  1. They really need to heatsink those MOSFETs or at least blow air over them. If it's intermittent you might be able to restore it by cleaning the board and resoldering the components, just dab some solder on everything...or heating it in an oven, you can search reflowing a PCB online.

The problem is they're getting caked with dust and dirt and holding in excess heat and shortening the life of the components on the board. I'd bet you can buy replacement parts from aliexpress(China) or mouser(US but more expensive, especially the shipping).

BMack! Those look great man.  You should sell a few. I’m sure people would buy them

Thanks! Sorry I missed this earlier! I've had a few people try to commission me, it's hard to price out because it's basically a cutting board with hardware...not sure how many people want to pay $50+ for a clipboard! Though I think $50 would be reasonable compared to the $30 clipboards I see on etsy, I'm kind of a perfectionist. I think the rivets compared to a phillips screws are a huge deal to the aesthetics, as far as I can tell I'm the only one that is doing that.

  3. Glad to hear that you're doing better. That's crazy, scary stuff! I always get a second or even a third opinion...as kids we are basically taught that doctors are some of the smartest people in our population, as an adult I've learned that they're not. A lot of doctors, though very well educated, aren't nearly as bright as we'd like to think but the thing that makes it dangerous is that a lot of those doctors are extremely cocky. I've had to demand MRIs and explain to doctors why an X-ray is useless(for that specific problem)....then I do it and have it come back negative and them act like they're giving me good news. My first demanded MRI found two ruptured discs in my back that two doctors said I was imagining. Second one discovered several tears in my knee that weren't visible in the X-ray *Facepalm*

Ok, that turned into a rant but always get a second opinion. Pain and discomfort is your body telling you that something is wrong, don't let anyone try to tell you that you're imagining it or imply that you're being a baby. I'm happy you found someone to help you Chris, don't do that again! We need you around here!

Stopped at Lowes for some plywood and ended up buying other things.

Made in the USA Southwire Compact Wire Stripper (S1020SOL-US) and Ergo Wire Stripper (S1018SOL-US). They’re so new to my local store that they didn’t have a place for them to hang and instead just left them in boxes with the price tag on a shelf in the adjacent bay. Did I need them? No. Did I buy them? Yes. Do I care where they are made? No.

Southwire 8” Cable Ties, 11” Cable Ties, and V-Notch Wire Stripper (SVN). I was looking for the releasable cable ties but they still don’t have them. They do now stock the 11 and 14’s which is nice. For months all they have had is the 8’s.

4x Irwin 2” Spring Clamps (3 not shown), a 4 pack of 6” Irwin Quick-Grip clamps, and a bottle of Titebomd II for the plywood.

From what I gather, there is no current plan on them carrying the new ties. I was pretty bummed out to hear that.

  5. The good thing about bags is you can put the tool's bits or accessories in it too. With a hard case you basically end up with a hard case and a bag or another case of bits...don't know why they don't mold in a spot to carry their own bit cases inside the blow molded case, it gives you a reason to buy their bits instead of a competitors.

  6. I've seen a lot of higher Ah ratings that aren't substantiated after tear downs. Lower quality cells die sooner, have less power output and questionable electronics to prevent damage to the cells in the battery.

I though Ryobi finally gave a release date for their higher capacity batteries?

I've noticed that some stores keep tool boxes in the tool rental area as well, if they don't offer that service.  I think the lumber aisles are one of the worst places to keep tool boxes.  I've seen more than a few dented by unwary customers with lumber carts.

...Then they end up at pallet stores. That's how I got my first Husky top chest, a small 26"

Don’t think I’ve seen so many toolboxes on display at once.

A lot are from Black Friday, I've seen them all over the place here. Normally in the middle of the aisles in lumber, most stores don't have that large of an area free for the extra boxes and carts.

Not sure if my dad's does this but it tends to drain really quickly. Sometimes light use will drain it fast. Also he plugs it in then it goes from low battery to quite a bit charged in very little time. Its very inconsistent with the battery. A new phone will also allow me to download newer apps. I can't even get any tool apps. My app selection is VERY limited. There was even a time I had to download an insurance app to my mom's phone cause mine was too old.

Yeah, the Milwaukee app is available for the generation after mine and newer. It sucks because I know I'm going to end up with an iPhone X and I think it's soo overpriced...but I hate a lot of little things on Android and iOS is just soo clean.

I still got an iPhone 4 haha. I heard the 5 had battery issues and I'd say its true. My dads 5 has battery issues too. I will probably hold out until the new models in September if mine lasts until then.

I'd agree too, I replaced the one on my Mom's, mine was replaced under warranty a few years ago. The battery bulges and it pops the screen up.

I will try to get the m12 stapler and a new phone. I'm am trying to go into saving mode so I can eventually get a pickup truck and find a place to live. I will have to move houses in 9 or so years.

A new phone for me, that's my most needed tool. My battery and camera on my old iPhone 5 are becoming a real issue and I need that for work.

I need some more wood clamps, some misc woodworking stuff. Also need more variations of wood on-hand, it sucks getting an idea and having to schedule a shopping trip.

The 2 massive-output M18 lights - the Dual-Pack Rocket Tower and the Radius Site lights - are probably the things that I've got the most use out of. I really didn't need much this year.

    How about you, @BMack37?

    Radius light is fantastic!

    Mine:

Power tool: Dewalt DW734 planer, I've been using the hell out of that. Honorable mentions to my Ryobi miter saw, Wen bench sanders and Craftsman band saw! It was the year of bench tools for me.

Hand tools. I'd have to go with the Irwin powerslot diagonal cutters I got from @rrich1, I had a pair already but wanted another pair and Rich decided to send me a pair as a thanks for something I sent him. I wasn't expecting it so it was a huge surprise.

I want to add my wood handle screwdrivers here but I don't really use them(have soo many screwdrivers already), I just think they're neat haha.

  13. You can do it but it's not terribly economic to do so unless you can get the battery for cheap. The cells should be welded to the tabs and that's not easy, you can't stick, MIG or TIG weld it (reliably without danger), it's an ultrasonic weld. With drill kits being around $100-$120 on sale, there's no real reason, in my opinion, to make your current tool backwards compatible. The new stuff probably won't last as long but replacement costs aren't a lot.
