Nonprophet
I'm getting sparks at the brushes/motor, reduced RPMs on the blade, and electric brake not working. Replaced brushes, did not solve problem. In researching it, it would seem that either the stator or the armature is the problem. I've disassembled the saw trying to get to the stator to inspect it, but I cannot get the plastic motor/stator cover off, nor can I remove the armature. Can anyone help? kornomaniac
Sounds like the armature but I wouldn't know how to open up a metabo saw sorry :/
SchenzhenSpecial
Armature most likely. Remove the Brushes, take a multimeter if you have one and stick them in the brush holder openings so you make contact at 180deg points with the commutator. Measure resistance. If you see a sudden drop on any pair or 0 you have a short which is definitely a broken armature.
