  1. Welcome to the forum Nunya. You are about to get inundated with suggested tools, companies, battery platforms etc! If you are going to be using the tools with intermittent heavy use, I would consider going with the larger 18v line. 18v tools or 20v as the case may be, will power through most tough jobs and be able to finesse the smaller jobs whereas 12v tools may get bogged down. An 18v circular saw from most of the companies will easily rip most types of plywood and MDF and an 18v recipe can tear through a floor with little problems.....in most case. Corded power tools still have a place! As far as purchasing a kit? In your case, I don't think that's a bad idea. You can easily drop $300 or more but you can walk away with a hammer drill, circular saw, reciprocating saw, impact driver, flashlight....etc from and of the large companies. Normally these kits include two high capacity batteries. That is normally enough to power all your needs. A continuance to my last statement...all of the major companies offer work ready, industry standard tools and batteries. Now you can expect 3.0ah or more batteries with a kit purchase (the standard is almost 4.0 and 5.0!) with cooling technology and rapid chargers. Batteries, like the tools, should not be a problem. Craftsman Nextec? They have a small but useful range of 12v tools available. But if you are considering heavy use on occasion, a 12v line might be great as a second set of tools. As far as not knowing much? Who cares? Your at the right place, lots of opinions and experience here! And we are always glad to help separate a guy from his money!
  2. Yeah, the Ti15 tried too hard to be everything and it kind of just went away. Great impact gun but with the anti impact ring on then the chuck it was a pretty large drill. Anyways, no rumors on an 18v impact from the Jerrys thus far but I'm waiting patiently
  3. Still loving the shop Kato. Really well done set up with limited space
  4. Oh boo hoo. I have sooooo many tools........feel bad for me.......;) just kidding, how's about incorporating in wall storage between joists and making a false suspended ceiling so you can have overhead storage? Might help out quite a bit!
  5. Nah they were just fine and the warranty service was fantastic. Just kind of bummed to have had problems. Really bummed for carl though!
  6. I like it WigWag. It was cool going on tonight. Great idea!
  7. I will say the warranty that Milwaukee has is fantastic but the issues haven't been lost on me. My brother is a plumber here in Nh and he switched from Dewalt to Milwaukee and had never had a problem with his Milwaukee tools. His fuels look like they've been flushed a few times! Me on the other hand, brand new tools right out of the package.
  8. Pah! It's red. It doesn't match green!!!
  9. And I just found about this on chat. Carl, just give me a shout if there's a problem. I will add that's THREE brand new Milwaukees then that have needed warranty replacement. All brand new!!!! What the heck??????

Love my 50' laser from Bosch, I've thought bout the 225 and it looks pretty awesome. Nice find!
  11. Nice! Fantastic sanders. From what it looks like it appears that Festool based (loosely) the new EC Tech sanders on the Mirka line. I switched almost all of my paper over to the Mirka Gold line and the Abranet Mesh lines. Great quality papers and a bit cheaper than the Rubin paper I get for my Festool 5" sander. Nice stuff Trident, love hearing about Mirka!
  12. Here is the link... http://www.lowes.com/pd_757476-78551-COMBO+BS-SSD___?productId=999957903&pl=1&Ntt=metabo
  13. Lowes has the combo kit on line for $199 which is the cheapest I've seen.
  14. I gotcha. Then for me, the 23 gauge. IF you are doing finish work. Not a lot of permanent holding power but it definitely holds thing up while the glue, which is the real fastener, sets. But let me say, this is just my opinion dude.
  15. I've never heard of the 21 Taylor, but I have an 18gauge Brad and a 16gauge finish along with the 23gauge pinner. I really like the pinner because there is NO sign of the nail head. The Brad nailer is great for slightly heavier work. The 16ga finish I have is great for larger objects but useless for finish work. In your case dude, whereas you have the 18gauge Brad I'd go with the 23 gauge pinner if you want to do finish work.
  16. Yeah dude. That's pretty cool!
  17. Wow! I just went back and realized it's free ECONOMY shipping!!!!! Forget it. I'm getting a Ryobi.
  18. $299. But hey, FREE SHIPPING!!!! Who needs a warranty??????
