Well this project is coming to completion, the owners have moved in and the inside is 99.999999% done with what I'm contracted for. Sure there's some exterior work to be finished, mostly the decks but I'm happy to see the place lived in (actually I suprized myself for warm and fuzzy I feel about it lol)

Ya that button is really light.... and ya i got mine for $20 too... I'm a Dewalt guy for all my cordless till my brother bought me the Ryobi nailer since then I've been getting all kinds of "supplemental" Ryobi things lol

Had a Porter Cable drill that i bought from Amazon, I smoked the motor and called Lowes, they said bring it in with everything that came with it, I did, they checked the date in the battery slot and said no problem and swapped it out for a new in the box kit batteries and all. Porter Cable and DeWalt are part of the same company... give it a shot at Lowes.
I'm VERY hard on my 887, I mean really hard, fell of 2 stories many times, mud, drywall screws and dust, sawdust, some car work, lots and of deck screws, lags, heck even a bunch of cabinets. I easily have over 400 hrs of motor spinning time on mine. I'm sure @Framer joe has pushed his just as hard or harder or a lot harder, but really the 887 is a tough MOFO. I once thought I had a rough chuck wobble after dropping it off a roof..... turns out i bent the bit extension.
Seriously find a local retailer that will just swap out another for you, sounds like the problem is the board but hey there is always a bad apple in a bushel, don't let this hiccup make you wanna use a red tool from a company owned by red China with a name from an American city.

Yeah, I have a hate/love feeling about the place. We get most of our materials from there, the tool selection is hohum to meh with the occasional gem, they have a lot of Chinesium trinkets that are sorta fun to look at but what bugs me most is when I'm checking out with supplies and I gotta wait for the old lady in front of me buying laundry soap to write a stupid check...grrrrrrr (happens more than you'd think)

Nah the 791 will do just fine, it's way more drill than anyone gives it credit for and more powerful than the average guy will ever need! The 996 is just stupid insane strong.
@natbea09 the 887's modes take a little bit to get used to, 1 is for gentle work like cabinet screws , when the driver turns the screw almost all the way in it will stop pause about a second and then impact, this can catch you off guard and mess with your brain the first few times but it works fantastically, 2 is kinda like training wheel mode and probably best for normal screws like drywall/construction/backerboard/short lags, once you are used to the trigger control then go for 3... its POWA! mode and will give almost any length lag pure hell and overdrive them too!

Both will complete the task. I use my drill(791) to um... drill holes(strange, I know right) and my impact driver(887) to drive screws. Both tools can be used for similar purposes, like having a car and truck, sure you can pull a small trailer with a car but the truck does it better, you can take the truck on a road trip but the car is more comfortable.
PS. Just a heads up don't call the 887 a drill, its an impact driver or impact for short, calling it a drill will make it feel it is unloved and think that you don't care...

I'll add an other nod to a Leatherman, might I suggest the Wave, my personal favorite.
There are other good multi tools but Leatherman is simply the best and will get used daily.

Personally I would not make a logoed/branded T shirt unless I was sponsored by that company. I played many years in a sport as a semipro and with that came sponsors as such we would have to put our sponsorships on our jerseys but over time they would come and go making for a difficult time maintaining the the current "list" of supporters. Sure I'll buy an Adidas logoed shirt, because I want to buy that shirt, make one nope.

No official word but I'd bet it's in the cards, DeWalt is using 20700 cells in the FV 9/3 and 20v 6ah batteries so it would be quite a simple transition to make slim packs in 3ah.
