Exactly how I feel about the sprint run enduras and delicas that end up being $200 for a knife that's $50-70 with VG-10 on a good day! I admit I'd like some nicer steel and the G10's are really nice but the price increase is too much to swallow.

Boy... this could be a long list... All my favorite EDC knives are some variation of satin, stone washed, mirror, etc. I don't like DLC blades for the most part so black blades are out. I might be tempted by one of the new coatings Microtech is using or one of the Rockstead knives. My EDC knife for about 3 years has been the Spyderco Endura 4. I have several of them and switch them out from time to time. Today's it a grey FRN with full spydie edge serration. My Dressy EDC knife is my Lone Wolf Diablo D/A My favorite fixed blade currently (although I don't own it) is a Bussey Combat INFI Battle Mistress or maybe the Boss Jack My current EDC pistol is my Ruger LCR .38 - Although I have to admit, I'm looking for a change. I bought the LRC about a week after it was available and I've been carrying it for the last 5 years or so. My favorite pistol is my Springfield Armory Mil-Spec Operator w/ full rail. My favorite wheel gun is my Ruger (Old model) Vaquero .45 Long Colt Case Color frame. I'm sure I can add to this list... and probably will soon lol.

Haha - Actually - I'm not sure. We were driving to a location for our wedding pictures and saw these guys going down the street playing with the hydraulics. My brother in law said - you want me to catch them? We said yeah. He jumped out of the limo and ran down the street in his suit and asked if they'd take some pictures with us. There was an old loading dock right down the street so they pulled in and we took some wedding photos. That was over 5 years ago and it's still my favorite picture! (plus I had a 86 cutlass supreme at one point so that may be part of why I like it lol.)

Thanks everyone! I got pretty sick of dealing with the local store reps and managers so maybe before I dump this in Milwaukee's lap I'll try corporate.

So my in-laws surprised me with one of the Milwaukee tool chests. They bought it on black Friday. They live in GA, and I'm 3 states away. My local HD took it upon themselves to put together ALL the Milwaukee tool chests they received. All of them are scratched and dented. One of my drawers is even bent and another one looks like someone stood on sandpaper on the inside and tried to walk. Because they assembled them all, I couldn't see what the shipping boxes looked like so I don't know if it was like that from shipping or they did it during assembly. Has anyone had any luck dealing with Milwaukee about these boxes? I'd really like the one drawer replaced and some touch up paint or something. Actually my first choice would be for a new item to look new (and still be in the box unless I ask them to assemble it) but I am not willing to take a bunch of my time dealing with people at HD who don't seem to care.

I've read that if you re-pack the bearings with some good grease they work just fine for long hauls... then again I read that on the interwebs so who knows. Yeah I'll be using it for about 14 days so it's about $100 over the cost of the harbor freight trailer or maybe $50 once you put on the deck and re-pack the bearings. Just trying to save a little.

I need an inexpensive trailer for a few hauls of around 900 miles each. It isn't cheap enough to rent one form uhaul or the like because I'll need it for several days. But after this I won't really have a regular use for it. I was thinking about maybe putting together one of the heavy duty harbor freight trailers. Does anyone have any experience with these? I figure I can weld it together if i decide to keep but since I have access to trailers for local use I probably will just get rid of it. From what I've heard you can pick one of these up for about $250 if you get a coupon and then a little bit more for a deck. That's a heck of a lot cheaper than a rental or $1000 trailer. What say you?

It was fun to make Mike... I'm really happy I got a flat side drum. Made everything look nicer I think and measuring was easier too. Plus a 55 gallon drum holds a good amount of food!

Really? My Troy-Build died after one use!... Actually it didn't make it through the one use. Returned it, got a Husqvarna, and swore off Troy-Built. Glad yours is working!

Salvaged HD magnets are also great when you want some magnets to play with when you should be doing something productive... ask me how I know? lol

I thought for sure your pictures would end here with a caption at the bottom saying "Modern Art" lol. Nice project. I'm working on something similar for a Christmas gift. I'll post when it's complete.

A "custom" smoker/grill doesn't have to be that expensive. I just built a Big Papa Smokers kit for my friend. Cost me about $250 including the, primer and paint. That was using the best kit they had but the have one kit for about $150. And ugly drum smokers (UDS) are used in competitions so I'd say it's worth checking into.Finished product below. (He's a St. Louis Cardinals fan if you didn't recognize the symbol.)

Uh oh... I hate to break it to you... those are going to be drawers. I wanted to make sure the frames were good and beefy so frames are all 2x4's and 3/4" purebond plywood. When it's all said and done - there should be about 13 drawers. Although one isn't technically a drawer. It's just a flip down door under the foot board to store the fold away dog stairs my wife requires... I'm staining it with coffee/tea mix and steel wool in vinegar. Should make it look good and aged. Then it's getting some distressed paint - per the wife's orders. I started making this for our anniversary and she had no idea. We went to a furnished home show and she was pointing out all the storage beds she wanted. I knew i was on the right track. At first she said she wanted raw wood with just a clear coat but then she started seeing ones at the show with some nice old wood and the popular chippy paint finish and said that's what she wanted. I was pretty set to finish it in secret... then one night I was tired and spilled the beans inadvertently. So she's been "directing" the project ever since. Now I just say "Yes Dear" and go about my business.

Finally got back to working on this after some back problems... and wouldn't you know it, I caught someone sleeping on the job! I also finished all the drawer frames and attached the 2x4 cleat (not in the picture) for the cross supports. I have a few more things to finish and I'm ready for stain and paint!

Same way at mine... Friends that worked at HD and Lowes tell me that employees sometimes do this so they can get a deal from the department manager when the item hasn't sold in a couple months. A friend of mine got a A Bosch Gliding Miter saw for $250 after it was discontinued at his Lowes. He got approval to mark it down $50 and then waited a couple months and offered $250 for it. Knowing what I paid for mine... kinda makes me sick. lol

Ok StrippedScrew. Pictures when you get them... granted that might be a bit of a wait lol but still I'd love to seem them when you get them. I've been looking for a nice old slick that I can restore for a while but haven't come across any worth the effort. Maybe that's the right choice to order new.

Party Pants

Those of you who are plumbers... You're a better man than I to deal with this stuff every day. My wife got a call from my friend’s wife saying he was sick and had been sleeping all day but she had discovered water in the basement. She wanted to know if we had a shop vac to clean it up. Long story short I went over there and cleaned it up and found the sump pump had died. I don't know how long the water had been in the basement but it stunk to high heaven. I still can't get that smell out of my nose. It's all cleaned up now and I'm putting in the new pump tonight. If I'm this put off by a little ground water, how much more would I be if this was a sewage problem - I perish the thought. Plumbers... my hat is off to you. Also, how suspicious should I be that my friend isn't really sick and just didn't want to deal with the mess? lol

Well crud - that stinks that you're having trouble with your gun. I have been using porter cable nails and had no issues with resets.

I'm liking that "festobi" nail/miter combo unit in that first picture on page 14! And the workspace is lookin' good.

I don't know if you guys have seen these videos by John Neeman Tools but I have watched them over and over. I love watching the craftsmanship and skill that goes into these handmade hand tools. If I'm not mistaken the wait for an Axe order is over a year currently. Have any of you used any John Neeman tools? Anyone else know of any tool making videos?
