's quite as powerful (though very powerful). The impact driver pre-dates Makita's awesome driver, and is more featured....

Hmmm, a 4" Makita, a 4.5" DeWalt, a 4.5" Bosch, and a 5" Fein. I'm beginning to think I may have a grinder problem...
Hmmm, one could make that argument. Now a 6" Metabo, no one would call you crazy for wanting that...

that unit does look awesome. I get very jealous sometimes, I wish we had Ridgid, Porter Cable, Delta etc. here in Oz.

you will be very hard pressed to find a better router for table mounting than the Triton models
I have one in my shed and would never go back. I bought their spindle sander too, and like it. But not all their tools are wonderful...

hey guys,
i've recently started creating video content for United Tools, one of the largest retailer is Oz. Much of the content is duplicated with my oztooltalk channel, but some is not. Anyways, I thought some of you would be interested in this, as you may not have seen so much Hitachi yet. The drill has a torque rating of 136NM...
Cheers,

yep. people can judge a brand by the sound of the name if they want to, but it doesn't make them right. It often make a fool out of them.

To me it's the name, nothing says cheap chinese chite like "Metabo". Probably great tools and all but...they need to rebrand ASAP.
That's because you've not been exposed to them. Someone in Europe might say the same thing about Dewalt or Milwaukee. Interestingly, all three brands were founded in the same year. Metabo is high-quality German-manufactured gear, which is more than Dewalt or Milwaukee can claim.
My point being, if you'd been exposed to the Metabo name (and products) as much as you had the American brands, you wouldn't say something like this...

Thanks all! Gharddog03, not sure what the msrp will be in the US, don't really even know what it is in Aus...

I know a lot of you are excited about these tools, so hope you enjoy! I think they're little rippers...

oh really? one handed bit holders aren't allowed there? So the Makita DTD145/148 and Dewalt and Milwaukee impact drivers have to be altered to be two hand changes there?

Good videos as usual, Dwain, at least the only one I've watched so far, the ratchet. I'll get to the others after some garage clean up time. One question, though. In Europe, it seems like most mechanics/techs skip over 3/8" drive tools and use mostly 1/4" and 1/2", where in the US 3/8" is by far the most popular. How is it in OZ?
Thanks BK! Hmm I don't have a good feel for what the pros are doing really. Many of the sets sold here are combination sets, containing 1/4" + 3/8". There are even some 3/8" + 1/2" sets, though not as common. I'd say 3/8" is still a strong line in Oz...

Funny how people have different opinions of tools
For me the IDH182 tries to be 2 things at once and fails at both Imho. It's a slow speed, heavy and bulky impact. And at thesame time it's a gutless impact wrench.
I think that's a little harsh. I agree its a little larger than most impact drivers, and the larger chuck with 2-handed bit change is not as good.
However on the positive, the grip/handle is second to none. And you have the flexibility of the hybrid AND it is very quiet for a regular impact driver.

600 rpm no-load in first gear. Thats pretty sweet at least.
And the compact metal chuck really suits it.
and Bosch's torque in first gear has typically been industry leading too!

Here you go Dwain! I've got a fourth one with the 4.0 on the shelf too. Great video.
perrrrdy.......

A good innovation I think, and possibly the future of battery charging...

I did, and it is. I picked up the 21" self-propelled EGO with the 7.5Ah 56V battery. $600 bucks from Home Depot's website (ouch); but man-oh-man, it absolutely tore through 2/3 of an acre of a weeded field last weekend. I did stop to charge for a few minutes, but I needed that break more than the mower did.
Sorry Dewalt, you were too late to the game.
Nice! i didn't even know there was a self-propelled version! Some tool reviewer I am ...
