Calling his credibility out like that is, in a kind word, pompous.  Yeah @Framer joe is a "super fan" , but he probably owns and uses almost daily nearly every tool in DeWalt's  catalog as well as Ridgid and others, I for one take him at his word.  I too haven't had any failure with any of my DeWalt tools, I live in a state with some of the most bizarre unpredictable climates in the country with temperature swings of 30 degrees in 24hrs common, am I not credible with my experience?  Maybe I just know what to expect when any battery is cold......

As a professional and a buyer of premium tools leaving your batteries out over night below freezing is an amateur mistake

Oh hell I leave my 20v batteries in my truck year round, in Michigan.... been doing it for YEARS.... I must be an amateur.  I better go apologize to all my clients over the years for letting them think they hired a Pro.

  3. I have a (very) younger brother that's chosen to get his act together but can't get a job at all, when I can, I have him help on some of my side projects and occasionally as needed with my company.  Kid works his ass off for me,  and when I can I pass my unneeded tools to him.  I'd suggest if you get rid of your tools give them to someone who needs them and will use them to put food on the table, while habitat is a worthy cause, I'd rather help someone I know.

  4. I took a tour of Midwest Cutlery makers of Midwest snips and OEM to a few surprising brands.  Since they are located near the Indiana border which is about a 45 min drive I contacted them and they were more than happy to show me around.  I had a great time, the president of the company and plant manager took their time explaining the entire process and gave me some fantastic insight into their business.

Lowes is such a second player when it comes to tools compared to HD. I know Hitachi is trying to be a bigger player in the tool world. We also have Chervon buying Skill too. I'm curious to see what happens with that. Will we see a revitalized Skill after kinda being the dumping ground for cheap tools by Bosch. Lowes needs to have a Ryobi competitor that line is just huge, and another Pro line besides Dewalt I know Hitachi is there, but they need something. They also need better deals on tools HD shits on lowes with that.

Did you forget the giant Bosch displays at Lowes? Lowes has Ryobi competitors with Kobalt and Porter Cable albit both have smaller lineups but arguably better products (I have alot of Ryobi stuff, just because of the oddball offerings) also lets not forget Lowes carries much more B&D product. I wouldn't quite call Lowes "such a second player" but a very close second.  True HD has generally better sales and more power tool brands overall but Lowes dedicates alot more sq ft to tools than just the 2-3 isles and a couple endcaps at HD.

SBD taking Craftsman to Lowes seems a no brainer as they already have a good relationship with much of SBD's portfolio in the stores now.  I almost get the feeling HD and SBD have a troubled arrangement and only keep it for their respective customers as other than DeWalt there are quite few SBD offerings since HD pulled mostly all Stanley tools a few years ago.  Which begs the question of why is Flexvolt at HD and not at Lowes too?

  7. It’s a good thing I went to Lowe’s this morning and didn’t wait for the order ready email. They couldn’t find them, they were literally in the same spot they have been in for at least 6 months down the back of “Tool World”. Walked the associate to them in less than a minute. They were in the exact bay listed on the paperwork yet two employees were not able to find them.

I also found this oddity, a Dewalt cooler with an impact, drill, charger, and 2 x 1.5Ah batteries for $329. So everyone throw away your boxes, coolers are the new tool storage solution!

They also had the Power Station bare tool for $100 more than anywhere else. Had it been the kit for $399 it would have been in my cart but not paying more for a bare tool.

@Cr8ondt you talking cordless coil roofing nailer? Would there be any concern about the nailer sliding off the roof and breaking?

I'd assume a coil nailer, I've never heard of any other type of roof gun.  Probably no less concern than any pneumatic nailers falling off a roof.  I'd guess the biggest holdup is speed and shots per charge (obviously), so I'd think the best form of marketing would be for repairs and small garage/shed jobs.  This is solely speculation on my part.

A few of the more recent products to hit the market I was asked for my "insight" on are the chain saw and mower, and another more vaguely worded one was regarding the Graco sprayer(and maybe more)

Yes to all of that. But also a roofing nailer. Not sure why that wasn’t one of the first guns. High battery turnover rate maybe?

What If I told you I am almost positive that one is in the pipe....shall we say a nondisclosure agreement prevents further elaboration.  1st rule of fight club.....
