Thanks Conductor. Never heard that before

Chandelier pliers. Had mine for years.

My grand son is 5. He has one of my old Panasonic NiMh drills. It is nicer than his dad's LOL!
-
Do you guys listen to music on jobsites or just In your shops? Some of the general contractors here don't allow music on sites. I never got in the habit of playing it and most trades that do have it so loud you can hardly talk over the music

What is " hitting the details"? Chris

I use the Bosch 12 V compact hex driver Love the feel of it and great torque for the size Got it while my Panasonic was getting a new trigger. Now I use it all the time

I am going to buy a small jointer. Probably Delta or Porter Cable and a Grex pinner and I am thinking about the Festool Carvex

I carry about a dozen tool boxes at any one time. Each focused on particular jobs. For example. One for electrical ( for motorized blinds and shades) which has crimpers and strippers and meters etc. Also Panasonic lithium drill driver, Fein multimaster , trim router, hammer drill, and many hand tools ( hammers, chisels , gauges , etc). I go to customers homes so everything has to be in cases and portable

Lol conductor!

I knew a guy named Shirley!

Thanks conductor. I love tools as well. My grandfather was a blacksmith and my uncle a finish carpenter. I ran hardware / home centers after college for many years so I dealt with tons of contractors and tradesmen. Almost 16 years ago I was asked by one of my customers to join his Window treatment business. Two years later I started my own installation company Now I use tools all day and I love it. The business is good enough I can afford to buy the best so I am always excited to read about the newest tools. Everyone here seems great I look forward to getting to know all of you
-
But this thread is about tools being too expensive. In my opinion I have never bought a tool that was too expensive. Good tools don't cost money they make money. Although a good argument could be made against a 600 dollar titanium hammer when 90 percent of the nails I drive are from a Paslode!
-
The only problem I find with having too many tools. ( I know, no such thing ) is that when you travel to jobs everything has to be in cases and portable so it is hard to have everything readily available. It is frustrating to know you own a tool perfectly suited to the job at hand and knowing you did not bring it along in an attempt to load the truck efficiently so I probably spend hundreds per year in extra gas hauling so many tools around
-
I buy the best version I can of my tools also. But all of my stuff goes " in my truck" because I work in people's homes. Approx 700 homes each year I have tools I hope to pass to my grandson as well and am already teaching him to respect them ( he is only 5). He tells his dad the difference between tools and toys

Conductor I really appreciate all your info. You are very well informed I am curious about where you use all these great tools. In the trades or on your own home and vehicles ?

I managed a hardware store for many years. Really introduced cordless drills to our market. Sold a ton of Makita. All Nicad back then ( almost 20 years ago )
-
I haven't used Nicad in almost 15 years I had NiMh until last year when I went to lithium I do see a lot of Dewalt here also Chase do you work at jobsites or in a shop?
-
We have specialty tool stores here called Berlands they have a 30 foot long Makita display with hundreds of tools in all voltages. And like I said I see them on jobsites all the time. Where are you located ?
-
See them where? Online or on jobs?
-
How is Makita a lost cause? I don't use them but see them on jobsites all the time

Welcome Frankie
