  1. $20 from a pawn shop, all USA made. Brand new router bits and used but decent condition tap holder, I wanted a spare for my screw extractor set:

eBay score, I have the SO Instinct hard handles but wanted to try the soft, these feel a LOT better in the hand.

This made my day. Another eBay find, lost out on the auction for one last week which sold for over $100, one on eBay now for $200. Before it was discontinued it was $750, it's replacement is $850+! ...I paid $30

OK, well, in case anyone is curious, I went and bought a 3' length of metal bar stock, cut it to length, bent an elbow in the long piece and ground a notch out of it.

It's ugly (maybe I'll paint them), but it works.

That's pretty much what I would have done.

You gotta go two tone on it.

I'm planning on it, was thinking that neptune greenish and an off-white color but trying to decide to just the logos and letters or to do the bottom stripes or do those sunken areas near the jaws. I'm leaning towards logo and letters only but strongly considering the sunken areas.

BTW, I measured at Lowe's today, I think the Irwin jaws will fit!

there is just something about older vises

The guy got it from his Grandfather, he was planning on making it a lamp. Glad he sold it to me, I've already disassembled it, drilled out the broken screws in the jaw and some rusted parts are soaking in Evapo-Rust. Right now I'm looking for a replacement hardened steel jaw or will make some aluminum jaws for it. Also going to strip it and repaint it.

I'm thinking teal (like a 50s Chevy or a bright red), what do you guys think?

  5. Honestly though, 2 years so the NiCad batteries are shot, needs new brushes...I'd consider tossing out the old tech drill and buying into a lithium battery platform. I wouldn't recommend something high end but a home owner, DIY grade tool or a reconditioned drill would work. Reconditioned compact brushed Milwaukee drill and impact driver, two batteries, bag and charger run about $120 on sale. The M12 brushed set is like $100 and is probably about as powerful as his Dewalt XRP. A replacement battery and brushes for his drill will be like $80.

  6. Either this is a troll account or he got a BS story from someone that isn't working directly for Milwaukee. Even their reconditioned tools carry a one year warranty.

I imagine he won't be posting again, their username points towards a troll account.

They are the tools you let other people borrow lol. You make a good point about the modification. You’re not out much if you have to modify them

I keep HF screwdrivers around for that very reason. If someone asks to borrow a tool, almost always they're getting a HF tool or they're getting me to do it for them.

Great info guys !! I really appreciate all the help. I thought about what I am going to do most, and figured it would almost always stay in a table. I'm gonna go full size with the BOSCH 1617 and prob put it in a small Bosch table.

*Part 2* any table ideas ? (building my own is not an option)

Smaller not freestanding. Thinking of Bosch 1171 ..... The Kreg looks nice.....??

Also gonna hit up some pawn shops and look between the old generators and pressure washers and see if I get lucky. My pawn shop options are not all that.

A pawn shop is where I got my router table(USA Craftsman), with router for like $20.

I really like the Kreg stuff and the Bosch seems nice but they're pricey. There's also the Husky (made by Keter) folding table with router insert.

Not all that interested in paying someone to do it.

I need to get it done today. Got some advice from my mom who apparently teaches this kind of stuff to the seniors.

Should be fairly easy to write as I just barely turned twenty so I only have about four years in the workforce if you don't count growing up in construction (which I won't).

If you were paid and can claim it(it was/is a reputable company) I would claim it. If it's a family business you can claim it as a passion project, or you can claim it as something that taught you the value of hard work. I think it would be appreciated if they knew you grew up working and not as some lazy teenager. It's hard to dispel the myth of the lazy millennial, there are places that won't hire people you age because of it.

  10. A lot of that stuff is very usable so it's a damn fine win!

The brushes are good, the picks are decent, cable ties are decent, magnetic bowl is great, light is good, bag is good, box cutter and tarp are good.

Tape measure is NOT good, it's off a little but good to use if you just need a ballpark.

The pliers set is very useful, they're sloppy but they work just fine. They really shine because they're easily and cheap to replace, so they're great to modify. I needed a plier that could grip onto vintage electronics knobs, I took the slip joint and ground the teeth down, opened the jaws up a little then covered the jaws in adhesive shrink wrap...works perfectly.

I've also found in testing that the multimeter, while not safe to use on high voltage, is pretty accurate.

I've been googling the sh*t out of stuff, looks like it's a choice between 2 just like @BMack37 said.... DEWALT or Bosch.

being that I'm team yellow....... I'm leaning now

I was thinking after commenting...I love my Dewalt router BUT the Bosch (non-compact) sets itself apart for use in a table, you can adjust height with a hex key from the top of the table. Having a router where that isn't an option...kinda sucks.

It’s interesting to me because. I have the tough system and Tstak....so I was hoping dozens of guys would have bought it by now and said how great it is......I have an order in just to do a video of me dropping it on the corners and using it at work in the dirt and mud.....im very happy Milwaukee guys finally got a nice system, it just seems a lot of guys won’t pay the high price...??

It's really early and it's not like people are going to throw out what they already have. Most customers for this system already have some...I imagine it will be pick up over the next two years, it will probably get a holiday sale and some will bite then.

  13. I'm not very good with resumes, I hate mine...but I just wanted to say, they probably just want something that isn't in crayon with a bunch of misspelled words. They're already wanting to talk to you, that's more than half the battle.

I'd go short and sweet, bullet points (skills, experience) and background info, no fluff ("I'm good at working with others" or "I work well with little direction"). Save that for the meeting, maybe mention it as a descriptor in your experience (describe "I was a member of a team which blah blah"). Again, I'm not the best with resumes but just my thoughts.

One thing to note that this is just "wave one" of packout products. Milwaukee says more is to come. I'd expect some kind of drawer unit and tote when more packout is announced since they are some of the more common options.

I agree 100%. I imagine multiple sizes too. 2-drawer, 3-drawer. Full sized open crate, half-sized milk crate. radio/speakers, etc

I don't think they'll have it but imagine a rolling base unit with a battery powered air compressor in it.
