  1. Well I got the second shop light in today and wow. Completely amazing how much light I am getting. I ordered parts to build a Moxon Vise and should have everything in next week, just in time for me to go to Florida so maybe the week after I'll be building a custome vise out of some 12/4 Poplar or some laminated Maple. I don't want to buy more wood for this project whereas I could use some great species I have in the shop that have been curing for quite some time. Anyway, I will post some pics of the soon, and tomorrow I'll be assembling the tack trunk. Fun fun fun!
  2. Welcome to the forum Buddy, what part of Gods waiting room are you from?
  3. That looks like one happy kid @tugnut1 keep him going man! He's got cabinet maker written all over his face! Those two kids in gray.....they got Cop written all over their faces! Clearly something is not connected there!!!!!! Kinda like me
  4. I'm sorry for the loss Steven. I'm glad it was peaceful and hope you are all faring as well as can be.
  5. Yeah this is a pretty cool saw and price wise blows Festool out of the water but where Festool is the top end of tools Mafell is like Festools Father
  6. Welcome to the forum Nuvon!
  7. I mean.....does Canada have a "Down Under" I kind of thought that was what Nova Scotia was? How does an Australian / Canadian say "Now that's a knife"? Maybe......"Eh? Now that's a knife! Eh?"
  8. Is it me or does Comp sound Half Canadian and Half Australian?
  9. @MikeInCtown In regards to the video postings, the guys on TiA are a good group of guys and like to post videos in the forum, to the forum. Myself included. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and we all know this. Comp specifically asked for opinions so there you go. I guess hearing a strong opinion from a new member is a bit of a surprise to say the least but opinions are just that....opinions. Also, I am modifying your post. Any mention of that other site is strictly prohibited. I will follow up with a PM.
  10. I think you'd be fine with what your asking for then. The Ryobi is a really basic press but it is a solid design that should last you quite some time. I'm still operating without and was seriously looking at the two option I mentioned but I have revisited my original thoughts and have been looking at the larger Jet and Rikon floor models. No rush right now but depth is something I'm looking for.
  11. I'd say yeah to the Rikon but in the Ryobis case, I've only heard good things about the press. The plunge isn't deep enough to for some jobs but it has a pretty good rep. I would add the Skil has gotten some really good reviews too. If you fill like shelling out some cash though the Rikons are pretty nice machines
  12. That is a really good point. I know the Dewalt is $319 and can be had for around 270ish on sale without a battery and that nailer is supposedly the bees knees so that would make a lot of sense.
  13. I was kind of thinking.....hmmmmmm.....they don't LOOK blue and green
  14. Yeah I have set myself to a mission to purchase one new bit or combo per month. I'm not sure what's next, I liked it when Matt for Matts Basement Woodshop did the router bit of the month but that has been quite a while
  15. I've never used any of those Comp so can't comment but I'm sure if the OP wanted to spend some coin those would be good choices. All I've got for 1/4" bits are my Ryobi set which I used on all of my hardwood cutting boards I built for Christmas this year. All of my 1/2" bits are Whiteside and Bosch. Love them.
  16. I've had the same set of Ryobi 1/4 shank bits for about four or five years and they work fine. I prefer my Whiteside bits and would highly recommend the plywood set but I have the 1/2" set of those. But, if your looking for a decent set of general use 1/4 bits I think the Ryobis are fine. I won't compare them to my Whiteside bits but that is like comparing apples and oranges.
  17. Gee Stephen, i am truly sorry for y I and your family. My prayers are out for you and your family.
  18. I think Madman has one and maybe NER? John! Where the heck are you dude????????
  19. Protoolnut, there has been a community here a lot longer than you've been a member of the forum! The chat room is new. It takes time for people, myself included, to get used to it. But for several years this forum has seen new members come and old members go but TiA has always been a great community. What's nice is that the chat icon was here for several years and it never worked. Conductor and the rest of us agreed to drop it as it was never enabled and it was up to the members to email and keep current with new posts so the addition of new and working chat room is a nice feature that was conceived quite some time ago. But...like I said earlier, some guys are not used to social networking and don't take offense to it! Keep friendly, the members will float in as the get more comfortable with the idea. I remember when the forum was super slow, it could take a long time (count days) to get a response to a topic, no it's normally a few hours at most. That is because this forum IS a community thanks to our members, yourself included!
  20. Thanks a lot guys! I was chuckling because I tend to fly by the seat of my pants on these things and I was lucky again that it fit!