  19. http://www.ebay.com/itm/252301089710?redirect=mobile The OP added the link to the eBay sale in response to a query so I have added it here. Thanks guys and good luck to you @LevelsUp ,
  20. Sorry guys. When you have the best it costs money. But a pittance compared to Mafell. I will say, no. Festool guys don't have a celebration every time they increase their prices. We mostly get ticked off. We mostly spout off. We mostly complain about it! Then we go out and drop 1200 on Domino XL. We drop 480 on a router. Will this price affect me? Not really....I don't need warranty replacements. I don't have tool failures with common occurances. I'm backed by an incredible warrant (in theory....unlike other companies warranties which I have used with great success-Milwaukee and Bosch for instance-I've never had a tool failure with Festool) When I use my TS55REQ, my spindle doesn't brake. My drill chuck doesn't have run out. My routers work flawlessly. Dust? What's that? I've never seen it before on my Festools. Chip out? What's that? I'm all set with my tools. Am I buying the vacuum clamp system or the Conturo? Nope. No new routers needed. I'd like the new PDC but meh....I've got the best 18v drill out there. This business tactic isn't new, Festool prices have gone up once a year for the past four years. So has Ford. So has Ram. So has Chevy. Festool cordless tool prices for the most part have gone down, corded....up. The nice thing though? Nobody forces me to buy Festool just as no one forces anyone to buy Milwaukee, Makita. Dewalt,. Etc.. As far as getting offended Jimbo, no problem here. I don't like it when people criticize me for what I use though. I know you are not doing that dude but I do take a lot of criticism for my tools on this site. Not from the older members, just recently with the last year or so. Mostly from people that don't have any idea what they are talking about and have never used one of my tools. It's really nobody's business and people always have an opinion and like to express it. It's like this. People that make these complaints have never driven a Porsche but boy. When the neighbor gets ones, all the whiners come out and blast the guy who bought a Porshe. When somebody gets an in ground pool, somebody has to criticize. When somebody sees some one else's paycheck, they have to whine about that. I call it the woman's knitting circle. A lot of guys I work with belong to it. Gotta complain about somebody else's good fortune. Normally just ignorant whining. When my neighbor has something good happen I say..good for you! When somebody on the site gets something cool I say....awesome! I spend serious cash that I earn on my tools. I go to work every day. I unfortunately do not have kids. Seriously. I mean unfortunately. I stopped dropping crack and LSD I don't drink to excess, never liquor maybe two beers in the course of a week. I don't smoke. I don't go to strip clubs....SERIOUSLY! Never been to one! This is my hobby. I'm making a purchase with my money that I earned. When I retire in less than two and a half years I'd like to use my tools professionally. Even my Dewalts, Makitas, Bosch' and even that Red Sawzall I have. Some might say my job is pretty dangerous. Like my pension, I earn my paycheck. I do not complain about my check, I'm lucky to have one. If I want a new car and want to spend whatever money on that....guess what? I buy it. I had a neighbor that came over to my house the month after my first love left. He saw a new car in my driveway. He was chiding me on getting a new car a little over a year after I bought my Ram. Wow Chris. State pays you pretty good huh? Nope. Had to trade in the truck. Going to be just me and my best buddy now, got to downsize. Funny though, that really pissed me off. First off, getting judged by some dumbass nosey whiney self righteous neighbor, secondly for having to buy....gasp....cough.....burp....a CAR. Not to mention being depressed. Seriously. The chunk is lucky I didn't kick em in the mommy daddy button. Then send out my best buddy to finish him off. I don't push my brand on anyone. Festool is expensive. I will say that my tool purchases are designed to purchase a tool once. Most tools nowadays are throw away tools. Cheaper materials, low cost labor etc etc etc. whereas my tools are designed for craftsman AND contractors. I could go out and spend $300 on a brand new hammer and have another one in two more years. Many companies in Europe only use Festool, Metabo etc. big money. Big investments but for very reliable very advanced tools. And like those companies....I will whine about the price increase but invariably still get something blue and gray. I mean seriously....what's the alternative?
  21. I've got the low angle Lie Neilsen and it is a beautiful, well made tool. I also have a Veritas Bullnose shoulder plane which is great for mortises but also getting into corners. Sorry I did not realize you had those other guys so it sounds like your all set dude. I would recommend a 23ga pinner too, great for hidden fasteners in end pieces while the glue dries.
