I typically spill large amounts of sawdust and chips on the floor, I have my RIDGID vac under my bench and enough hose to reach the whole shop. What doesn’t gets vacuumed? EGO baby!

Yup, vacuum the big pieces and blow the rest out. I blow the tools out with compressed air, the compressor turns on when I flip the switch for my bench work light.

I have the Milwaukee and like it a lot. The quick open and close are something I'm not willing to give up.

I like that too. The Kobalt one I linked is the same style but textured. I have the Milwaukee with a straight blade and the Kobalt with the hook blade, texture gives a little extra grip and easily distinguished.

  3. I'd avoid the German brands. Hazet has one that is $50 and made in China! WTF?!

Knipex has the insulated one. It's like $30, uses proprietary blades that are one-sided and like $15 each. I think Gedore has one too, not sure of the cost.

I like the Olfa stuff, made in Japan. There are some decent Kobalt ones too, I have one that looks a LOT like the Milwaukee but with a different texture. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-11-Blade-Utility-Knife/50289429

Do you have a woodcraft near by? Or even a rockler. The rikon I got is on sale for a stupid good price for you what you get. Been a great machine so far. Think it's the 10-324.

I have one across the bay. I've been thinking about their benchtop planer. Wow $650 for that bandsaw is like half price!

That would be a fun restore. There had been a few pop up within driving distance of me but I never called. If I had the room to put one for the sake of it I would. Resaw capacity was what I really need/wanted.

I wish I had the space for it too! It's massive! I could really use a bandsaw...right now I'm rigging up an old jigsaw, upside down, clamped in the jawhorse as a make-shift bandsaw. I've used it to cut 16" long pieces of metal(cutting lengthwise), that was definitely not OSHA approved. The pieces were too thin to clamp down and use the jigsaw properly.

I knew that but for whatever reason I typed it wrong...I just read it! haha. I blame it on being late.

Okay, I knew I wasn't crazy - the improved brushed screwdriver is the 2406. I'm confused, it's late - I guess that's the one you have? That's a huge improvement in speed and torque, but I see what you mean about losing the torque setting to put it into drill mode - horrifying. I guess the original was like that too.

I have the Fuel hammer drill, no screw gun. Jimbo has the Fuel screw gun.

That's the one I had. Came in a kit with the radio for cheap.

The Fuel one is probably my favorite M12 tool, and is definitely the one I use the most. I use it for devices when trimming out - set the clutch on 5, high range, with a #1 square bit. Has enough grunt to drive most of my fasteners, and even to push a reasonable-size Daredevil in a pinch. The 500 limit of the brushed is just way too slow for my pace when trimming out.

Yeah, I'm impatient so I need two speed. Machine screws take less than a second on speed 2, take 3-4 seconds on speed 1.

I really like the mode collar on the m12 Fuel, I hate that they got rid of it. It's nice to be able to remove screws in drill mode then driver with the clutch with one click of the collar.

Not sure but I'm going to go with Pratt-Reed as a safe guess.

That was correct before the current manufacturer started making them...though the one I'm looking for may no longer be producing tools for them, I presume they pulled out after Sears started sourcing most of their pliers from China.

For some reason, I thought they had upgraded the brushed screwdriver to 2-speed ranges and higher rpm, closer to the specs of the Fuel model, when they changed to the newer body style a while back, with the added overmolding. Looking at it online now, I see it's still 500 rpm. My bad, sorry!

Ohh, I got you. I thought they did too actually, I was looking for one in my search, I could have sworn there was one...then they have the old style with the silver on the chuck.

The gen-2 one does sound like a huge improvement. The cabinet guy that I gave my gen-1 to loves it, but then he's not much of a tool guy, in the least.

A gen-2 screw gun? I thought they only announced the drill and impact driver? If so, I'm excited! I've been looking hard at the screw gun because I mostly use a quick-release in my m12 gen-1 Fuel drill for work.

Though the screw gun is likely to follow since it's just a different front end from the drill.

  12. I have the Meguiar's kit, it was about $20. I think it's roughly the same as the Mother's kit but I like how Barry Meguiar supports the car community so I try to buy their stuff to support them. It works extremely well but even with the protectant, expect to do it again in a year.

Magnet on the side clip is pretty poor, it will hold, but slides down on surfaces quite easily.

The one on the top is quite strong, even holding it horizontally off a surface is no problem, it's definitely the strong one!

I think the clip itself should have protruded from the body of the light so that it can clip to metal lips or whatever without getting tipped back if that makes sense, it only works good to clip to your pocket

Thanks Brad. Sadly with that issue there is no real need for me to upgrade over the Craftsman lights. I spend $3 with $3 back in points for all of those so I can add my own magnets and modify it without guilt because they were soo cheap. Damn, I was hoping it would be good and strong, half the time I'm holding the Craftsman light because there's no good spot to stick it.

I think they did that for the magnets, they probably should have put the clip on the side...it's pretty rare that you'd use the clip and the light at the same time.

Wait, I think I have an idea. L-shaped bracket, magnets on the long side of the L and stick the light to the short side. Then it can be attached and rotated!
