Yeah that’s the one problem I have with my diagonal cutters.

I just tested the cutters out, they're EXACTLY like the NWS diagonal cutters. Definitely better than the standard Knipex diagonal cutters.

Same taper to the cutting edge so it has a lot of meat behind the cutting edge but to cut thicker nails/screws it takes a lot more effort as you go. I just cut through a 10D gal nail with one hand with them.

How do you like them? I have the 7” diagonal cutters with the power slot and like them a lot. I ordered these from Lowes for in store pickup and when I got there they couldn’t find them and canceled my order. So I got stuck with the non power slot version because I needed them that day.

I haven't used them but I'm sure they're good. They don't open very wide but they seem to open wider than anything you'd want to use them on.

  3. I personally think this is a steal. I recently bought a wire rack with bins and then this came available, I bought two(separate orders) and another of a smaller size. These racks come with casters (two locking, two not locking) and feet. Adjustable shelves in 1" increments. 220lbs per shelf. $60 shipped! Literally the casters alone would cost you $20 or more! Shipping is Fedex and has to be expensive too! I already received one of these and it's indeed a fantastic shelving unit. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Commercial-82-x48-x18-6-Tier-Layer-Shelf-Adjustable-Wire-Metal-Shelving-Rack-76/311864355012?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=610708145145&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

After talking with @justinkendall I’m going to actually just give the guy the M12 tools. He’s a commercial electrician who was just starting out, he’s my cousin’s cousin from the other side of her family, and since she’s my tool rep she’s going to get me a deal on a 18 or 20v drill. He’s also getting my insulated Witte screwdrivers since Shop Your Way points paid for them and I’ve used only the Phillips one once.

    Dude, that's awesome of you!

How much did you get the dog for? Was it used or new?

  6. Drill is about $30

    Impact is about $40

    Hackzall is $35-45

    Batteries $20 each

BUT you can also buy the Drill, Impact two 1.5 batteries, bag, charger and get a free tool or 6.0 battery for $100 a couple times a year from HD. So you add in one extra battery to that cost.

Depends on how good of a friend, I don't think $150 is unreasonable. Each of the above options takes work, you can't just go to HD on a random Tuesday and get those prices. You can see the top one pretty regular on eBay but you never know condition or how new the batteries are, even in a blister pack. A bit set definitely makes the deal more appealing...I have all those tools, two of the drills, not to mention the M12 Fuel and three M18 drills and I STILL wouldn't sell the m12 drill for $30. in fact, I wouldn't sell any of those tools for the going rate on eBay.

Hands down, Home Depot beats Lowe's when it comes to power tool brands, but I'd argue that Kobalt mechanics hand tools are a bit more prominent than their Husky counterparts.  While both pale in comparison with Sears, the average Home Depot has one piece of wall space devoted to wrenches, sockets, and ratchets, while many Lowe's these days have a dead-end aisle that is fully devoted, to include individual sockets and wrenches (which HD does not offer many of, if I'm not mistaken).  This is why I'm curious about Craftsman's place in Lowe's.  Either Kobalt or Craftsman will take a hit in store, likely due to price and perceived quality.  If SBD brings production back stateside, perhaps we'll see Kobalt become a weird brand in between Craftsman and whatever super cheap brand Lowe's offer now (Project Source, Task Force, Blue Hawk, etc).

Like many others, I want to see SBD revitalize the Craftsman brand and return it to a fragment of its former glory as a widely available and dependable brand with an almost unmatched warranty.

In my HD it has easily the same amout of space dedicated to individual sockets. It doesn't seem like it because it's spread out over a larger area and has a huge top stock, while Lowe's racks are about 3-feet shorter than the HD bay.

  8. I'm surprised Lowe's okayed it. I imagine this means a quick end to Stanley ratchets/sockets at Lowe's.

There doesn't seem to be much shelf space available, I'm thinking that it may start with an endcap or cardboard runway display. Dewalt has an endcap near hand tools for their batteries at the Lowe's in this region. Perfect place for Craftsman signage...before you get to Kobalt.

  9. It's pretty much an antiquated design and you can't really buy parts for those chests other than locks(because they're pretty universal). You'd think there would be tutorials of how to fix it, surely people have lost them by being cut for theft...or just lost bars. It's cheaper than buying even the cheapest replacement box, so why wouldn't someone want to fix it?

You will probably want to upgrade that box at some point, something bigger and thicker steel so you can load more but definitely the right thing to do until you get a steady service job...it's sad to see all the big boxes being sold because a job didn't pan out, you know those guys are losing tons of money on those.
