  1. nice work, are you going to have a glass insert for the doors at the top? the wedge shape design is different. I would assume its going into a corner?
  2. the dewalt works well enough. I mean its a little rough but it still cuts pretty accurate
  3. thanks for the advice Daryn!!
  4. so your saying that instead of upgrading your old table saw you would have rather bought the track saw instead? because it only seems logical to buy something different to see what works better. I know that I would stick with what works 90% of the time but some things can be improved. and im seriously leaning toward the festool track saw in the future. I just looked on their website and saw they have some cordless versions which I think would be pretty sweet... not sure what the runtime is on them but im sure in a shop setting there would be very little issue of having no battery charged.
  5. well, I find I try to stay away from bigger projects for the simple reason its awkward to use the table saw I have to cut down the big sheets. ill be honest and say I really don't need either to do projects since I have tools that can do the job but just like anything in life... I want newer or better tools. im in the midst of re-organizing the garage so hopefully I will have a better system for woodworking and I can better assess what I need and what I could live with. its always nice to have a bigger table saw that has a little more power and a truer table top. I like my dewalt one but sometimes I find its a little shaky or awkward to use for some cuts.
  6. I post a lot about new tools and most of the time I post things to get a feel for their worth. I enjoy the feedback good and bad so I can make a great choice and thus far it has worked well. so today the question is... a new table saw or a new track saw? I already have a table saw, its a DeWalt contractor portable one... cant remember the model number off hand but it cuts pretty well for being a second owner.. I want a saw for the "shop" meaning the garage. and space is an issue so it makes sense to go with a track saw right? here are the options I have been looking at... Ridgid 10" cast iron table saw - R4512 DeWalt track saw kit with the 59" and 102" track - DWS520CK Festool TS 55 REQ with 55" track. the ridgid is the cheapest of the 3 but seeing as I already have one that works, just a little small for some cuts. it would make more sense to spend the money on the track saw? Hopefully I can get some input on these, I have NEVER used a track saw but I have heard good things about them so im looking into them more seriously.
  7. I would send them my opinion however I don't think they would do them just based on my opinion.
  8. Id be happy with a dual purpose fuel saw, corded/cordless would be a great step up. And also if they could keep the digital degree readout too. That would be stepping it up for sure Sent from my B15 using Tapatalk
  9. that's a fair point, I don't know if I would use slides... im mostly looking for a tool chest upper, where I can keep my shop tools... so 12v drills hammers sockets chisels things like that where I can have everything in one spot where I don't take up a huge area. I have issues with the "standard" drawer sizes more than the basic layout of the drawers... so custom means I can use my own tools as a way to set the drawers to fit my needs
  10. ive been looking at toolbox storage options and I can only find a few toolboxes I think will suit my needs.... I like having everything accessible so drawers would seem natural. ive looked into the Milwaukee tool chest and love it. but has anyone made their own? I saw some youtube videos and one guy (Diresta) made a toolchest and made it look like a DeWalt tough box. neat idea lets hear some thoughts?
  11. Milwaukee probably didn't do any nailers or the mitre saw because they are waiting for next year to blow everyone out of the water again. maybe the last to the fight but they will be the last standing. and as for the mitre saw, im not sure if I like the style of the one they have in Europe.... I think they would make it more like their corded version they have here now. although a 0 clearance slider is a sweet option to have.
  12. from videos they look comparative to the Ryobi airstrike size. being the same manufacturer it makes sense. I heard the ridgid just has a longer runtime.. I like them. looking to get one when I get some spare cash
  13. the truck cap I have I think will be going back on my truck in the next few weeks, however I will be making some modifications to it... the tool box that is in there is a standard T shelf that splits it into 3 smaller areas one long skinny shelf on the top and 2 areas of the bottom side. (I hope everyone got what im trying to describe) I will attempt to pop the rivets, remove the shelves and build a divider system within it. I may try to build it so I don't screw many more holes into the shell but we will see. ive been looking at new ones but they are expensive and I don't know if its worth the jump seeing as I have one already that I can modify....
  14. Nice idea Daryn! I've seen some ideas like this before but you killed it on this one! The sled is a key feature if you want a cap. It's difficult to reach the back corners if you have tool boxes on the sides. Sent from my B15 using Tapatalk
  15. I think cases should be small and compact. But alot of times they are too small and pretty useless. Love your idea of getting a bigger more open box for all your stuff! Great thinking Sent from my B15 using Tapatalk
  16. I have a truck cap for my Dakota and its great to a point. I found that in my case where I use the bosses truck more than mine for my daily job it was easier just to have my tonneuo cover on. However I would much rather have a cap that would fit my drill case and be able to keep things more organized. I know I could just keep my drills not in a case but I'm a little bit of a case guy. Anyway, I would buy another one but only brand new. And ordered the way I want it. (The one I have now came with the truck) but the way I see it. You have to use the cap for a few weeks to see how you like things set up. And then figure out if you can deal with it or if you can try and chnage the configuration to suit your needs Sent from my B15 using Tapatalk
  17. I found the plans online, they worked well I tweaked it a little bit but other than that it was step by step! Sent from my B15 using Tapatalk
  18. Any of you guys have the "hackzall" from Bosch? Was looking at getting it but not sure if its good or not Sent from my B15 using Tapatalk
  19. Hey guys just picked these up from Lowes today on a sweet deal for $152 after taxes. Got them over the Milwaukee because of the short length Sent from my B15 using Tapatalk
  20. I know clamps are always needed and I have a hand full but I dont use them much because they are always in the garage when I'm on a job site lol I also don't do enough woodworking projects. I'm going to be making a wine rack in the near future as a Christmas gift. Sent from my B15 using Tapatalk
  21. very interesting! I know in highschool here I went to 2 skills competitions and I went with 3 other classmates for 3 days to build a shed from plans we had never seen prior to the competition. we were very new to the construction aspect of trades but we nearly completed the first shed which was a basic one with shingles and electrical on the inside. the second one however was a 3 sloped 4 sided roof that took us down. ad it was a simple mistake I can admit now. I used the common rafter instead of the hip rafter on the square and it never matched properly. good share! its way more complicated than the one I was at though
  22. well I built my design today.. I changed it slightly so it works out better with the wood I had left over. and I did it as per my usually lately, not really measuring it out but guessing it out and it worked out 10x better than I thought it would. I will post some pictures either tomorrow or next week. I still need to put a handle on the box but it fits what I wanted it to with no issues so I couldn't ask for more thanks for the suggestions though
  23. for only $50 more it might be worth the money, I do general contracting and we do jobs anywhere from tiling to cabinetry to drywall and more. so having control (from what I understand) of each power setting (1,2 or 3) I could set each one to do a specific job better than standard settings. I could have the same drill do drywall, cabinet work and regular screw setting. with a specific torque and rpm that works best for the way I use my tool. I think if I was going to get the new fuels I would spend the extra. however I wont be getting the new fuels for a while so ill let them finesse this one and work the bugs out first
  24. NICE! haha where did you find that!?
