  1. I have everything from a little harbor freight garbage to a little snap on. A large majority of my stuff is Proto.
  2. It's pretty embarrassing when you own a f450 but have to borrow your moms suv to get a toolbox.
  3. Spent the money and got the Millwaukee box. I totally agree that Millwaukee boxes wouldn't hold up to heavy use. Honestly I don't think any of the boxes at Home Depot or lowes would hold up to commercial use. That said I just needed something for light home use. I just don't need my woodworking tools enough to justify something expensive. Literally I touch them once a month. I have a snap on box for some tools at home. Its about 15 years old, but works fine. There is also a craftsman bottom box an a Kennedy machinest chest. I really don't do much work in my garage. A majority is done out of my truck, that's were most of my tools are. At work I have a lista triple bank 25 drawer box an a proto 3 drawer service cart. Those are both able to withstand daily use in a industrial environment.
  4. Does anyone have thoughts on millwakees 30" wide 12 drawer tool chest? Considering one for my woodworking tools an stuff I don't use a lot. It doesn't have to be heavy duty, literally touch them once a month. Currently there just sitting in buckets an boxes in a cabinet. I am taking out the cabinet to make room for a hydraulic press.
  5. Sure are nice, just wish better sizes for my needs. Then again anything would be better then my current mismatch of bags an boxes. I had to move up to dual rear wheels cause weight.
  6. I just think dragging a bunch of stuff into the house to rinse off is a pain. In summer I usually just end up using the garden hose. I Love my buddy's power in the ceiling. Not sure the cost but he has really nice air hose reels an electrical reels as well. A garage you could just do a 25' extension cord an have no isssues. In a bigger shop it really helps productivity. In my garage I have a extension cord I just leave out. It can get in the way an get tangled cause just lays on the ground. Overhead reels would be much nicer.
  7. Sounds like you have it under control. Perhaps these are a few to think about. Either way keep us updated. In my dream shop I want a utility sink. Wash out paint brushes and stuff. Expensive to do after garage finished. Only problem there is freezing in winter, My parents have battery back up garage door opener. Not a big deal for those who can do it manually. It's nice for my mom who couldn't do it alone an just wants to get to work. She can still open close door normally. My buddy had electrical ran in his ceiling for cord reels. Literally every were in his 60x100 shop theres easy access to electric an air. He also has electric along walls of his horse barn for wall mount fans. Heard a guy say his builder got minimum drywall required for garage. After 3 years of parking snowy/wet cars drywall started to buckle. He said it was because the drywall put in wasn't meant for moisture exposure. That's something I heard so not 100% sure. I can't be sure on that one, an think there could be something in building code for drywall applications.
  8. Taps get crazy expensive really quick. Unless your looking to spend some serious cash I would get gearwrench. For weekend type stuff it should work. I have a gearwrench 115 piece set. It has served me pretty good. I have had to replace a few pieces but no big deal. There not the best taps but for the money you can't beat them. I have individual Cleveland taps that cost just as much as the gearwrench set. Whatever tap you go with use threadcutting oil. I have heard good things about the Irwin sets but never used owned one myself.
  9. Looks like good work. What made you choose acrylic?
  10. Does any of the crew keep pictures/details of their work? I was thinking of starting something for future reference. Not sure how detailed to go. Part of me wants to keep organized drawings an specs for future reference. The other part sais a quick picture is good enough. What is the crews thoughts?
  11. I am gonna have some sort of sliding drawers on one side an shelves with doors on the other side. Still deciding the configuration. I looked at weatherguards pack rat things. There actually somewhat reasonbly priced. They seem expensive but if you add up the materials an your time there not that expensive. I am just not happy with there sizes for my needs. If I didn't have access to metalworking equipment I would just buy one, an make do.
  12. There grinding wheels an wire brushes are garbage. I thought the first generation shockwave bits were no good. The m18 rover light led flood light was nothing special. The new models are good but the first cordless flood light was garbage. The m12 oscillating tool works, but a little underpowered.
  13. 25 bucks a tank sounds nice. My truck has a 48 gallon diesel tank an my welder has a 20 gallon diesel tank. I have got everything from 8 to 15 mpg.
  14. What does everyone do for a living? I work at a job shop specializing in the oil an gas industry. My main job is welding but I do some fabrication as well. I have done a little manual machining but could really improve on that. Most of the time I am in the shop but occasionally go on field service calls. Right now I am in a truck going to a well site. I also pick up side jobs as often as I can. Just welding repairs mainly. Nothing big but it pays.
  15. I use a Millwaukee 8" circular saw. that thing is unstoppable but this one looks pretty nice.
  16. Really don't have a favorite drill bit. For general purpose twist bits I Currently have a dewalt set an a Millwaukee set. A few partial sets including Bosch an Irwin. Those are pretty much what I was able to buy at big box stores. Spade bits I have a Bosch set. For whole saws I have a Millwaukee set an some misc ridgid an Lenox ones ones. For metal drilling I use Hertel , Chicago Latrobe, c line. I also have some random ones from a closed machine shop. I have annular cutter set from Millwaukee an hougen. A few fandoms of Millwaukee an jancy as well. Of course between all that name brand stuff I have cheap ones that never get used.
  17. Just keeping all my screwdrivers in the same area would be a improvment for me. I cant begin to think what rack order. I wish i was more orginized.
  18. Very good idea. Part of me sais a part on how to check an add oil would be useful the other part sais it could go wrong. Perhaps small engine maintenance would be more reasonable.
  19. Picked up 40 pounds of Lincoln wearshield me, no money left for tools lol
  20. Thanks for the input guys. The truck itself is a 2017 f450. It's my daily driver an sidejob work truck. I had a Silverado with a miller trailblazer but it got totaled. I considered buying a good dedicated service truck an a beat up car for everyday but decided against it. My buddy rough drafted some drawings for a welding skid in the bed an a backseat drawer unit. We have a few final tweaks to make on them. My work is so backed up currently, so no rush. Once there's time on the weekends for me to get in I will start getting parts cut an bent. After those are done I will start on a front bumper.
  21. Nice truck, your gonna love it. I couldn't be any happier with my stock f450. Once I get some time to build a few boxes an bumper ile love it even more. The payments are a pain but it enables me to make money.
  22. Not sure the numbers on cost savings for reselling but if it's a big savings I would go ryobi for DIY. I love my Millwaukee fuels but I can also justify the cost. They enable me to make money. I rely on them day in day out. If there not working neither am I. I don't like ryobi for myself, but think there well worth the money. My first sawzall was a ryobi an it was well worth it. Even my ryobi 18 volt ni cad was good for its Day in the garage.
  23. I myself didnt really do much with tools today. My Lincoln vantage did come in handy today at a Memorial Day event. I was just gonna stop by for a few minutes. Heard they were haveing generator troubles. I didn't really care at first. After I thought about it I offered they could use my welder as a generator for there service. It's truck mounted an I was already there. It was a little loud but did the job for 3 hours.
  24. So ime not really sure what to say. I just figured we could all take a minute this Memorial Day to remember the fallen. Mainly I wanted to share a song that means a lot to my family.
  25. Thanks for letting me know. I had no idea. I just googled it an looks like ile find them to warranty. I know I have them but not sure were.
